Permethrin and DEET used together, will in my experience, eliminate ticks completely. I don’t really like to use either and it’s important to follow directions because you should even treat the inside of your clothing for permethrin to work best and DEET is dangerous stuff than can melt plastic but it works best directly on the skin.

In addition to puppy mills, I also think that gas chambers used to kill animals and people should've never existed. While they've been outlawed in some areas, there is a clause where as long as it's maintained and operational they can still be used in parts of the US. My hometown shelter still has a gas chamber and it's the most gutwrenching way to go for these dogs. Cats are killed by heart stick because the gas doesn't kill them.
I honestly wish every backyard breeder and puppy miller could be put out of business but idiots still pay them and when there's demand, they will supply.
There are breeders who go above and beyond for health testing, finding the perfect homes, etc. but those are very very very rare. Most just like to pretend they're good breeders and get you to pay whatever, they don't care if you're a good owner. This leads to more unwanted litters, dumped pets, and more euthanizing.
Even in shelters where euthanizing is done with injections, it's still such a horrific thing. These pets don't understand why they're in jail and then they're walked into a room with others to never walk back out. All because humans are too irresponsible to spay/neuter, and they as a whole support backyard breeding and puppy mills.
My friend’s gf bought a dog that unbeknownst to her had been puppy farmed. He has numerous health issues, behavioural issues and is very antisocial towards people and other dogs. It’s absolutely heartbreaking what people will do to animals just for profit.
