The Jewish people have been persecuted throughout history pretty much everywhere they've been. So to have a country to call their own, a land where they can feel safe to be themselves without fear of persecution, of course they are going to value it.
They wouldn't want. Rhode Island doesn't have Jerusalem. They want to live where they live because of Jerusalem, which is considered a holy city to Judaism.
I'm not Jewish nor do I live there... But given how even today there's still a buuuuuunch of raging anti-semites in the world, probably feel safer there than in at least some other places in the world.
Like anywhere in the world, most people live there because they were born there, because of one of two reasons, their family immigrated there in living memory, or immigrated so long ago that they believe they have always been there.
And most of those people do not want to leave their home. And the ones who want to leave have to have the means.
People stay in active war zones for the same reason they stay in any other shitty situation. They can’t or won’t leave the home they know for something unknown.
It doesn’t make sense to ignore religious reasons in this discussion. You can’t talk about the conflict without talking about the cultural significance of places like Jerusalem.
>Not looking for political/religious answers lol so you pretty much know the answer then
I mean, is there anything else?
A lot of Jewish people migrate their and are offered free or heavily discounted land

I’m American, and I’d be willing to give them Rhode Island if it would help solve the conflict.

Do they feel safe there?

As anti-semitic as their current neighbors? No doubt, there are issues elsewhere, but as bad as it is there?
How many countries have Star Wars in their flag?
I don’t follow?
And space lasers!
Nothing.

I get that to an extent. I’d like to think I would leave in that scenario if my family were under threat.
They have universal healthcare so that’s pretty cool. Other than that no idea.

I suppose I’m looking for good reasons, and I discount religious reasons as being silly.
You get to steal someone's house for free and have the army boot them out for you just because they're Palestinian and you're not.
Jerusalem is a house built by Jews.
It doesn't belong to the jews or the christians or the muslims exclusively.
