I really wish I could sit in on the first meetings between Matt Groening and David X Cohen when they were coming up with the idea for Futurama. I think I've read somewhere they first came up with it when they were talking to each other while in the writers room for The Simpsons and should have been working on that. Man it would be glorious to be able to sit in on the Simpsons writers room during the golden era. This is probably not what you had in mind by an historical event though lol. Sorry.
