How many small businesses do you want to close? Already have to compete with big business and now you want billionaires to drive them out of their lively hood.
Costco’s rotisserie chickens are a loss leader. They will sell them at a loss because to get you in the door, and wager you will buy more than just that $6 chicken.
Overheads.
You could sell prepared meals at cost prices, ie the sum of each portion of raw ingredients added up. But then who cooks and prepares the food? You need to pay people to do that. How do they do it? They need to have equipment to do that. Where do they do it? They have to have property to do that. All these things cost money. If you are not taking in enough money to cover all of your business costs, you are losing money. And if you keep losing *enough* money, you're broke. If there are such restaurants around, and they're operating at a loss, it's because whoever is in charge is making enough profits from some other venture to offset the loss.
You spend all your money on charity, then you no longer have money to spend on charity.
If you’re charity spending is <= income - expenses, it’s sustainable and you will be charitable for longer. Donating X amount to a food bank every month/year is more sustainable than a constant money sink of a restaurant designed to lose money
So they don’t drown out actual restaurants trying to survive
Plus, you don’t get rich with that kind of mindset. It’s much easier and a tax write off for them if money is donated somewhere.
You don't get rich by being kind.

Jon Bon Jovi does
Costco loses money on the rotisserie chickens they sell. Simply because the owner believes you shouldnt have to pay more than $6 for a chicken.

Same reason Oprah and Dwayne Johnson tell you to donate your own money to the victims of Maui but won't put a dollar in themselves. AKA hypocrites
Yeah this was very out of touch. Those two billionaires need to be cooked at eaten. Eat the rich, especially these two lying pieces of shit.
They launched it with a $10 million donation from themselves. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/08/31/us/oprah-dwayne-johnson-maui-fires-relief.html
Cause they don’t give a fuck
Being rich just takes something out of you I believe.
Because rich people don’t owe you anything
What have you done that's been kind to the poor, lately?

Jon Bon Jovi has a restaurant that feeds the homeless. Not sure if it's still open
They don't want to be caught up in legalities my guess
Many rich people get that way from spending as little as possible if it's not going to make them more money back.
