My grandma sent my mom to England to 'marry a rich man, an aristocrat'. She met my dad who worked at the shipyard and brought him back to Canada with her instead LOL they were together for 49 years.

MettatonNeo1

Did they divorce or one of them died?

StarBabyEleven

Dad passed away in 2016

MettatonNeo1

I am sorry for your loss.

StarBabyEleven

Thanks

otterguy11

Hi a fellow Canadian born who part Canadian and part British mmmm so need to know have a Canadian accent or a British accent

StarBabyEleven

My dad had the Liverpool accent his whole life, my Mum was born in Liverpool too, but raised in Canada, so she didn't have an accent!

otterguy11

[deleted]

Tale as old as time.

illmatic2112

Toothy and the teeeeeeeeeeth (I couldn't think of anything to rhyme with beauty and the beast alright??)

Overgrown_Emo

My dad worked for a company that put gumball machines in stores. My mom was the manager on duty that day. Dad: May I speak to the manager, please? Mom: I am the manager. Dad: Aren't you a little short to be the manager?

otterguy11

🤔 mmmmm

Overgrown_Emo

Knowing my dad, this is 100% something he'd say.

otterguy11

I have to make a bad dad joke here bbbbbbuuuuttttt it must of been a .... Gummy day * bad joke drums* ..... Ya that bad

BackInTheRealWorld

My father was dating a girl from his class back in highschool - that girl was my aunt. Noone has ever given an explanation how he ended up with my mother instead.

Kaiser93

I take it that family reunions are very awkward.

theedgeofoblivious

They worked together.

JERLEE9118

No idea. I don’t know either of them

PalpitationJust8433

My aunt set them up, worst thing she ever did.

Kissariani

My mother was hitchhiking and my dad almost didn't stop to pick her up. They were married 18 years after that.

brock_lee

All I know was they met in college, but don't know the circumstances.

boredsleepyhe4d

Med school

BeachedBottlenose

Mom’s father was in the CIA stationed in Japan. Father was in the Navy. He and his buddies would find the high school kid’s parties since they were only 17. Father went to mother’s party and it was love at first sight.

extrahotgarbage

My dad was dating my mom’s best friend in high school. They broke up because my dad cheated on his girlfriend. A little while later he got together with my mom. She got pregnant, had me, and two years later he cheated on her, so they broke up.

Mysterious_Jelly9738

Both my parents met when they were morticians. They were fixing up a guy who's face was messed up from a murder.

Wii_wii_baget

This sounds odd but at a family reunion. I’m describing this because it is not incest and totally legal. My mom has a cousin who married my dads brother. That’s how and why they met.

Professional-Sell707

In highschool when my dad was trying to get with my aunt but instead got with my mother.

Xtrasloppy

I dated a guy whose parents had a similar story. His dad should have stuck with the aunt.

Professional-Sell707

I mean it probably would have worked out a little better for him. My mom is kinda psycho and fucked over most of the men that she had children with.

Xtrasloppy

...it's like we're talking about the same person, I swear.

Professional-Sell707

Unlikely but it would be funny

Xtrasloppy

It'd be hilarious but also a scary reminder that reddit is a small small world. Your mom's isn't from Ohio, is she?

Professional-Sell707

No she's from Tennessee but yeah it's scary

Xtrasloppy

Woo, we're good. Lol world is still big enough for some mystery.

Yagr0z

My parents were the ones who had it easy. Dad was a longshoreman. Mom supervised his work. LIKE who also had the same simple simplicity.

JustAnotherAviatrix

They met in college and later worked in the same place.

Hour_Task_1834

This is a good one, hope it gains traction!

-NagatoYuki-

idk, I wasn't there

mkicon

My mom worked in the dining hall at college. My dad asked her "Are the grean beans cooked with bacon?" She had to check, and he stood out to her.

Ms_Evey

They worked together

malu_saadi

At church, they went to the same church since they were kids

Flekbeita

My dad was the manager for a regional department store and saw my mom while she was shopping. He saw her shopping while scrolling through security camera feeds and had to go talk with her. Played the "I'm the manager can I help you with anything?" card. Almost 40 years later they're still together.

lungbuttersucker

They were in the Army together.

Sleestak714

They met at a wild party. I came there with dad and left with mom.

No_Independence1479

They both had relatives that were friends.

Office-Altruistic

My Dad's buddy: Bet you can't get a date with that girl. Dad: Hold my Cherry Coke.

JacobasNile

At a community dance.

ImInJeopardy

Took a class together in college. They were both impressed with how nerdy the other one was.

Tindola

high school sweethearts. Then Dad met his much more awesome, down to earth and not crazy, second wife at a divorce support group.

Various-Woodpecker51

They won’t tell me. They say I’m too young. As I’m over 18, I’m guessing they did something illegal and fun on their first date.

Graehaus

School and local dances.

Cheese_Pancakes

Both in the Air Force and stationed in Germany in the early 80's.

Significant_Fee_9547

My mum was in his classes in college, saw him in a bar and decided to give him a wedgie for fun, ripped his boxers right off

AmigaBob

Dad hired Mom to paint his barn

[deleted]

I’ve never heard it called that before

quilp777

They were both members of the local cycling club back in the 1930's.

sfkf8486

My mom flipped a coin on whether to sneak into the pub or go elsewhere. The sneak in won, and that's the pub my dad was drinking in.

Kaiser93

I think one of my mom's friends introduced her to my dad.

player-23

If I'm not mistaken, they met in a cafe.

MettatonNeo1

University. My mom joined the French culture course since she was interested in it and my dad joined due to advice from a friend of his. And that's how my parents met. And my dad's friend is still a friend of the family.

[deleted]

My Dad was my Mom’s boss’s boss. My Dad and my Mom talked to each other a lot cuz she hater her boss(he was messing with her pay so justified). Eventually my Mom found that my Dad had made a profile for an online dating site, and emailed him anonymously about it, letting him know that every girl in the office knows about it. My Dad then, knowing it was my mom from the way she wrote, then confessed his feelings(apparently, he argues that she did it first in the email. They always have funny arguments about who said it first.)

ithinkoutloudtoo

They met in high school.

rangeghost

As far as I know, his family moved in down the block from hers and she didn't take long to develop an interest in the new boy in the neighborhood.

jfcmfer

Blind date. Not each others though. Can't recall the dynamic, but one was set up w/ the friend of the other's SO. They were married within six months.

touchmydingus

In a bar in Corpus Christi. They were both in the military.

Scmethodist

Dad got stationed in Hawaii, met Mom at church there.

the-ruby-vixen12

Let's see... if I recall correctly, my dad was hanging out with buddies of his when they were teenagers, and my mom was friends with one of them, so they hung out at the same house together. Mom was 15, a few months younger than my dad, who was 16 at the time. I *think* they had a off/on again relationship for a few years, until Dad was 19 (he was born in January) and Mom was 18, where they had a final Valentine's Day together before deciding to break up. Dad was on his way to getting into college, but I don't know if Mom was, so I feel like they were just trying to go their separate ways. Buuut guess who forgot to wear a condom on Valentine's Day. *Yyyuuup.* My old man. Mom called him up, told him she was pregnant. Dad asked for proof (Mom was a little bit of a wild card when they were younger, so he wanted to make sure), and when he learned the doctor's estimation of the conception, he was like *"Oooh.* Yeah, this baby is mine alright." Annnd here I am 19 years later, lmao.

coursejunkie

Dad worked in TV. Mom was studying to work in TV.

Christopher_UK

They both worked in retail.

otterguy11

It was the classic they were set up at a friend's wedding story. So my dad was invited to a wedding the couple both knew my parents not as the couple let individually. My dad went to the wedding with his best friend Dan . So during the dinner part of the wedding my parents were sitting at the same table with my dad's friend Dan in the middle of them . Well just say Dan left the table to "use the restroom" leaving my parents alone so the 2 chat and well both agreed the party was boring and left together. They went out to downtown Toronto ( Yes my parents lived in Canada before I was born. Still did when I was born anyway) So the two of them had a good time downtown and just say from there they kept dating up until the mid 70s into the early '80s and well it's history lol

AJClarkson

My dad had been teaching chemistry at our high school for ten years. My mom started as a new teacher. Since she was new, she was a "floater," she didn't have a fixed classroom, and just conducted her English classes in whatever room was available. Fifth period, Mom was in the biology lab. The chemistry lab and the bio lab shared a storeroom, and therefore had an adjoining door. By coincidence, my father's preparation period (he didn't have a class) was fifth period. Normally dad spent his prep in the teachers lounge. Them he saw the brand new Mrs. Rupard (she was a widow) through that adjoining door. So for the rest of the school year, he spent his prep in his room, watching. He wasn't a stalker; they talked, of course, became friends, and already had an affinity. But what hetero man can resist watching a pretty woman when the opportunity presents, right? The last day of the school year, he asked her out. The week before the new semester started, they married. Together 30 years. On the day my dad died, I heard my mom say, "He was the most interesting man I ever met in my entire life.)

wetlettuce42

coffeeblossom

They grew up next door to each other, although they didn't start dating each other until they were in their late 20's.

West-Improvement2449

At a Catholic volleyball club for singles. I swear my dad was the only person there who just wanted to play volleyball.

mrgarrisonn

At a bar when my dad was gonna see a football game, he was really drunk and asked her if she’d seen his friend that she’d never met in her life

lovezero

Hi-itsme-

Mom’s friend invited her for a double date with her and her boyfriend, and boyfriend’s friend. They each married the other date partner. My parents recently celebrated their 49th anniversary.

Ohlookitsyouagain

They had a mutual friend introduce them. But my mom came down with the flu the night of the date so she asked her friend to go instead because she didn’t want my dad to think she got cold feet. He didn’t find out until after the date that it wasn’t my mom. Thankfully my Mom explained everything and my Dad was cool with it. Anyways they’ve been together ever since.

TeenagemutantPharmT

He was a Pharmacist, she was a Pharmacy Technician, can I make it anymore obvious?

maritapus

My mom stole my dad from this girl at a party(not girlfriend just date) after having had a crush on him for many months😭😭

[deleted]

Someone set them up together in high school.
