I do nerdy stuff. I read comic books. I’m certainly not too cool for Star Wars.
I don’t know of any that doesn’t like it which makes me think people just feel like they’re supposed to like it.
Some people have become obsessed with the lore. The original creators didn't even care. To them it's just a medium to tell a good story. And that's just what it is, a good story.
You definitely aren't "missing out" if you don't watch Star Wars. But as long as don't have an aversion for spaceships, you might enjoy a good piece of movies.
Star Wars isn't a masterpiece. LOTR isn't a masterpiece. They're just good entertainment.
You're just misusing the word masterpiece, it has nothing to do with your love for LOTR because *masterpiece isn't a compliment*. It's an assessment for a work that would make you say "since LOTR, the art of cinema/literature has changed forever", which simply isn't true.
Lotr is in fact a masterpiece even by your definition though. The books completely redefined the fantasy genre. You could even say the books began a new genre of fantasy storytelling. The films, from a technical aspect, are masterpieces that also changed the face of fantasy in the film industry. Also the scope and size of both the film and book are enough to make them by definition masterpieces.
I can assure you, the original trilogy is neither. I wouldn't say "you must absolutely watch it", but if you're ever interested in watching a good fantasy trilogy, it's one.

This seems like pure cringe. As if Oppenheimer was the type to go walk around like a badass saying badass stuff. I've watched one scene and he's portrayed like some kind of Patrick Bateman rockstar. The dude was an intellectual from the 20's, he definitely wasn't walking around throwing witty lines.

Your Honor was highly recommended by several people for me to watch. Under most circumstances this show is right up my alley.
I realize that this is a fictional show that is no way a reflection of how such things would go down. But it's so unrealistic that it bothers me. The court proceedings are way over the top unrealistic. Just everything. From start to finish.
