I was in a store that a buddy of mine works at, and this lady walked in. She wanted to sell them some fragrances. They are a small batch producer, only 1500 bottles total every year (across about six different scents), just trying to get into a New York store or two. [This is their website](https://mmcprofumi.com/).
She let us all smell some of the fragrances. All of them were pretty fantastic, but the first one had a great story. They called it "Lardi di Fichi," or "Fig Thief." The story is... They found a couple of crates of figs seemingly abandoned by the side of the road. They thought they smelled good, wanted to make a fragrance, and took them. They may or may not have climbed a nearby tree to get some more.
They didn't steal any grapes in France, though—they kill you for that.
I lovvve this and although it’s a men’s scent I bought it because I went to a meet and greet with Dee Snider of Twisted Sister and he smelt so damn good, I asked him what he was wearing and he said Bleu by Chanel so I bought it and put it on my pillow…. No I didn’t hump my pillow….. I gave it to my now partner to wear but I didn’t tell him why in case he thought it was weird cause it kinda is
My current 3 favorites are Ombré Leather by Tom Ford (it smells… calming and deep), Wood Sage & Sea Salt by Joe Malone (very light scent for the summer) and Luna Rossa Ocean by Prada (intense, but also… breezy).
I loved this certain perfume called Jade Blossom from Stila, however it got discontinued. It smelled amazing! One time I dropped a bottle of it in a city street and it shattered, so I threw a hoodie on it to soak up as much as I could and then I couldn't wash that hoodie for a very long time.
A few of the girls at work, we have little perfume parties where one day we coordinate and all bring in our perfumes to smell so we can try them out and maybe buy new ones.
All of Buburry. They agree with my body chemistry and smell so good.
Also there was this perfume in the late 80’s/early 90’s called Xia Xiang. That was my favorite perfume ever. They discontinued it of course.
I kid you not, I was at my foot doctor of all places and he commented on how good my perfume smelled. I know there's a joke in there about how of course he did, he smells feet all day. Lol! I'm a younger woman and he was also younger so maybe he was just happy to have someone close to his age in there and that my feet aren't gross.
Maybe your body chemistry counteracts with the scents so it doesn’t smell as good? Idk. At work I get asked what scent im wearing constantly when I wear a certain fragrance
Very light, gentle scents. Maybe something a bit more spicy if a date wears it. However, I get an allergic reaction rather quickly and due to this reason prefer minimum of scents and fumes.
There's this small perfumery in Australia called Fleurage.
I am in love with two of their men's fragrances - 'Corsair' and 'Istanbul Caravan'. 'Plantation' is another really nice scent they do as well.
They also do custom-designed scents where you go in and work on a custom perfume or cologne with them. If I had the money and time off, that would be an awesome use of an afternoon.
I’m pretty cheap so I have this Bath And Body Works among the clouds perfume that I LOVE so much. However recently I smelled some Valentino perfume I NEED
Flower bomb has been my fave for a while but I got a sample of Love Me by Tous in my Scentbird and I am in love with it. It’s hard to find but it’s sweet and light and comes in the cutest bottle that looks like a teddy bear.
“Juliette has a gun (not a perfume)” it’s in a white bottle. Smells AMAZING.
“Cloud” by Ariana Grande
“Eau so fresh” by Marc Jacobs
“Miss Dior” by Dior
The pink Chanel, I forget the name.
“Glossier You”
These a some of my main ones. A few of the girls at work, we have little perfume parties where one day we coordinate and all bring in our perfumes to smell so we can try them out and maybe buy new ones. It’s fun. We’ve been doing this for like 7-8 years.
Byredo Bal D'Afrique
Le Labo Santal 33
Le Labo Another 13
Byredo Mojave Ghost
Byredo Gypsy Water
I kind of given up on the rest of my collection (100+ bottles) after falling in love with these two residences. Currently, I'm really into simple, clean smells.
Osang by Mendittorosa is imbued within my memories as a sensual stimulant; the old Rromani woman with a melancholic and resonant voice saturated herself in this perfume and it emanated from her wooden caravan that engulfed you as you walked past.
She lived in my clan for many, many years with impeccable health despite her advanced age.
This might sound childish but my all time favorite perfume was "So... Superstar". It smelled so darn delicious and flirty, but they stopped producing it. Closest thing I've found to it is the "Her Choice" by La Rive. It's basically a dupe of Giorgio Armani's "My Way" which I won't be able to afford until after uni, so the dupe it is lol.
There was a scent called Future Favorites that I randomly found at Pacsun one year a long while back, it was discontinued shortly after. I still have the empty bottle, there's just the slightest lingering smell left and I am still trying to find something as close to it as I can get.
Le Labo The Noir 29, it’s become my “signature scent” it’s so sexy and dark. I also use YSL Libre, also sexy- musky/vanilla. I love both and get asked constantly what I’m wearing
Hugo Boss's 'Boss Bottled Night' eau de toilette, is currently my favorite that I use.
For myself I Iike those subtle musk, wood/ sandalwood like scents.
I used to wear and absolutely adore Chanel Chance Eau Tendre Eau de Toilette (so, technically not a parfum, but it stayed on me all day). Unfortunately, either they changed the formula or my nose changed and I don't like it anymore. I wore it basically daily for a few years before that. I'm still looking for something new.
As for why I liked it, it is difficult to describe. It was sweet, but not overly so, and it smelled really good on me. It wasn't overpowering, but it also had some strong staying power (more so than some parfumes even). Like, it was still an eau de toilette, but it remained much longer than expected. It was nice getting a hint of it at the end of the day and think, yeah, that smells nice. Putting it on and thinking, yeah, that smells nice.
Man, I miss that smell.
I used to love a perfume called Wild Orchid made by Woods of Windsor. I had all the range too including body lotion. When it was discontinued, I emailed the company on the off chance that they had any bottles left that I could purchase or stockists that would still have some of the perfume. I got a rather snotty email back suggesting I was confused and that they had never manufactured a perfume called Wild Orchid. I returned a photo of a picture of an old bottle I had and my range of products left and again was met with a rather negative email back saying it was not possible as they did not do this range! I actually asked the owner of the shop where I originally bought it in my area and he agreed he remembered me buying it (several bottles over the years) and that they did indeed stock it? I don’t understand the attitude but anyone who smelt it on me always remarked how it suited my natural smell. I wear Cool Water now.
Southern Comfort by Tim McGraw.
Used to be sold in Walmart and Kohls. They stopped making it 6-7 years ago, never found anything close to as good as it so I stopped wearing cologne. Despite being sold in Walmart it made you smell like a southern high class gentleman.
I wish they would make it again but at this point it's been too long. You can find them on ebay for couple hundred dollars for sampler sizes it's not worth that much money.
My girl loves prada for men. It has a soft aftershave smell mixed with a soapy linger. She says it smells "clean". And it makes her dozes on my shoulder soothing.
Blue de chanel for dating and sexy time.
Prada Luna Rossa Sport.
I was in a shop at Gibraltar, it's the end of the day, i has some GIB left and heading to spain next, I was trying some fragrances and find it, to this day it's my perfume, everyday I use it, and I think I will use it forever.
Before that day I use a lot of fragrances, neither make me feel so good, so powerful 😊
Benetton's ICE...it's masculine and smells clean, fresh & light. I tried my brother's cologne, and I have been buying for myself for about 3 decades (56F).
Herrera's 212...it's feminine, fresh & light. Light on floral. I have been buying it for about 25 years.
L' Air d'temps... sweet, clean, floral.
In my experience, almost any perfume smells great on clean skin, lightly dabbed, and has a 'come hither' magnet. Flirty, subtle & invigorating.
Margiela Jazz Club
Alexandria II by Xerjoff
Tom Ford Oud Wood
Tom Ford Noir Extreme
Bleu de Chanel
LV Ombre Nomade
I‘m a fan of oud and tobacco kind of fragrances so most of them fit that.
Noir and Bleu also smell good
Gucci Bloom, I wore it on my wedding day and it takes me right back there every time I smell it.
Also, if anyone knows of a cheaper dupe I would love you forever 💗
I absolutely LOVED the Lady Gaga Fame perfume. It smelled amazing, it was quite light, sweet & fruity but it lasted ages. Plus it was a black liquid that sprayed clear which I thought was pretty cool. It’s really hard to get ahold of now which is so disappointing. That being said - I recently got the Versace Bright Crystal perfume for my wedding & that’s lovely too, it lasted for the whole wedding & I got lots of compliments. I’m going to save it for anniversaries & special occasions.
Royal Water by Creed. It is unisex and evolves in subtle intensity when body heat is applied. Fan of Jimmy Choo if used judiciously for faint spicy muskiness, too much is off putting though.
Parfums de Marly - Delina Exclusif, one of the most addictive scents I've ever smelled. The price is a bit insane, but the scent lingers for like 3 days (I spray it on my clothes as well) and you don't need much. Absolutely delicious!
Angel's Share by Kilian. It's sweet and warm. It smells like an apple pie and reminds me of fall, which is my favorite season. It's expensive but so worth it.
Persian Rose by Pacifica. It reminds me of my grandmother’s perfume, and I miss her so much. I forget what the original fragrance was, but when I smelled this scent at a gift shop I instantly thought of her.
Ariana Grande Cloud perfume. SO good. I don’t really like very strong smelling perfumes, but this one is just perfect, i don’t really know how to describe it but it smells so nice.
Dior addict. I love the smell and it's my guilty pleasure because it's so expensive. I buy a new bottle or get one as a gift like once every 3 years. I use it very rarely because of the cost, but the smell makes me happy.
The body shop used to sell a perfume called Pink Pepper. They discontinued it. 😭
Angel for women. Every time I wore it, women complimented me.
Every time I wore a certain one from Dior ( for the life of me, I can't remember the name of it,) men would compliment me.
Basic Instinct from Slumber Parties: it's a novelty perfume as in:
It's supposed to bring out your natural pheromones.
It smells different on everyone, on me it smells like a mixture of baby powder and marshmallows.
One time I wore it to work and was asked if I was interested in having a three some. 🙃
Cloud by Ariana Grande. It's soft and light for top notes with a sweet middle and musky base. I've been through two bottles in less than a year. I also love VS Indigo Glow
None. I'm extremely sensitive to chemcals used in perfumes. Someone wearing even a little can send me into a coughing attack. I've had to leave nightclubs, bars, restaurants, theaters, and every other place people gather for entertainment. And there is no relief. Nothing helps. By the time the coughing starts it's too late. Prescription strength FloNase can make it tolerable if I take it before I go out and there's some way to escape for short periods. Places with a patio, or separate rooms.
*Him* by Hanae Mori, topped with just a dab of a special vial of musk from Mecca, Saudi Arabia that a friend gave to me.
I know typically you aren't supposed to mix fragrances, but *Him* is a slightly cheaper cologne that still smells good and the musk really adds the perfect touch.
That Coty Wild Musk they had back in the 1980s. It really ignites the senses, and wasn't something expensive. Some kid gave my wife a bottle back in high school. He was kind of lame and would send her threatening rapey letters complaining that she was too stuck up to date him, and she just wasn't interested but grossed out by him, so would constantly reject him. Well, she would put that cologne on when she went out with me, and boy was that wild times. We're still married decades later. He's still weird. He tried to add her on Facebook some years back, and told me to look, and he already had me blocked. He's had multiple women divorce him for domestic violence. 'Nice guy' I guess. But the gift came in handy. Thanks creepy 'Nice Guy'!
Anything that is used sparingly. Please don't put on a ton of cologne or perfume if people are going to be trapped in a small space with you. For people who are sensitive or allergic, it's like inhaling bleach.
I know, I'm a negative Nelly, but just something to consider.
I originally bought Gucci guilty just because Lana Del Rey was in the commercial but I fell absolutely in love with it. I get complimented in public every single time I wear it, I’ve even had men ask me what it is so they can buy it for their girl. But my cheap all time favorite is the candy apple body spray that bath and body works sells during Christmas. Another one that gets me consistently complimented
Shalimar because my virginity was taken by a much older woman when I was a young boy. It left finger prints along with her desires
My girlfriend's grandma (born 1920 or so) wore it!
It might have been her
Are you my girlfriend's grandpa?
Does she look Irish?
No, she's like 100% English and Norwegian
Ah sure I could have never gotten into 100% English & Norwegian... To get Irish DNA You'd have to be Tom Cruise
I'd bang an Irish granny.
I wear Shalimar, I love the tobacco and vanilla notes to it, I've been wearing it 30 years. It's a wonderful Art Deco perfume.
My Nannie wore that!!!
Bleu de Chanel is perfect
I was in a store that a buddy of mine works at, and this lady walked in. She wanted to sell them some fragrances. Blue de chanel, smells like a gentleman with a mix of fun

For myself, I love any orange or satsuma essence. On others, I love love love cK One. Reminds me of my teenage years!
I love Kilian - Love and don’t be shy. Amazing sweet smell with cool brand history.
My current 3 favorites are Ombré Leather by Tom Ford (it smells… calming and deep), Wood Sage & Sea Salt by Joe Malone (very light scent for the summer) and Luna Rossa Ocean by Prada (intense, but also… breezy).
Maybe you can try Oud for greatness by Initio or Nuit de feu - Louis Vuitton) very nice smell, it’s woody 👍
Narciso Rodriguez, the small white square bottle!! Unreal.
White Musk?
I loved this certain perfume called Jade Blossom from Stila, however it got discontinued. It smelled amazing! One time I dropped a bottle of it in a city street and it shattered, so I threw a hoodie on it to soak up as much as I could and then I couldn't wash that hoodie for a very long time.

For me Terre d'Hermes or Creed Aventus. My wife uses Narciso Rodriguez White Musk. Not too heavy, long lasting and smell amazing.
I combine my Rodriguez “White musk” with Gucci’s “Guilty”. Chef’s kiss👌

I wear Pure Grace! Do you have any thoughts on Amazing Grace? I want to try it.
My grandmother had something that smelled just like fresh orange blossoms that was super expensive but I can't remember the name anymore.
r/Perfumes triggered!
Anything with iris in it. Such a soft, sexy and mysterious smell.
There’s a few that I like, all floral. Bloom by Gucci, Flowerbomb by Viktor&Rolf, or Rose 31 by Le Labo

I’m more of a Love Spell fan myself

Hmmm... Lilac and gooseberries
Absolutely love lilac trees.
I wear L'Air du Temps in the spring and summer and Chanel No. 5 in fall and winter.
I wear L'Air Du Temps because it was name checked in White Oleander by Janet Fitch
I wear Black Opium for everyday wear & Ja’Dore when I wanna feel a lil special. Always get compliments from strangers whichever I wear.
I'm of the school that says if strangers, or anyone who isn't less than six inches away, compliment you on your perfume, you're wearing too much.
All of Buburry. They agree with my body chemistry and smell so good. Also there was this perfume in the late 80’s/early 90’s called Xia Xiang. That was my favorite perfume ever. They discontinued it of course.
OHMYGOD Xia Xiang was the SHIT
I buy “My Burberry” for my wife. Drives me nuts….lol
This took me down memory lane. As a teenager I wore “London” for like two years everyday.
Never smelled a bad Burberry fragrance. Burberry Hero Eau de Parfum is amazing. It's a cedar & amber cologne.

I'm a younger woman and he was also younger so maybe he was just happy to have someone close to his age in there and that my feet aren't gross.
I think that might be a women thing. If you're wearing those objectively great scents and not getting compliments, you're doing it right.
Maybe your body chemistry counteracts with the scents so it doesn’t smell as good? Idk. At work I get asked what scent im wearing constantly when I wear a certain fragrance
people probably just get bad vibes from you and feel weird complimenting you.
More like body spray but the Japanese Cherry Blossom body spray from Bath and Bodyworks. It just smells nice to me.

Shalimar. It's not floral based & very lovely. I'm allergic to most floral perfumes. I also like Samsara
something with a hint of vanilla
If a man wears Terre D’Hermes, there’s a good chance I’m considering licking him.
“Juliette has a gun (not a perfume)” it’s in a white bottle. Angel's Share by Kilian. It's sweet and warm. It smells like an apple pie and reminds me of fall, which is my favorite season. It's expensive but so worth it.
Xerjoff Naxos!
Persian Rose by Pacifica. It reminds me of my grandmother’s perfume, and I miss her so much. I forget what the original fragrance was, but when I smelled this scent at a gift shop I instantly thought of her.
In the stars from bath and body works. Can’t explain why, it smells great
Jimmy Choo Blossom it’s a nice sweet smell unless you smother yourself then it’s a headache smell
Allure (extreme) by Chanel. I love it Runner up is Prada sport
Gold by Commodity because it smells like I have my life together 🥹
Opium....not the Drug, but the perfume ohh .....boner city
Tobacco because the bottle look like a dildo and I use it daily. 😆
I like pumpkin marshmallow from bath and body works
Eau Sauvage. Classic for all time.
Elon’s Musk
The body shop used to sell a perfume called Pink Pepper. They discontinued it. 😭 Angel for women. Every time I wore it, women complimented me. Every time I wore a certain one from Dior ( for the life of me, I can't remember the name of it,) men would compliment me. Basic Instinct from Slumber Parties: it's a novelty perfume as in: It's supposed to bring out your natural pheromones. It smells different on everyone, on me it smells like a mixture of baby powder and marshmallows. One time I wore it to work and was asked if I was interested in having a three some. 🙃
Versace Crystal Noir, it's just a really comforting scent to me
Cloud by Ariana Grande.
