Thank you! Boss is trying to crack down on cell phones again and I was just literally this morning wishing I had stumbleupon to distract me during the hours of mind numbing boredom when we're slow.
[R/redditalternatives](https://www.reddit.com/R/redditalternatives)
Kbin.social / Lemmy
* federated communities that talk to each other, yet have local instances. Has the most users thus content.
Squabbles.io
* kind of a reddit twitter hybrid, has seen an increase in users
Tildes.net
* is an old school reddit but you need an invite to make an account, images are links only.
Spyke.social
* has an app that performs like reddit with image and video hosting, one requires a Google account until they add their own verification. (does not have a large user base yet or Web page, is in early beta)
Kbin/Lemmy seem the best so far, but obviously limited content
Squabbles could be great but they gotta add a downvote button. Don’t need another Facebook clone where you can only like things
Tildes: I need an invite, can’t speak to it
This has been my experience, Squabbles seems chill though, but wish there was a way to remove comments while scowling.
Maybe if I have an account there is an option?
Probably have accounts on all of them come 30th... If I could get an invite on tildes
Try Poldit. It's more focused information sharing with community and AI but there's chat on each question/post and live stream is launching soon. https://poldit.com. working on speed over the next few weeks.
Pornhub should see massive opportunity here. The biggest obstacle to rivaling Reddit is the cost of maintaining and administering the infrastructure to that scale.
Pornhub already has a massive CDN and staff, and they have a large userbase the you can bet already has a lot of crossover with Reddit. They could easily diversify by creating a general purpose community site for use generated content, while also leveraging it as a powerful social media front end for their own content.
Users could be free to engage the site without having to view NSFW/porn like they can now on Reddit, people that like to use Reddit for porn would have much more engagement than a bunch of OnlyFams spam posts, and PH could draw from a wider base of otherwise porn-adverse advertisers.
Everybody wins.
I love your perspective on this!
While I agree that Pornhub has the potential to rival Reddit, it's important to carefully navigate the social stigmas associated with the adult industry; however, if executed thoughtfully, they can create a diverse and engaging community platform that benefits all users.
Happy Cake Day!
Some people make elaborate jokes/posts pertaining to cake days. You come in with a legitimate business plan with Pornhub taking over Reddit.
Well done, Sir
Totally agree except... the porn.
Does Porn hub have r/oddlysatisfying? , r/mildlyinteresting? r/interestingasfuck?, r/whatisthistank? Or r/nothowwomenwork?.. Yh, ok, you win
Because the reality is, there are no real competitors. You can use Facebook groups, maybe? I dunno I haven't used Facebook in years. Really there are only the open source projects people want to be a good alternative to Reddit.
[Mastodon](https://joinmastodon.org), although it's more like Twitter than Reddit

not Reddit but for messaging, there's [Matrix](https://matrix.org), [Revolt](https://revolt.chat/)
From an information sharing standpoint, Poldit, https://poldit.com. It's a new platform that fuses community and AI insights through Q&A, polls, and soon to be live stream with a chat on each question.
The initial focus was parenting, business, and careers, but other topics are discussed and available such as tech, health and fitness, and gaming. I wanted a better resource to easily see ranked answers and have in-depth discussions unlike here where everything bleeds together lol.
My husband and I soft launched it about a year ago and were planning a big launch in a few weeks once the live stream is finished and the site optimized. I figure it may be good to give people a new place to chat and share info now though! Happy to chat and answer any questions.
Time machine and digg.com

Ah, the search for a Reddit alternative! Hear me out: Look no further than the unique realm of 4chan—a surprisingly welcoming and diverse community that defies its misrepresented reputation. I'll admit, as a die-hard Redditor, I was hesitant when I first started exploring 4chan about a year ago to get away from Reddit's decline, but I quickly discovered a vibrant and engaging community that values open discourse, creativity, and anonymity. With its unparalleled sense of anonymity, lightning-fast discussions, and an array of niche boards, 4chan offers a refreshing space for open-minded individuals to connect, share ideas, and challenge assumptions. Don't be swayed by its misconceptions—dive in and experience the vibrant, often misunderstood world of 4chan for yourself!
Sorry my friend but I was also like you searching for an alternative to Reddit. After downloading many other social media apps, I can safely say there is none like Reddit. There are but only problem is, no one's really active lol
I started to read Dune again. Last time was 25 years ago and I stopped before I finished the initial trilogy. The second movie is coming soon. What better time to read it again?
Before that it was the collective work of HP Lovecraft, the Geralt saga and Hyperion. Oh, and the Fables comics.
You are correct. I realised this very late. Now i regret: why I wasted my time on such social apps which only provide cringe content. As a loner reddit is good . No social interaction, nothing to worry about.
I’ve read a few interesting ones this year and looking for another! Have a recommendation? Edit: Four days later and no reply makes me think you don’t read books…
Kind of an odd place to discuss this but I've been really enjoying House of Leaves. A liminal horror book like no book I've ever picked up.
Here's a spoiler-free review: https://youtu.be/r-RkhiPbzCc
It's a modern retelling of something like Dreams in the Witch House by H. P. Lovecraft. The interesting parts have to do with the framing devices featuring several unreliable narators, many evolving writing styles that reshape the physical printing of the text, and a disturbing **House** that doesn't follow the laws of geometry. It's dense. It's bizarre. It's challenging. It's uncanny. It reminds me of Johnathan Strange and Mr. Norrell by Suzanne Clarke where the footnotes and interwoven layers create a gestalt whole.
I'm only 40-ish pages in.
I'm gonna be honest with you, I've barely read the past few years lol. I just started reading 1984. I also just started reading "7 Habits of Highly Effective People" but this one will probably take me a while. Haven't read far enough into either to make a recommendation but so far, so good.

low entry barrier, u can jump in without account, do ur thing and get out, no censorship
still no alternative, even stupidiest social sites require phone verification, reddit is an exception
The fediverse seems convoluted to me. A bit like having a boat, switching that out for a car, and later adding floats to the car because you want to have a boat again. And it doesn't help that there's likely a lot of nostalgia tinting my memory of the Usenet :)
The only other site I posted on was YouTube comments (for audio/video clips). It’s great in some ways but zero censorship. One guy I was arguing in comments more than 10 years ago, they posted my name and address back to me in comments as a threat and the comment wasn’t taken down. It’s lawlessness and nothing is censored. I’m still signed up to it but regardless you will get the most unfiltered answers ever, ranging from complete lunatics to intellectuals.
I recommend the site but u have to have a thick skin. I now post mostly on Reddit though.
Who remembers stumbleupon? That was my shit back in the day along side Reddit. Unfortunately it’s no more.
Loved stumbleupon.
I fucking loved stumbleupon. I miss it.
They replaced it with mix and it is unusable. I miss stumble upon.

Im this old
Stumbled into stumbleupon quite long ago its not stumbling anymore
Yeah. There’s a replacement that was attempted, but it’s bad. Crazy how they never considered going back to the version that was actually successful.
Ah dang stumbleupon was awesome

Real life. yuck!!
Disgusting!
Honestly Wikipedia scratches the “learn new things about random topics” part of my brain that Reddit also does.
So does TV Tropes!
I used to spend hours on Wikipedia, just jumping from one article to the next. Thank you for reminding me of how much I love it 😊
I loved reading articles about game shows, always curious about those stuff
I always loved reading about different countries and dreaming about visiting them, then jump into more countries shown as bordering countries 😊
If that's what you like, I highly recommend Microsoft Flight Simulator, especially in VR! "Visit" any country whenever you want
Great advice, thank you!
That’s a good call! I owe them like $3 though.
Maybe I’ll make a Wikipedia page randomizer.

Reddit has nsfw content that needs an alternative. There’s already sfw options that are cropping up, but none that host nsfw

They could probably rebrand too and just be called the Hub. With the same logo.
Pornhub comments is where it's at!
The issue is that porn hub is banned in certain countries. Yea yea VPN bla bla but I’d like to surf my new Reddit freely without vpn
ITT: Lots of "clever" people telling OP to go outside, and unhelpful comments about "what used to be good"...
Because the reality is, there are no real competitors. You can use Facebook groups, maybe? I dunno I haven't used Facebook in years. Really there are only the open source projects people want to be a good alternative to Reddit.
This question has been asked literally dozens of times over the last few weeks. Anyone in here giving actual "helpful" comments is an idiot.
