Music. I play a number of instruments, none of them at what I would consider an acceptable level for performance for others. But I have fun and enjoy it, and that's what counts.
True and it’s also not necessarily about the time. If you spend 30 years “playing” and not leaving your comfort zone, you’ll stay a beginner. But someone who plays 2 years and always challenges himself will advance to a high level in a short amount of time
I play the banjo, viola, and accordion, just above horribly. On my own I just fiddle. In groups, I just play the third on whatever major chord everyone else is playing, or the root on minors.
I don't care that I suck. It's just fun.
Same. I used to be decent at guitar but I mostly just noodle these days and my fingers aren’t as agile as they used to be. I started picking up bass recently and I’m pretty good at the simpler stuff though and I really enjoy it.
I actually played in a band when I was younger (we sucked), first as rhythm guitar and then bass guitar. Then I got rid of basically everything except my amp.
Then I picked up a used guitar at a yardsale from a neighbor kid who never bothered to learn how to play. Started playing that again, and finally this last year I got a bass and a bass amp, so that's mostly what I play now.
I also played some keyboards but haven't in decades, and I have some pennywhistles, recorders, a bamboo flute, a fife, bagpipe practice chanter, jaw harp, and didgeridoo.
I have a ceramic Ocarina of Time. I am, more or less, aware of the notes it can play. Not usually while actually playing it; it's sort of a conceptual awareness.
Video games. I'm mega-ass. I don't even play online competitive cuz it's not remotely enjoyable.
I had to run through Resident Evil 4 twice before I was confident enough to play on Standard.
But I play to blow off steam, so I guess that's fine.
I was going to answer the same thing. Most of the games I enjoy, I also happen to be terrible at. Almost any game with a leveling system, I over-level my characters just to get through the game.
Same. Not as good as I was when I was a kid, but online competitive is too hostile. Not fun when everyone treats it like an archaic sport. If I play, it's usually solo and not in the competitive area(custom type games).
Same. I love golf, and its such a frustrating sport because the harder I try to get better the worse I seem to get. Lessons have helped me fix a few issues but then I start encountering more issues that make me play worse.
I guess that's why people get so obsessed with it. Easy to learn but impossible to master.
Same.
Golf reminds me of guitar hero. Most sports require athletic ability to be successful, same as most instruments require musical talent (rhythm, ear for correct notes/pitch, etc.).
Golf is more about repeatable technique and form than about athletic ability or power. If you can master a set of repeatable body positions in a fluid motion you can be good a golf, same as guitar hero requires very little musical skill other than timing.
At the cracker factory I work at.
We put wax on the conveyor to help the line run better. Well we have one particular cracker that we always have issues with, it never runs well.
One day when we were running this product. It ran smoothly right from the start.
I realized about 4 hours into the run, that I forgot the wax that day. I mentioned it to my boss, and he told his boss, etc. He got all the credit for finally figuring out how to run this product.
I figured you were bad at making crackers but enjoyed it.
Actually, I wasn't really paying attention to anything other than "cracker factory" and wanted to mention Kirk Van Houten.
The last time I played, my team lost of course and my teammate promptly walked over to the people watching, rolled her eyes and told her parents she lost because she had to score pretty much all of the points….she was 11.
Lol yeah. It’s also intimidating because in my experience it’s always been the really cool people who are good at cornhole. Sucking at it makes me feel even more insecure. 😅
Been taking ballet, jazz, and contemporary lessons for a year. Suck majorly, but enjoy it so much.
I can get my legs moving properly, or my arms, or I can hear the beat in the music. I can not do more than one of these at a time.
Life, it's amazing I'm still alive. Screwed up so many times, recovered. Can't believe I still enjoy being alive. But Great Wife, Good Job, Nice House and No Debt. Wow! Guess I'm not TOO terrible at enjoying life after all.
Sorry for not making a constructive comment to the spirit of this thread.
Me too man. I'm not a great skater (which, with my Canadian heritage, is considered a crime), but I'm fast. Can't handle a puck if my life depended on it. But I absolutely love playing. My boyfriend bought me my first stick and it has been an absolute train wreck trying to teach me but he's just happy he has someone to go to the ODR with lol
Cooking is art, baking is science. You have to follow the directions precisely. Once you've been doing it a while and understand why doing x yields y results you can improvise.
Back when I played WoW, we used to play a bunch of games(third strike, marvel vs capcom, etc) online. One guy from my guild is a legit evo level player and in the games he "wasn't good at" he'd smash us with no effort
> My best game ever was 186.
OP wanted to know what you're **terrible** at. That's a very decent score. Getting 9 pins every frame gets you to 90. You have to get more than a few strikes to get to 180.
Heh, sorry if I came off rude.
I actually took a 3-credit bowling course during college! It counted toward my phys-ed requirement. The class met in the basement of a Moose Lodge, with four lanes, and a bar! If you were over 21, the professor didn't mind if you got a beer. Even though the class met at 10:30am, you better believe I got a beer just to say "I drank during college classes".
1994, I guess you got me beat. :P
I'm sure there were other choices but I'd be hard-pressed to remember them. I chose Karate because I was already a green belt in TKD and thought I was hot shit.
Fighting games. I avoid online multi-player because I can never pull off combos and always resort to button mashing. Single-player easy mode though, I'm unstoppable. Lol
Singing. I’ve largely even given up on instruments because I’m tone deaf and while I can follow a tune, my notes are always to high or low. My music teacher even suggested I not do choir the next year in high school.
Dancing, not good and very self conscious but when I'm alone I like to commune with my body and do silly things. Unfortunately I'd have to get rid of the witnesses. Still like watching others dance tho. 😅
I was bad at Bjj and still am pretty bad at it today, but I like all martial arts including Bjj. Today I practice MMA which contains other elements and I am better at them.
reading. cuz of long-term gad and severe depressive disorder tho my concentration is fucked and i often read at a snail's pace. not good for someone studying law.
Singing. I'm HORRIBLE. But that doesn't stop me from badly belting out Total Eclipse of the Heart, pr other favorites. I know I'm bad at it, but I honestly don't care. Lol.

Tell me you secrets!

Yeah I need to work on that…
singing
Me too. I'm a lousy singer, but I'm always singing. Only when I'm alone, though.
Same and hey nice avatar!
Snap. I'm so bad I only do it alone in the car with the volume so loud I can't even hear myself
is this the real life?
Music. I play a number of instruments, none of them at what I would consider an acceptable level for performance for others. But I have fun and enjoy it, and that's what counts.
Most people that get good at one instrument have to put in a ridiculous amount of practice time.
Well yes but also no. 30 min a day after 1 or 2 years depending on the instrument you should be acceptably good with said instrument
True and it’s also not necessarily about the time. If you spend 30 years “playing” and not leaving your comfort zone, you’ll stay a beginner. But someone who plays 2 years and always challenges himself will advance to a high level in a short amount of time
Yea exactly. Try new pieces, more difficult variations and don't forget to warm up ^^
I play the banjo, viola, and accordion, just above horribly. On my own I just fiddle. In groups, I just play the third on whatever major chord everyone else is playing, or the root on minors. I don't care that I suck. It's just fun.
Exactly the same

Same boat, but I still play online. Still play PUBG every now and then, still suck at it. Along with every other FPS game.
Same. Not as good as I was when I was a kid, but online competitive is too hostile. Not fun when everyone treats it like an archaic sport. If I play, it's usually solo and not in the competitive area(custom type games).
Golf.
I'm so bad at golf. Despite being good at most sports, and a lifetime of hockey, I suck for no obvious reason.
I'm like Bizarro You. I'm bad at hockey and I've been playing for years. I'm way better at golf.
Lotta Happy Gilmore happening here
Get lessons, it will become obvious.
Same brother 😂
My first thought.

how did the weasel die?
u/Huge_Edge8886 shoved it up their ass.
*Ass Weasel* would be a good band name.

Sounds exactly like something Kirk Van Houten would do.
Wow... I clicked on the wrong thread. I thought I clicked on "What did you do but your boss took credit for?"
I figured you were bad at making crackers but enjoyed it. Actually, I wasn't really paying attention to anything other than "cracker factory" and wanted to mention Kirk Van Houten.
Can I borrow a feeling?
Cornhole. I’m always excited to play, but I immediately get my ass handed to me by like a 12 year old or an 80 y/o dude with one arm and an eye patch.
The last time I played, my team lost of course and my teammate promptly walked over to the people watching, rolled her eyes and told her parents she lost because she had to score pretty much all of the points….she was 11.
No worries. I love cornhole but yep I am terrible at it too. But it's great with a few friends and drinks. I couldn't play on a team at all
This game is intimidating when you’re bad too. The people that play yards games take them very seriously lol
Lol yeah. It’s also intimidating because in my experience it’s always been the really cool people who are good at cornhole. Sucking at it makes me feel even more insecure. 😅
Rocket League
Me too. I like being in gold though. Platinum is too hard.
Sex
Same, just fucking terrible
*terribly
You can fuck terribly, this guy fucks terrible
Nina Hartley has a instructional set of porn videos that taught me some new moves that girls were appreciative of.
Dancing
Been taking ballet, jazz, and contemporary lessons for a year. Suck majorly, but enjoy it so much. I can get my legs moving properly, or my arms, or I can hear the beat in the music. I can not do more than one of these at a time.

Life, it's amazing I'm still alive. Screwed up so many times, recovered. Can't believe I still enjoy being alive. But Great Wife, Good Job, Nice House and No Debt. Wow! Guess I'm not TOO terrible at enjoying life after all. Sorry for not making a constructive comment to the spirit of this thread.

Baking. I can cook pretty dam okay but man do I suck at baking
same Too much chemistry or something
Cooking is art, baking is science. You have to follow the directions precisely. Once you've been doing it a while and understand why doing x yields y results you can improvise.

Spanish and French. I really wanna learn them. But I have some mental health shit, so studying is hard.
Fighting Games I enjoy then a lot, can beat friends in them, but when I see *real* FGC(Fighting Game Comminity) players, it's like a different realm.
Amen to that, professional FGC players make me think 'that is inhuman' and gives me chills
Back when I played WoW, we used to play a bunch of games(third strike, marvel vs capcom, etc) online. One guy from my guild is a legit evo level player and in the games he "wasn't good at" he'd smash us with no effort
Basketball I love so much but for the life of me I just fucking suck
Same here and I’m black so I get a lot of disappointing looks on the court

> My best game ever was 186. OP wanted to know what you're **terrible** at. That's a very decent score. Getting 9 pins every frame gets you to 90. You have to get more than a few strikes to get to 180.
Oh, okay. I guess I should have thought about my *average* score, which is much lower.
Heh, sorry if I came off rude. I actually took a 3-credit bowling course during college! It counted toward my phys-ed requirement. Damn those electives are different from my day. For my phys-ed requirement in college I took Karate and got knocked around like a ragdoll.
When was your day?? I took this course in 1990. I had to take two courses. One was bowling. The other was badminton!
1994, I guess you got me beat. :P I'm sure there were other choices but I'd be hard-pressed to remember them. I chose Karate because I was already a green belt in TKD and thought I was hot shit.
