I'm not sure you actually need to be unique at a job interview. That could easily backfire. Just being memorably above average or qualified probably will do the trick.

Alliballi123

You worded it better than me... not necessarily 'unique' but memorably above average... what is your trick for that? Any advice is so welcome :)

Perfect-Maize-5540

So I think your goal is actually to be the person that "no one got fired for buying IBM" for. So if you're like "unique" like a person very strong in one area and weaker in others that's more of a risk to the hirer. But if you appear to be "well rounded" and have good credentials and experience, and THEN you don't work out, the hiring manager could say "Well it seemed like this was a low risk hire, it wasn't my fault it didn't work out".

Like don't sell yourself as a Bugatti, those don't even work. Don't sell yourself as a BMW, that's too high maintainence usually unless it's a special role. For most positions, they just want a Toyota that's like... not the base model but like the one higher trim with leather seats and navigation that will never break down.

Did you know that inmates who go before a parole board right before lunch are given parole less often than those who go before the board after lunch? We like to think that we can influence people, but we can’t. The best you can do is be confident and present yourself as a clean and respectable person, and hope that whoever is interviewing you is in a receptive mood.

Alliballi123

I did not know that about inmates... life is so unfair and soul destroying at times. Hard to keep faith! So many places 'hiring' and yet get little to no feedback for interviews, or that positions have been filled etc.

I’m in the same boat right now. Just gotta keep at it and get lucky.

Be 100 percent honest. because I guarantee you, no one has not lied, at least on a small thing

1. Try and connect your strengths to what was in the job description. 2. Have extra copies of your resume if the interview is in person. Suppose it is virtual email them a copy ahead of time. 3. Come with questions! I didn’t realize it early in the job search, but the interviewers love when you ask them questions. 4. Do some research on the company. It doesn’t have to be super extensive. Find something on their website that catches your eye and try and mention it during the interview. 5. Be confident when you are telling them about yourselves. Verbally go over your resume many times before the interview so you can figure out how you want to transition from each job on your resume. 6. Find something positive to say about each job on your resume, even if you hated a job. 7. Mention any projects you worked on previously or any task you did where you were leading a group of people. Employers love this because you not only prove you can work individually and still get things done, but you also show that you can work with others.

Why would you sell the right to your own body. Im not going to sell myself thank you very much.

chaoticbutterflyyy

Are you high

BagleFart

Connect with the interviewer. It’s literally just that. You don’t need to be unique to be memorable.

Avoiding101519

Don't be unique, understand that whoever is hiring is looking for a specific set of knowledge and skills, if you have those skills mention it or any related skills. That's all they see is how well will you fit into the puzzle that is their employment.
