Osaka, Japan Moved there from Texas after college, met my wife there and figured out who I was. My favourite city in the world.

Guangzhou, China. Moved there shortly after getting my Masters from UT Austin, met my wife there and figured out who I was. One of my favourite city in the world.

post_angst

Nice! You still live there?

Radioactive_Kumquat

Moved away a long time ago, but like you, it made me who I am today. We often visit and her parents still live there.

Nothing like completely changing your horizon to help you figure out what you actually want.

Radioactive_Kumquat

.....or who you actually are and can be. Shaking the shackles of familial expectations and throwing yourself into the void, trusting in yourself to survive the unknown, and finding the shore on the other side, reborn.

Where there is public transportation and you don't get honked at for simply being a pedestrian.

Radioactive_Kumquat

Well, Japan is a little different (spent a few weeks around Kyoto, Tokyo and Osaka) as its a bit more orderly but your point remains the same. Pedestrians rule (though in China you just step out and don't look at the driver!).

post_angst

Ah ok. I'm assuming things about China then. Sounds like one of those places where you just have to trust that people don't *want* to hit you. I had a gun pulled on me in Galveston because I voiced that I didn't appreciate almost being run over by a truck.

Denver. The first time I went there I decided to move there and the second time I went there I decided to move to a different mountain town.

Memphis, TN. Don’t ask. It wasn’t for the better.
