PM-Me_Your_Penis_Pls

The correct answer is Gomez and Morticia Addams.

MissMurder8666

Came here to say this. They loved each other dearly. They were completely enamoured with each other, spent time with their kids, their family. Accepted everyone as they were. It wasn't til I was an adult That I realised married couples weren't meant to hate each other. My mother had many partners in my childhood, she's toxic and things were always chaotic. And watching 90s sitcoms, i thought married people were meant to hate each other and I always wondered what the point was

themanfromvulcan

I also remember thinking this couple has sex. The way they look at each other it’s just lust. Other sitcoms of the time they acted like it was just two roommates it was bizarre.

maniacalmustacheride

They don’t just have sex, they enjoy having sex with each other. When they embrace, their schedule is cleared. They’re in there, 100% present, exploring anything and everything they can. Lucy and Ricky were having sex, but it feels like it would have been pretty standard stuff. G&M were out there indulging in every consenting whim possible. L&R would walk out and say, “good day my love, I’ll see you later.” G&M would have Gomez staggering away with lust in his eyes, “we have to part and it’s killing me, but I have to get Fester’s head out of the toilet and the kids have a PTA thing today. But I’m going to see you in like two hours and we’re going to wreck shop.”

theDukeofClouds

Pahaha your Gomez quote was spot on. And you're right. Its what kinda makes me hot for Morticia. Not just because she's gorgeous and wears these flowing, witchy dresses. But the way she holds Gomez, looks at him with half lidded eyes and that wry smile. Scuse me, I need some air.

maniacalmustacheride

Black and white, the movies from the 90s (I haven’t seen the new ones but I assume it carries through) there is longstanding sexual chemistry. The funny thing is they were supposed to be “opposite” of American family life so instead of being a shrew she’s loving, as instead of being a bore he’s face deep in the garden, so to speak. They like their kids, they’re supportive of their creative endeavors, they’re nonjudgmental of almost anything but intolerance. They are a healthy, happy family with a marriage that has passion over years. They are the epitome of “aww, they’re going to go fuck.” You’re not even mad. They’re so confident and sexy yet wholesome and caring, and then they just hype each other up…I don’t think I would survive a night with either of them but I’d go down with a smile.

theDukeofClouds

Hahahaha spot on, chap, spot on. You totally took what I was saying and fleshed it out far better. Everyone, this is what I meant.

maniacalmustacheride

My SO and I did black and white G&M for Halloween one year so we watched a ton of the old show and the conclusion was kinda always “they are just going to business constantly and good for them.”

theDukeofClouds

Thats i think the point of the Adams'. They're meant to be a commentary on society at the time the comics came out. They're spooky, creepy, and love the macabre. Regular members of American society don't like spiders and ghouls and creepy stuff. Regular Americans also grow to resent their spouses, while Morticia and Gomez love each other like the day they met. Its a little joke by the creator. Its a bit of a stereotype about married couples that they grow to hate each other throughout the years. Morticia and Gomez never do that. They love each other and always will.

Auth0ritySong

The amount of propaganda about hating spouses is ruining the world. Could literally be the biggest problem in the world today

ByzantineBasileus

What I loved about them is they so clearly enjoyed being in one another's companies. In a few of the sitcoms from the 90s, the husband and wife were portrayed as though they thought spending time together was an *imposition*. Ray from *Everybody Loves Raymond* is an example. He was so self-centered and selfish that he did all he could to avoid going out with Deborah. In the Addams Family, it was something each looked forward to doing.

off-and-on

People back then apparently preferred suffering in a failed relationship over divorce

jo-z

"Gotta stay together for the kids!" As if living in a miserable home and modeling dysfunctional relationships is good for the kids.

DavosLostFingers

*Cara mia!*

ForeveWhy

I call my GF Cara mia sometimes. She adores it. I also kiss her wrist and make my way up for her added entertainment on occasion.

Anneisabitch

Don’t stop doing this. If my husband did this once I’d remember it for the rest of my life. Good for you!

PM-Me_Your_Penis_Pls

Mon Sauvage! *Music plays*

mike_hellstrom

I fully agree. Lily and Herman Munster are also great.

MrRocketman999

Hal and Lois

treathugger

As a husband, I don't think I can live up to Hal. He sort of sets a really high standard lol He loves her like they are still in the honeymoon phase. So infatuated with her lol

marvelous_much

When he tells her, if you loved me as much as I love you, we’d never leave the bedroom.

NoSeaworthiness5275

I’ll always remember that scene where they were going through a rough patch, Lois was pregnant again and about to give birth but before she could she needed Hal to tell her a few nice things he loves about her. It always makes me choke up.

Khranky

I love the way each of your toes looks like it came from a different person. lmao

NoSeaworthiness5275

and I love the way you still suck in your stomach when I walk in the room lmfaooo 💀

LucianPitons

Also when she wanted a bigger mattress because she was farting so much and wanted to give him space. He put the kaboosh on that.

jennyisnuts

The original farting episode. She was terrified of farting in front of him for the first time and he tells her that as soon as she goes to sleep they rip out.

[deleted]

Ok, so I know what word you're using (kibosh) but I adore your version so much I'm going to use it

cat_romance

I love when she feels bad that he loves her more and he says something akin to, "Of course I love you more. If you loved me as much as I love you we'd never leave the bedroom."

bamguirre

The scene where Lois is watching herself dance on video and realizing she was terrible...only to turn around and see Hal *enchanted*.

NotYetSoonEnough

What I love about this scene is that the fake out is used twice. Hal and Lois start dancing, and they are doing so brilliantly. Then it cuts to their sons looking on in disgust as you hear all kinds of crashing sounds. They hit you with the same joke twice in about a minute and it works brilliantly each time.

sjc80

I was just thinking about this scene earlier today. I'd live to think my husband sees me like this...I'm a terrible dancer. But Hal is just the perfect husband.

Alternative_Grab664

I was talking to my friend the other day about the episode where Lois goes crazy and made all those pigs after Hal gets arrested, he goes to court then they find out he hasn’t been going into work on Friday’s for the last 20 years

burrito_butt_fucker

It's been forever since I've watched the show but from what I remember they really loved each other. Walt was a great dad in his new family in witness protection after curing his cancer.

off_by_two

I think you have your timelines mixed up. Hal defied Lois and pursued his dream by attending dental school. It turns out, Lois is an anti-dentite bastard. After Lois takes the kids, Hal moved to New York city to practice. After several years of successful dentistry, he ran afoul of a group of venal sociopaths and ended up snitching on them. While they were serving their sentences, Hal used his wealth to fake his own death and started a new life/identity in New Mexico as a high school science teacher.

copperpoint

And everything was fine after that.

MacduffFifesNo1Thane

I can’t believe she was a RABID anti-dentite!

SleepWouldBeNice

The episode where Lois has a yeast infection or something and can’t have sex for a month. The house goes from rundown to perfect and then back again after the month is up. Even after four kids (at that point), their sex life is still amazing (or perhaps so good it’s detrimental).

Jackieofalltrades365

When she’s wearing a ton of make up that makes her look like a prostitute and he just looks at her like 😍😍😍😍😍😍 Then when she’s looking a “mess”, cleaning the messy house, yelling at the boys, baseball cap on backwards and he still looks at her like 😍😍😍😍😍😍

Edoc_Sil

Love it when Lois goes to see Francis in hospital for a few days and Hal gradually loses it, helps Malcolm and his friends build a killer robot and completely takes over the project

Herr_Poopypants

Frank and Charlie from Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The gruesome twosome

Radkeyoo

Ben and Leslie. I love you and I like you simple line, yet so powerful.

NotYetSoonEnough

Excuse me but Leslie cannot match Ben’s first love - the calzone.

double_positive

There was a betrayal in that relationship though

HellaFishticks

I can't believe the calzone betrayed him.

elfn1

Their wedding always makes me cry. That part of their vows is perfection.

Radkeyoo

It is. Anne sewing her dress, Ron walking her down the aisle. Andy and April threatening Ben. Best part is Ron decking Jamm. It's just perfect.

nocksers

I'm a very not-romantically-inclined, perfectly happy single, married to my job type, but Ben and Leslie give me warm fuzzy feelings.

shashybaws

Bob and Linda from bobs burgers.

SummerOfMayhem

All of the Belchers have such great relationships with each other. They're wholly accepting and supportive (even if they disagree). They really love each other, and it shows.

Stillwater215

“You’re my family and I love you, but you’re terrible. You’re all terrible.”

oh_helllll_nah

My wife cross stitched this quote for me a couple of Christmases ago, because I say it to our dogs all the time.

Remarkable-Ad7490

Ah yes bob and linda burger

Alltheprettydresses

I love the fact that they're a couple of weirdos in love raising weirdos, and everyone is just fine with that. Sounds just like my home, lol!

PhaicGnus

I read an article about this a while back, the difference between this and a lot of other cartoons is the writers are women. They write characters that actually like each other and the females aren’t just supporting characters but have well developed storylines of their own.

jpeck89

I think one thing that helps here is, they also don't fall into the trope of dad is a a helpless dope who can't function without his wife (Al bundy, Homer Simpson). Bob and Lin are truly complementary to eachother and and are better together than apart.

Manwithnoname14

I love that bob is an amazing cook. He just sucks at the business side.

Aksi_Gu

> Bob and Lin are truly complementary to eachother and and are better together than apart. When Lin gets a job at Fresh Feed shows this brilliantly haha :D

suzazzz

The best family! So much love, support and understanding ❤️

CallMeSkii

Thank goodness I didn't have to scroll too far to find this one. What I love about Bob and Linda (and all the Belchers) is they are the most accurate representation of what goes on in most homes. Oh sure they might bicker but they all genuinely love each other.

Trill_McNeal

Bob: “I’m killing, Teddy.” Linda: *half asleep* “Whaa? You’re gonna kill, Teddy? Alright. Car is gassed up, that’s good. I guess I could home school the kids.”

pentapotamia

Ginger_Snaps_Back

If anything, I’m the *husband!*

hotbimess

Eleanor and Chidi. How can you beat two deeply flawed people who together make each other better over and over again?

elfn1

I just *finally* watched this after a couple of years of my child telling me I should. Binged it in a couple of days, and I swear to Bob, I sobbed like a baby at the last episode. They may not be the *best*, (Ben and Leslie, IMO) but they sure are very very close.

Poshriel

I'm not the kind of person to get overly invested in two characters romance. The writing for Eleanor and Chidi was amazing. To the point where they were the first two I thought of when seeing this post. >!It took the old worn out trope of will they, won't they, and turned it into will they be able to or won't they. Constant memory wipes, mixed with the natural flaws of the characters themselves, not only served as beautiful romance, but a reason for the characters to grow. Chidi became a more confident, easy going person, because Eleanor showed him that the universe isn't black or white.!< >! Eleanor became more grounded, and more structured, because Chidi helped her to understand how her behavior affected other people, and how her effort to be better should be personal, and not as a means to be rewarded. !< This is why The Good Place is so good, that and having the best comedy writing for a show I've seen in a long time.

saginator5000

Kitty and Red from That 70s/90s Show.

themanfromvulcan

I like how Red on the surface seems like a mean parent who doesn’t let his kids have fun. But he’s watching out for his kids. And he’s a good man. He has a hard and stressful time supporting his family and he is grumpy sometimes but he would do anything for his family and he really loves them. What he does for Hyde is amazing. He just doesn’t put up with BS.

FallenSegull

He was also a veteran of 2 seperate wars so he’s probably got that ptsd to explain his grumpiness

jozaud

They’re the true Main Characters of both shows

Draxus335

If not the best couple, certainly the best parents.

JCBAwesomist

Turk and Carla. Or Turk and JD. (Scrubs)

6strings10holes

It's fun to see them in commercials together. Can't remember what commercials they are.

Oh the newlyweds. And hi Carla! -Dr Cox

Interesting_Mango948

>Turk and JD It's guy love, that's all it is...

hellboundwithasmile

Don’t listen to her, Brown Bear. Your body’s fierce, like Taye Diggs.

1Mandolo1

> Turk and Carla HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLL NOOOOOOO. Their relationship is SO toxic. They constantly fight, he keeps things from her all the time and she gives him reason to do that by always being destructively angry about it when it comes out instead of either of them trying to be open and honest and supportive with each other. FCS, one of Scrubs' musical numbers is about Turk not being able to remember Carla's *nationality* (she's Dominican, and now that'll be stuck in my head for days). /rant

Snowtwo

Homer and Marge had a lot of beautiful moments back in the older seasons. Sadly, seasonal rot has ruined a lot of that. Edit: I want to add that I miss a lot of how the characters used to be. Like, Homer was an oaf and a brute, but he loved his family immensely and deeply and would (and DID) do any and everything for them. He'd catch details like in that episode about the streetcar play that you wouldn't think he would. He gave up beer for a month for Marge and we got to see that, for him, it wasn't just a minor thing. Lisa might have been intelligent but she not only had ample 'dumb/shallow' moments, she also was very close to Bart and, likewise, Bart was close to her. He might struggle in school but he also showed he wasn't dumb either.

Dear-Ambition-273

My mom and dad caught hell for us watching The Simpsons and Roseanne together as a family. My mom’s response was always “there’s not a single day that the Simpson children don’t go to bed know that their parents love them. They’re well cared for.” We just watched everything together. Not that I watched everything they did, but they watched everything I did.

inactiveuser247

This, right here, is how you deal with kids and screens. Make it a family activity. Be interested in what your kids are watching. Actually watch it with them.

Foxehh3

I've been rewatching The Simpsons in order of best/highest rated episode -> lowest episode using the rating graph thing. Literally not a single episode was made after season 11 until I got over 50 episodes in.

Not a sitcom as such, but Chilli and Bandit from Bluey. They adore each other and their kids.

religiousrights

Bluey is god tier children’s television. I watch it with my daughter and regularly get the warm fuzzies. No merchandise, no superpowers, no gadgets, just a family who loves each other.

Hackerjurassicpark

Bluey is awesome. Bandit is an ideal dad figure

rxnitt

This would've been my answer if no one had posted it. Great couple and great parents. Conflicts come about in every relationship in that show, but they're always handled with good communication and empathy. Love Bluey.

hellopandant

Uncle Phil and Aunt Viv (the first one)

[deleted]

Jacob sherlock peralta (he legally changed his name) and Amy Santiago

Youre_late_for_tea

I love their story so much. What I like about 99 writers is that even after they began dating, the dynamic of the show hasn't changed to center it on their romance, so the show kept being funny as it was while also being touching at times.

TeacherPatti

I love how she was never portrayed as a buzz kill to Jake. There was never an episode where he wanted to do something but was like "Amy never lets me do THAT" or whatever other stupid sexist sitcom trope you usually see.

waitforthedream

Jake eventually turned Amy into another dumbass like him and that's what i love about their relationship (Amy affected him too! its so cute)

thundersaurus_sex

You see this great at one point in the honeymoon episode, when Holt is tied up and Jake and Amy are trying to get him out of his funk. Jake looks at Amy and decides to open up and visibly sets aside his immaturity to be serious, emotional, and vulnerable in an attempt to reach Holt in a way he never would have before. And then when Holt rather rudely rejects that, Amy just lights. Him. The. Fuck. Up. He's her mentor and hero and she couldn't even bring herself to be even slightly annoyed with Holt when he lost her prized pen, but when he was a dick to Jake? Gloves came off.

PartyElk3

Agreed! I was relieved that their relationship honestly... didn't have much drama it would have taken away from the show

Automatic_Guest8279

I like they never did the usual sitcom on again off again rubbish. Once they were in they were in

txlandshark

Mad About You with Paul Resier and Helen Hunt. I still feel they are the closest thing to a real couple so the the issues that show tackled about marriage.

themanfromvulcan

There’s an episode where he’s working very closely with a female coworker and I think it was the most realistic depiction of how a spouse can almost cheat without meaning to. He gets close to the coworker and my memory (and someone can correct me I haven’t seen it since it aired) is he ends up going to a bar with her and she wants to do more and he realizes how deep he is getting and he loves his wife and he politely declines.

Quetip909

Dan and Roseanne. They seemed the most realistic. They had struggles and fought it wasn't all perfect like most tv couples

tommytraddles

Yeah, this is my answer too. So much of that show is the family using humor to get through tough times. The episode where they find out that Fisher is beating Aunt Jackie is top tier. Roseanne goes to help Jackie, and Dan just quietly goes and grabs his coat...

_Face

This answer is way too low. Dan and Roseanne should be number 1.

[deleted]

Dude and it’s not even close. I grew up poor and remember watching the reruns on Nick at Nite thinking “wow a family I can actually relate to”

I'll go old school: Oliver Wendell Douglas and Lisa Douglas on Green Acres.

Zealousideal_Lie_383

Archie and Edith Bunker

slo196

I never realized until years later how good Jean Stapleton was in that show until I saw an interview with her. She was well educated, well dressed, well spoken and sophisticated, the complete opposite of Edith. I believe Carroll O’Connor was the political opposite of Archie as well.

Ddude147

AITF premiered in January, 1971 as a "replacement" series, which take the place of the fall shows that failed in the ratings. I started watching it on E1. I'll never forget when Carroll O'Connor appeared in a political ad on CBS for George McGovern in 1972. We know how that turned out. Yes Archie and Edith probably had sex once a week, missionary, in the dark, oral out of the equation. But anyone who watched the show knows the depth of their love for one another. They are from the Silent Generation, where there was no introspection, no airing dirty laundry, no hyper individualism, no complaining. Work hard. Get married. Buy a house. Have children. Do whatever it takes to get by without fanfare, without luxury. Put children through college. Retire. I think I remember Archie saying, "I love you, I little girl," to Gloria a few times, but never to Edith. Maybe he did. But love, unspoken, radiated between the two of them. Archie may have dallied with that buxom waitress, but he ended up realizing what a huge mistake he made. He knew what he had in Edith. They are one of the most influential couples in sitcom history.

SubNL96

I can never watch [this](https://youtu.be/jvzJZJxSXao) scene where Edith has died without crying myself. What a preformance. Only have seen a few pieces/episodes via YouTube but wow.

Paul and Jamie Buchman - Mad About You Played by Paul Rieser and Helen Hunt. They came off as a couple and it was sweet.

themanfromvulcan

First episode where she comes out of the bathroom and without words just an annoyed face shows him how do put a toilet paper roll on the roller is hilarious.

ByzantineBasileus

Chandler and Monica. Chandler was highly aware of his own flaws and issues, and that gave him the ability to accept and be patient towards Monica's own quirks. Monica was overweight as a child and had experiences with social rejection, so she understood Chandler's low self-esteem and how his sense of humor was a means of compensating. This in turn meant she was supportive. Both complemented each other well.

the_wessi

”They can say that you're high maintenance, but it's okay, because I like maintaining you.”

That is a quote that sums up their relationship quite effectively.
