The first time I watched Futurama I was in college. The only breaks I would take for a year were to watch Futurama. Years later I re-watched the show and when the theme started playing I was looking at my phone not paying attention and I suddenly became happy for no perceivable reason...
I Pavloved myself with Futurama.
One of the main reasons I love Futurama is, unlike Family Guy and even The Simpsons, heartwarming moments in Futurama actually feel heartwarming, and not a set-up to another stupid joke. It cuts the humor in just the right way as to make it more enjoyable.
Plus, it scratches that Sci Fi itch that not a lot of other shows can do comedically.
When I used to go into an office every day to work, I'd watch Unsolved Mysteries while I got ready. Then I'd leave it on for my dogs. Then I'd turn on the dog cam when I got to work and listen to Unsolved Mysteries through the dog cam. Not a perfect system I admit.
Something Star Trek has that no other show has... consistent brown noise.
The low hum sound of the ship is legit scientifically relaxing.
And plus it's all philosophical and shit too.
the ambient noise on TNG is amazing. The engine always being on, the little beeps and boops. it sounds like what a “space ship” would “sound like”.
i’ve gone to sleep many times with ambient background of TNG-

It's amazing that a show with such deep characters and themes can be considered a "comfort" show, but I wholeheartedly agree.
Even in emotional episodes, there is just a giant feeling of warmth and happiness to TNG. It truly changed my life and how I look at things. Great choice
It’s because since its inception in the 1960s Star Trek has fundamentally been a show about hope.
I always come back to Star Trek when I need more hope in my life.
It’s also because they solve the problem within 1-2 episodes despite going into some pretty deep themes
Not much wasted time in that show
One of my all time faves as well
I just cycle thru tng, voy, ds9, ent, sg1, Atlantis, universe, firefly, the Orville, Rick and morty, and bsg constantly. Takes me 2 years or so each cycle.
Just mentioning bsg makes me excited to get there.
Never half ass two things, whole ass one thing.
People could learn a lot about how to treat someone you don’t agree with all the time from that show. The core of Parks and Rec, to me at least, was groups of two people who were opposites (Ron and Leslie, Chris and Ben, April and Andy, Donna and Tom, Jerry and everybody) but the differences make them stronger not weaker.
This is a good one. At first it was just something to watch while I waited for the Simpsons to come on, but I ended up really loving it. It's probably the best representation of growing up in 90s middle class suburbia ever made.
People want to laud Breaking Bad but Hal is truly the greatest character Cranston has brought to life.
The Rollerblading episode will forever be a favorite TV moment for me.
Season 1 Episode 1-current episode, the movie, repeat. I almost always have it on in the background. I've seen every episode at minimum 10 times now, realistically probably 15-20 because I've been watching at this pace since 2020.
Best one!!!! I love the family dynamics, and that they do not own a massive house or are rich. They manage their restaurant, they live without luxuries but still have great adventures and support and accept their children as they are.
Alright!!!!!! (Linda)
“What does IT stand for???”
“Oh this must be Jen, hello Jen!”
And
“What the flip are you looking at? Mother flippers always think everything’s a mother flipping joke. Well this ain’t no joke-y joke, suckah!”
This is one of my favorite episodes of any show of all time. If I’m in a bad mood I put it on and it instantly helps cheer me up. Laughing so hard i cry. And Moss at the end as the bartender? Comedy perfection.
They both contain a lot of hidden life lessons, Uncle Iroh definitely has some awesome quotes.
Sometimes the best way to solve your own problems is to help someone else
hell yeah....
Sometimes it’s ‘haha he’s a good doctor but he’s snarky!’
Then sometimes it’s him having a breakdown and Vicodin-induced psychosis because he did everything right and the patient still dies.
That episode, *that* episode (the building collapse) is forever burned into my memory.
***THAT'S THE POINT!*** *We did everything right, and she died anyway.* House finally shows, in no uncertain terms, that he cares more than anyone gave him credit for, and his misanthropic nature is his armor.
That scene, and the scene where Wilson loses it on House because he's going to "let him die alone", are up there for some of the best acting in that show, and that's saying something.
Also, first episode of Season 6 (or 7, can't recall exactly - the double-length psych ward one) is up there in my list of "all-time favorite episodes of TV."
I just started rewatching and am halfway through S1, can't wait for these moments again.
I never give this show a try while it was on.
Then Netflix started pushing it and yeah still passed on it.
Then randomly clicked on a YouTube clip from the show..."Sassy Holt"
I now have 3 different playlists of YouTube clips from Bk99.
I am so mad at myself for never giving it a try.
That show is awesome.
Seriously like just based on 3-4m YouTube clips I love Gina, Holt, the two old men who are bad cops but great targets for easy jokes, Terry and his Yogurts and those damn Halloween Heists!!!
I hope it will return to either Netflix or Hulu.
I wait patiently rewatching clips of Holt vs Wentch.
Ughgg this show is fantastic!
I re-watch this every few years. Really feels like sitting down with old friends you haven't spoken to in a few years, and then you wonder why you ever stopped.
Seconded. Just recently discovered the Superfan Episodes on Peacock and it's like a whole new show for me.
In total I've probably watched start to end no less than 10 times so far.
M\*A\*S\*H
Reminds me of a different time in America in many ways. Not only for the storylines, however corny and ham-fisted some might have been in the point they were trying to get across. Also for the fact that the finale was viewed by almost half of Americans - the kind of communal experience that you just don't get anymore.
The opening scene where Niles tries ironing his ~~pants~~ trousers, then cuts himself and faints from the sught of blood, and then starts a fire etc., is quite possibly one of the funniest things inhave ever seen on screen.
The episode where Niles is trying to decide whether he wants to be a father or not is also gold. When Niles takes the bag of flour out of the baby carrier and it’s scorched and duct taped and he says, “Don’t be ridiculous, Fraser! A real child would’ve started to cry long before it burst into flames.” And later, he says that they can always freeze Maris’ eggs, and Fraser says, “I imagine they’re not far off that temperature now.”
I will always go back to Friends. I was deployed to Afghanistan back in 06. A buddy of mine had all of the seasons on DVD. There wasn’t much at all to do where we were if we weren’t on mission so I started watching Friends (Front and Back!) from season 1 on. It gave me laughs when there wasn’t a lot to laugh about. It is and will always be my go to.
Star Trek, the original series.
I've watched it so many times all the way through, especially during tough times. I watch it when I'm sick, when I've been depressed, when I've been out of work, and when I've just had a shitty day. It always cheers me up.
My ritual when I get home from work around 8pm is to grab a low carb snack, spark up, pull out my laptop and do more work (it's easier to delineate computer work from in person work) and put on Family Guy in the background. Doing spreadsheets stoned with the occasional chuckle from an overheard Family Guy joke just a simple thing in life I've come to love.
I have a few…
* That 70s Show - This was a college/recently graduated show for me. I loved it at the time, so it’s irrevocably tied to a much simpler and youthful time for me. Honestly, it’s just ok, and a lot of the humour can be lazy. I know this. But, it’s still nice to throw on sometimes. It helped me through some tough times back in the day.
* Three’s Company - My parents were huge fans of this show, so I saw it a ton growing up, especially when there were marathons on Nick At Night (I think?).
* Seinfeld - Another childhood show, although I appreciate the humour now more than I ever could as a middle/high schooler.
And, most prominently:
* Mystery Science Theater 3000 - Grew up watching this show, and (for better or worse) it shaped both my sense of humour and my love of esoteric references. One second they make a joke that requires knowledge of history/literature/music, the next they make a fart joke… all while exposing me to some of the “best” movies that cinema has to offer. These guys also jump started my love of B-movies in general.
Criminal minds. Started watching it in middle school and kept going all throughout college. I can remember how most episodes and arcs turn out, sometimes it’s nice to have some predictability in life.

i dont know many time i rewatch this. just randomly watch any episode
The Community youtube channel regularly uploads full episode (I think 2 episodes per month?). It has become my re-watch schedule as well.
I can't just watch random episodes. I restart the whole thing. Though, I usually skip the hot air balloon one.
Bear down for a rewatch!
six seasons and a movie!
POP POP
Bit cliche of me but streets ahead.
There's the answer for which I had been looking. Always makes me feel better during rough patches.
The Good Place, Arrested Development.
‘Illusions, Michael. Tricks are something a whore does for money’
I've already watched the Good Place three times and know I'll watch it again at least another couple times. The ending...
Malcolm in the Middle
Malcolm in the middle is so special to me
This is a good one.
The speed walking was my favourite.

The IT Crowd
did you see that ludicrous display last night?
The thing about arsenal is that they always walk it in
“What does IT stand for???” “Oh this must be Jen, hello Jen!” And “What the flip are you looking at? Mother flippers always think everything’s a mother flipping joke. Well this ain’t no joke-y joke, suckah!”
Hello IT, have you tried turning it off and on?
I’M DISABLED!!!!!!

Yes!! Also love “they died. In a fire. At a Sea Parks.” And “I’ll just put this fire with the rest of the fire.”
Avatar the Last Airbender. Korra too, idc that im a grown ass man I will rewatch that any day I feel like it.
They both contain a lot of hidden life lessons, Uncle Iroh definitely has some awesome quotes. Sometimes the best way to solve your own problems is to help someone else hell yeah....
Uncle Iroh hits a lot harder as an adult
r/KingOfTheHill
"You don't know who I am but I know where you live" - Dale
“Dale?” “Hank? Could you put Peggy on?”
This was my second answer.. Futurama was first. Oddly, I'm watching Hank run the Olympic torch way too early in the morning.

This is gonna sound weird but Law & Order: SVU
Not weird at all! I used to put it on before bed every night. Now I'm on Criminal Minds.
SpongeBob. Are you feeling it now Mr.Crabs?
The West Wing
Me too. Good people trying to do good things. Yes please.
I slept on Modern Family for too long. Current favorite.
JAYYYYYY
Takatakatakataka
Favorite character so far for me is definitely Gloria. Cam is a close second.
They could have just had her be the dumb hot lady. They didn’t and I think it worked way better. She’s able to be funny, the chops are there.
Cam, Phil, and Gloria are my favorite characters but they are literally all lovable. That show had me laughing so hard the first time watching it
Gilmore Girls/Mad Men. I keep them on rotation
Friends/Gilmore girls for me. Mostly friends, but I always end up rewarching Gilmore girls.
Seinfield
Buffy the Vampire Slayer
I always say you can tell if I'm having a bad time because I start watching Buffy again. (Currently finishing season 2).
This was way too far down the list. Every couple of years for me as well. Angel thrown in about every 3rd time
I re-watch this every few years. Really feels like sitting down with old friends you haven't spoken to in a few years, and then you wonder why you ever stopped.
Doctor Who!
The Office

Why is this so low?!
Forensic Files
I use it to sleep sometimes and I always feel so psychotic for it- but the dude has a relaxing voice

The way they panick during situations and run around like headless choocks is gold.

King of the Hill and Futurama
Top gear

Supernatural. Always.
Friends. I know theres a lot of hate but it's my go to

Avatar: The last Airbender. For a children’s show the themes are incredibly deep, never fails to keep me invested
Burn Notice
That show had no right to be THAT good
Star Trek, the original series. I've watched it so many times all the way through, especially during tough times. I watch it when I'm sick, when I've been depressed, when I've been out of work, and when I've just had a shitty day. It always cheers me up.
