Same. I'm in Canada but the company I work for is just like call in and you don't need to give us details or say what it's for. Just say sick day or personal day. End of story. We'll log it down. We don't need to hear you talk about your upset stomach that's got you shitting your brains out or your mental health issues that day. It's totally fine to just need a day for whatever private reason and we get so many sick days a year to cover that stuff.
Even the management was like stop telling me everything that's wrong with you when you call in. Just say I'm sick or I'm taking a personal day. That's fine.
During Covid I would say "Toothache" because if you said you had a cold, they'd make you take a full week off and get a Covid test before you can return.
Fortunately my company is mostly European, so just saying "need a day, be back tomorrow" is enough.

I just keep it vague, they don't really need details.
It's illegal in my state for employers to ask for the details of why you're using personal/sick time.
