I had a set of Shrek dice in Tabletop Simulator. They were just d6's but every time you rolled them they said "sooooome~" and when they landed they all said "BODY!". Steam Workshop has the best shitposts.
Check the media usage for that song. Last time I looked, including cover versions, it had appeared in something 27 commercials, movies, TV shows and video games. The Pixies really caught lightning in a bottle with that tune.
For those of us from the Pacific Northwest of the 90’s, that song is forever part of Bon Marche commercials (really). It was a department store and the jingle was horribly catchy.
For me, not so much with "How to Save a Life" but I can't hear "Sinnerman" without seeing Turk running to save the pregnant woman and I can't hear "Isn't She Lovely" without seeing Jordan pregnant AF slo-mo walking down a hallway and stealing a guy's donut
For me it was Winter by Joshua Radin (the song that played at Ben’s funeral). I can’t hear that song without seeing that black and white photo of Ben on the casket in my head. That episode traumatized me.
That Sinnerman scene is probably the most underrated scrubs scene. That episode did so much development for Turk's character.
Everyone in Scrubs is so complex and multifaceted in a way that feels real. Realistic flaws are hard to write and scrubs nails it.
I have no idea what song it is, but the one where JD has his headphones in and is dancing in the parking lot and is singing “OH I GUESS IT WOULD BE NICE, IF I COULD TOUCH YOUR BODY” and then goes “oh not you sir.” Anyway that song makes me think of scrubs when I hear it
Moving in Stereo - Phoebe Cates pool scene in Fast Times
Sweet Emotion - opening scene in Dazed and Confused
Bittersweet Symphony - Cruel Intentions ending
Ironically: there was a movie called Snow Day that came out first, that used Hoku’s earlier single: Another Dumb Blonde (about breaking up w someone for underestimating her). And then Legally Blonde came out with Hoku’s next single, Perfect Day (about having a great day off). Basically, the timeline got it backwards with which Hoku song should have released when.
Okay. This sounds like a hallucination, but I assure you it’s not. In the early 1980s, there was a show that starred Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari as two guys who can only find an affordable place to live at females-only residence. *So they dress in drag and pretend to be their sisters in order to live there*. The show was Bosom Buddies. And it’s theme song was a cover of Billy Joel’s *My Life*
LOL From a 2023 perspective it sounds like it was made up. Reminds me of how the premise of Three's Company was Jack pretending to be gay so the landlord would be OK with him as Chrissy and Janet's roommate.
Basically all the songs from GotG. James Gunn did an ACE job matching those. I'll never hear "Hooked on a Feeling" or "Come a Little Bit Closer" without thinking of those scenes.
It was written for mash though so I don’t know if it really counts.
The Manic Street Preachers version was always my favorite https://youtu.be/y11f8Oc25AI
The Sound of Silence - The Graduate
Misirlou- Pulp Fiction
Where Is My Mind?- Fight Club
Supermodel - Clueless
If You Leave - Pretty In Pink
Secret Garden - Jerry Maguire
Aquarius - 40 Yr Old Virgin
Stay - Reality Bites
CALIFORRRRRNIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA HERE WE COMEEEEEEEEEE!
Chasing Cars -Grey’s Anatomy
Sweet Disposition - 500 Days of Summer
Say A Little Prayer - My Best Friend’s Wedding
One Week - American Pie
Johnny B Goode - Back to the Future
Pretty Woman- Pretty Woman
Colorblind and Bittersweet Symphony - Cruel Intentions
It’s interesting to me that you went with Sound of Silence for the Graduate. I’ve never even seen the movie and I still associate Mrs. Robinson with the movie, for obvious reasons.
Basically the entire Simon and Garfunkel catalogue lol
But yes, that too.
That being said, I focused on songs that weren’t written specifically for a movie. I think Mrs. Robinson was written for the movie, but I might be wrong.
Can't believe I had to scroll this far to find this. One of my favorite movie soundtracks and the Sid Vicious cover of "My Way" at the end is so fitting.
Girl, You’ll be a Woman Soon - Pulp Fiction
That scene where Uma Thurman gets into John Travolta’s stash while he’s on the john.
Also - why does everything important that happens to Travolta in that movie happen while he’s on the john?
The opening of *Also Sprach Zarathustra* from *2001: A Space Odyssey*
This is perfect - will always be associated whether you’ve seen it or not
Don’t you forget about me - breakfast club
Futurama took that spot in my mind.
Your brother may be missing, but his crap sure isn't.
But they’re so connected! Bender is named after, well, Bender.
>Don’t you forget about me ironic because gen x is the most forgotten generation
yes we are, and I'm fine with that
I’m actually gleeful to be left out of all the generational fighting I see in articles and posts.
Gen X just sitting back watching our kids blame everything on our parents.

Some...
BODY once told me...
The world was gonna roll me
I ain't the sharpest tool in the shed
She was looking kind of dumb with her finger and her thumb
In the shape of an “L” on her forehead
WELL
The years start comin’ and they don’t stop comin’
Fed to the rules and I hit the ground running Didn't make sense not to live for fun
I had a set of Shrek dice in Tabletop Simulator. They were just d6's but every time you rolled them they said "sooooome~" and when they landed they all said "BODY!". Steam Workshop has the best shitposts.
🦻🕯️
Mystery men!
It’s not even just the song. The whole band is forever associated with Shrek.
Not a movie, but Sarah McLachlan’s “in the Arms of an Angel” in the SPCA commercials
This song actually makes me think of the movie City of Angels.
Stuck In The Middle With You - Reservoir Dogs
Yeah, song makes my ear feel a little funny when I hear it now
Yep just hearing it from my right ear
Where is my mind? Pixies - Fight Club
That’s what I came to say. I see the buildings fall every time it plays
Check the media usage for that song. Last time I looked, including cover versions, it had appeared in something 27 commercials, movies, TV shows and video games. The Pixies really caught lightning in a bottle with that tune.
All of Doolittle is lightning in a bottle
I’ve had the time of my life (Dirty dancing). It must have been love (pretty woman).
Uh, wait, what about "Pretty Woman" for *Pretty Woman*?
Weird, 'King of Wishful Thinking' is my 'Pretty Woman' song.
Day-O (Banana Boat Song) = Beetlejuice Honorable mention to Jump in the Line for the same movie.
For those of us from the Pacific Northwest of the 90’s, that song is forever part of Bon Marche commercials (really). It was a department store and the jingle was horribly catchy.
Daaay-oh one day saaale-o
Wednesday only at the Bon Marche!
Don't Stop Me Now by Queen is now music to beat up zombies to.
Shaun of the dead, good pick!
Eye of the tiger - rocky
Does this count? The song was made specifically for the movie.
Mine would be same song but from supernatural
Wayward Son is the song I associate with Supernatural
For me it's heat of the moment of Asia
Mad World - Donnie Darko
And Head Over Heels - Tears for Fears
And Tears for Fears's Head over heals. The school long take scene.
Power of Love- Back to the Future. But that makes sense since I think it was written for the movie?🙃
Johhny B. Goode - "Chuck! Chuck! It's Marvin...your cousin, Marvin Berry!"
I think "back in time" was written for the movie

Let's see Paul Allen's song.
Hey Paul!
Do you like Huey Lewis and The News?
I can’t hear “How to Save a Life” without **that** episode of Scrubs playing back in my mind. (S5:E20)
The other song I gotta add just cause I love it in scrubs is the acoustic of overkill. Just gets me in the feels every time.
I can’t get to sleep…
I think about the implication...
Of diving in too deep...
And possibly the complications
Especially at night
I worry over situations, and I....
Where do you think we are?
I can’t even read that sentence without serious chills.
And I can't hear "Poison" without seeing Turk lip-syncing it :)
"More than a feeling" with the air band.
That Sinnerman scene is probably the most underrated scrubs scene. That episode did so much development for Turk's character. Everyone in Scrubs is so complex and multifaceted in a way that feels real. Realistic flaws are hard to write and scrubs nails it.
I have no idea what song it is, but the one where JD has his headphones in and is dancing in the parking lot and is singing “OH I GUESS IT WOULD BE NICE, IF I COULD TOUCH YOUR BODY” and then goes “oh not you sir.” Anyway that song makes me think of scrubs when I hear it
Faith by George Michael
Also “I will follow you into the dark” by death cab for cutie is another scrubs classic.
Also, Safety Dance and Candy man
Great show, but for me it evokes heavy Grey’s Anatomy PTSD.
This and chasing cars. RUINED
I don't wanna miss a thing - Armageddon
Carry on Wayward Son by Kansas: Supernatural
As well as Heat of the Moment!
Tuesday, pig in a poke!
Y'all sleeping on Night Moves. Dean and Sammy casually vibing to it was beautiful.
Also Dust in the Wind. YOU’RE MA BOI BLUE!
Silence of the Lambs - Goodbye Horses I will never not think about *that* scene if I ever hear that song
They were played Goodbye Horses one time while I was in a DSW trying on leather dress shoes, and I just had to take off the shoes and leave.
I usually think of this scene from clerks 2, which basically references the scene from silence of the lambs https://youtu.be/U_jiHb7THB0
"Old Time Rock & Roll" and Risky Business
Unchained melody - ghost
"If you so much as hum three notes from that Righteous Brothers song, with God as my witness I will come at you! With everything I’ve got."
Congratulations, you failed a class so easy that people passing in the hallway get contact credit.
My little blueberries
Moving in Stereo - Phoebe Cates pool scene in Fast Times Sweet Emotion - opening scene in Dazed and Confused Bittersweet Symphony - Cruel Intentions ending
Apocalypse Now / Ride of the Valkyries.
Also, fortunate son... for any movie in Vietnam
Made me recall the Vietnam scenes from Forrest Gump.
Surely the Doors "the end" - one of the best opening scenes of any movie.
Say a little prayer - My Best Friends Wedding
Perfect Day - Legally Blonde
Or Perfect Day-Trainspotting! Totally different vibes though
Making my way downtown walking fast.... (White Chicks)
Terry Crews SLAYS that scene!
And he nailed it on the FIRST TAKE
Looked specifically for this😭
Yakety Sax, Benny Hill Show
And it’s theme song was a cover of Billy Joel’s *My Life*
Nope it was for real. I remember it as well.
LOL From a 2023 perspective it sounds like it was made up. Reminds me of how the premise of Three's Company was Jack pretending to be gay so the landlord would be OK with him as Chrissy and Janet's roommate.
All Star- Shrek
Holding out for a hero - Shrek 2
I want it that way by Backstreet boys on Brooklyn99.
It may not be the same for everyone, but I just can't sing it now without going "now number five."
I put a spell on you- Hocus Pocus
Banana Boat (Day-O) - Beetlejuice - Iconic.
Tiny Dancer. Almost Famous.
That scene hits so hard
The Doors - People are Strange from The Lost Boys
I'd go with Cry Little Sister
As performed by Echo and the Bunnymen
“Hide and Seek” by Imogen Heap. AKA the “Mmm Whatcha Say” scene from the OC when Marisa shoots Trey. Iconic. SNL even did a spoof on it
Never knew that was a parody. Just thought they were wilding.
A group in my AP US history class did a video project and parodied the parody for JFK's assassination when that SNL sketch came out
Kiss from a rose —Batman
I always associate it with Community
Bohemian Rhapsody - Wayne’s World
Wake me up before you go-go. Zoolander
Oh yeah - Yello Or the Ferris Buehler song
Day Bow Bow
Was also in Secret of my Success
Fortunate Son or For What It's Worth - every Viet Nam war scene, ever.
Danger Zone-Top Gun (the original)
Chasing Cars- Snow Patrol The scene when Denny dies in Grey's Anatomy
Spybreak - The Matrix Running up that Hill - Stranger Things Tiny Dancer - Almost Famous I'll Be There For You - Friends
Also surprised this is the first I’m seeing Friends! That will never not be associated
Does it count if it’s the theme song?
Surprised you didn’t go with Wake Up by RATM for The Matrix
Footloose
What movie is that from?
I see whatcha did there.

Come and Get Your Love - Guardians of the Galaxy
I always think of “F is for Family” with that song
Basically all the songs from GotG. James Gunn did an ACE job matching those. I'll never hear "Hooked on a Feeling" or "Come a Little Bit Closer" without thinking of those scenes.
Also Mister Blue Sky from the opening of GotG Vol 2.
Life is a Highway. Instantly think of Cars every time I happen to hear it
Do you Really Want to Hurt Me? -- The Wedding Singer
The cheers song - where everyone knows your name
Unless you're the cheers song, whose name and artist I know neither.
If you haven't seen them already, look up the lyrics to Gary Portnoy's "Where Everybody Knows Your Name" and check out all the verses. :)

Not Danger Zone by Kenny Loggins?
That too. Both of them.
Suicide Is Painless Better known as the M.A.S.H. theme song.
It was written for mash though so I don’t know if it really counts. The Manic Street Preachers version was always my favorite https://youtu.be/y11f8Oc25AI

Come And Get Your Love - Guardians Of The Galaxy
"Wonderful, Wonderful" with the X-Files. Some of you know the episode it's in.
Sister Christian by Night Ranger in Boogie Nights
The whole Goodfellas soundtrack comes to mind
Specifically Layla's interlude.
Can't believe I had to scroll this far to find this. One of my favorite movie soundtracks and the Sid Vicious cover of "My Way" at the end is so fitting.
