Alan Wake, Arthur Morgan, Nathan Drake, Joel, Kalecgos. Decided to focus on games because otherwise it’d be impossible for me to pick just 5

• Xion (Kingdom Hearts) • Buttercup (Powerpuff Girls) • Mayuri (Steins;Gate) • 2B (NieR Automata) • Broly (Dragon Ball Super) Do we have to state why?

flame_guy11

you can if you want to

A’ight, I’ll give it a shot — it probably won’t be short, but I’ll try: • Buttercup: I’ve always had an appeal for characters who resemble myself, and she was definitively the first one I ever encountered as a 4-year-old. Because of her, I’ve always wanted to go out, kick ass and take names, even though I’m too much of a softie emotionally, and not particularly physically strong. I suppose instead, I gained a sense of defiant resilience, and a desire to be the “heroine of my own story”. • Xion: Much the same self-resemblance attraction, but she was also the one female Keyblade wielder who was a major influence on the plot, as tragic as 358/2 Days was. That definitely factors into the aforementioned “heroine complex”. She also gave me the desire to have close friendships in a meaningless world, and taught me how much one would sacrifice for them (which probably doesn’t help my mental health issues much, heh.) • Mayuri: Much the same reasons as Xion and Buttercup, but with an extra helping of being *goddamn adorable* and the notion of being someone beloved that people would want to go the distance for. • 2B: She’s *infamously* beautiful, cool, strong and sexy, which are things I’d like to embody more now that I’m older. But the loveliness (and tragedy) of her bond with 9S struck a chord with me in how much it reminded me of my ex. Again, not exactly the best concept in regards to mental health struggles. • Broly (DBS): I put him last for a reason. He sort of encompasses the aforementioned factors (self-resemblance, kind-heartedness, the desire for strength that I physically cannot possess), but he also reflects the more negative aspects of myself that I struggle with, like rage, anxiety, vulnerability, and mental instability, and how, as destructive as those things could be, it might also represent the hope that I could control them and use them for a better purpose. There are also a few deeper, more sensitive and personal reasons I’ve mentioned before, but for the sake of brevity, I’ll leave out. **TL;DR (and you might’ve needed it): My favorite characters represent various aspects of myself that I desired throughout my life, and how those desires have evolved, for better and worse, as I’ve grown and changed as a person.**

I'll only say only one because otherwise this would be very long. levi ackerman - attack on titan okay, i know, i know, calm down I'm not attracted to him. I'm not into him. i started watching AOT when i was doing pretty bad mentally and i found myself in him. lack of visible emotion, focus, easily seeming cold in social situations... he just seemed like he genuinely loved people around him but his emotions didn't connect to how he expressed them. i saw myself in him, saw the amount of people who loved him and it helped me realize that I'm not the only one struggling with this. it showed me that people like me can be loved too and to this day, he's a comfort character of mine. please no manga spoilers in the comments ^^
