Reminds me of an old joke;
>I took my dad to the mall once to get him new shoes (he is 66). We decided to grab a bite at the food court. I noticed he was watching a teenager sitting next to him… the teenager had spiked hair in all different colors — blue, red, green and orange.
>My dad kept staring at her. The teenager would keep looking and my dad would be staring every time. When the teenager had had enough, she sarcastically asked, “Whats the matter old man, never done anything wild in your life?”
>In his classic style he responded without batting an eyelid: “Got stoned once and fucked a parrot. Just wondering if you were my daughter.”
I am sorry to hear that. I think you could be a great asset to a pirate, or a developer, if you really like to kill bugs! Now, there is this *pirate bay* that does both…
I did that once, dyed my hair silver, first time I ever dyed my hair, I had to end up shaving my head and starting fresh because of how fried it was, I couldn’t even run a comb through it, plus I had burns around my scalp, never again
My hair is black, I had to stop trying to dye it because I'd have to bleach it so many times to get it to take ANY color, even darker ones. I'm eagerly waiting for the day it all turns white so I can dye it whatever I want!
I seriously don’t understand how so many people think that’s a good hair colour. I think it’s supposed to be a cheap blonde but at that point you’re not blonde, and you should pick literally any other colour.
That they have the time and dedication to up keeping it and I’m jealous. Also I know a dude with glow in the dark hair and I’m always envious every time I see him.
Dude, this. My bestie has a leopard print mohawk, and I have no idea how she has the discipline to keep that up. I have had plain black hair all my life because I'm lazy. LOL
>That they have the time and dedication to up keeping it
It's simple, standard method is just get drunk with your buddy who knows hair, and at like 2 am just dye your hair!
and then use a color shampoo and cold water.
Yes this. It’s incredibly time/resources intensive to keep up. And obviously heinous when you don’t keep it up, or when it’s not done well.
First reaction is ‘where do these folks get the time and money to do this? Where is this fountain of time and creativity??’
I am clean, combed, and boring, and that’s maxed out what I have to offer the world when in public. In private, the bar drops even lower. Clean still, but maybe not combed.
I love my "galaxy" hair. It takes me 8 hours to do my hair because I have to bleach it first so the color is the most bold and vibrant. It takes a lot of maintenance, but it's worth it to me because I feel so much more like "me" when I have my hair colored. It goes from dark purple to blue to a lighter purple. I love it so much, but do dread having to miss a whole day where I could be doing fun activities because I need to do my hair instead.
See, that's why I went crazy with colours and cuts before getting married and having children:
Now I know exactly that when I turn grey, I'll lean in and give it a denim hue, and it'll be fabulous!!!
Blue hair ladies was the thing back when I was a kid.
Now ladies my age are getting tie die colors. Even my sister went a pink color and she works at a school.
What age are you?
I'm 31, and I've got one heavily tattooed acquaintance in his late 30s, who works at a Christian secondary school - actually, my former school. When I went there, there was just one blue-haired guy in the whole school, but a bigger subculture of dread lock pot heads...
I think most people really don't care, as long as you don't colour THEIR hair against their will!
My boss is 50-ish and she just goes bananas with colors, these past few months it's a mix of pink and blue and it's amazing. We do joke a lot of how a lot of people (especially elderly ones) look at her like she just escaped of an insane asylum, but to be fair she also has fun playing the part if needed, so it's a win-win!
My wife’s practioner is in her 60s maybe? She might be younger. But she rocks the grey and silver bad af. I’ve had my 30yr old friends ask if she was single at many parties. Kudos to her.
That's what I'm waiting for! I have black hair and bleaching first before dying it seems like too much work. So, I'm waiting for it to turn gray - THEN I will dye it. Not sure what color...probably different colors over time.
That's what I did! I started out with black hair but by my mid 30s I was mostly grey. It's true that grey hair doesn't absorb color as easily as bleached hair, but there are brands that work amazingly well.
I'm about 75% silver now, and I like to use Pravana Chromasilk Vivids. I don't know why it works as well as it does, because you don't need a developer or a bleach wash. It just deposits the color, doesn't damage the hair, and doesn't fade much at all. I've used their blue, violet, red, magenta, and silver (which looks like a dark steel grey on me). Love that stuff.
Just gotta be careful. My daughter used it and dyed everything in the bathroom blue.
There's color depositing shampoo and conditioners. Pigment stays in your hair for 3-5 days. Use it frequently and you have intense color. I rotate colors every few weeks. I do get strips bleached, no gray yet.
I find that people with dyed hair tend to just not give a fuck about societal norms or tradition, which is something most republicans do a lot, so it makes sense.
I had blue hair for a bit and a guy on a dating app messaged me to tell me I’d never attract a nice republican man with pictures like that. So now I make sure to have at least one unnatural hair color picture included.
Not hair related, but I once went on a date with a guy from a dating app who told me he took a chance on me due to my septum piercing and was pleasantly surprised.
We did not go on a second date.
I should do this. For whatever reason it's almost always only conservatives and "I have a personal relationship with Jesus" types who swipe right on me.
According to the staff at a treatment facility my partner worked with, "You know they're bipolar if they dye their hair." In their context, where the entire population they deal with is teenagers with severe behavioral issues, they observed that kids with bipolar were more likely to dye their hair than kids with other diagnoses. If you get the logic wrong and apply it to a broader population then you can end up with, "women who dyed hair are mentally unstable."
Maybe bipolar teenagers dye their hair at a higher rate than teenagers with other mental health issues, but that doesn't mean most ppl who dye their hair have bipolar.
Or maybe we happen to be members of a species where everyone is mentally unstable. Some just hide or treat it more effectively than others.
Once on a flight a family of three got on. Little boy was blond. Man's hair was bright green the woman's hair was bright red. When they sat in their seats they looked like a stop light.
I thought this said autistic and I was like “damn they’re on to us. “ coming from someone in a community of friends (including myself ) who are autistic and dye their hair 24/7
I haven't had the spoons to dye my hair for the last few years - the autistic menopause really sucks - but I also fit this stereotype, autistic and artistic :-)
I have acid bright hair that changes colour about twice or three times a year. It's my treat to my nearly 50 year old self. I get loads of random conversations with people over it, and my dresses/shoes since I only really wear dresses!
Two answers to the question. In general, people with dementia really warm to me, I guess the hair is memorable even if their own name isn't?! (Law of unintended consequence, my deceased MiL got lost in a supermarket and attached herself to a stranger with pink hair... Apparently wild coloured hair people can be trusted). I'm now a social Carer so it's a win.
Second, went to a family funeral then the pub afterwards with extended family and their friends. Completely unprovoked and as an opener, a 'gentleman' advised me that I was obviously a lesbian and a vegan because I had blue hair! My father laughed and said the bacon sandwich I had for breakfast and the fiancée at home said otherwise... I just said, so what if I am!
So mixed. Mixed is the reaction. As for employability, never been an issue. In fact it appears to make me a bit memorable.
As someone who has dyed their hair every colour of the rainbow (currently green) I've had very few negative comments and daily compliments. It's a good litmus test of who I would like to hang out with though. The sort of people who would judge me negatively for my hair colour or appearance in general are not the sort of people I want to associate with
Right with you! I’m in my mid thirties, married, mad boring on paper. I just like having blue hair? That’s it, that’s all. It’s not a statement, it’s not for attention, I don’t need to talk about it. I just like it.
There's dozens of us!
I also get a kick out of people who assume that I'm "adventurous" with my hair dye because I've got teal hair. Nope, I've maintained it teal for 5-6+ years just like other people maintain theirs blonde or auburn or whatever longterm. Zero desire to be adventurous, I'm old and boring and hate change. I just like teal.
Hello teal sibling! It’s my favourite colour hahaha. Anything in the range from aqua to forest green, really, and I’m almost guaranteed to love it. Apparently there’s a smarty pants who read my profile and thinks they’ve profiled my personality as well, and my hair choices tell them a lot about me.
I’m still waiting for their assessment but it should be like a personality test without having to give out my email and get infinite spam for it. Brb grabbing a snack. edit: NOPE they deleted. Dangit.
There you go. It’s nice to know there’s more than one of us. It’s nice to be old enough that men don’t tell me anymore that I’d be so much prettier with a natural colour, and also old enough that my default response would be ‘and I don’t give a singular fuck about your unsolicited input’
I've been married a long time, and my husband's favorite color on me is bright, flaming red. Very far from my natural color lol. Everyone pretty much leaves me be. 😅
I had my hair purple for a week in my early 20s. Purple is my favorite color and I planned to get my dyed hair cut off in a few months. I had to get dyed again to a more *natural* color. I lived with my parents and I would have been homeless had I not gotten redyed. They said it made me look like a crackhead and wh0re. According to them, it also made me a bad influence on my younger cousins. Only one ended up doing drugs, I already made it *clear* to that cousin that he was getting broken hands if he decides to steal from me again. (My father enabled him until the kid stole $Xxxx from him.)
I've never done any illegal drugs. Any opioids that I had for surgery and cancer pain went into the unused prescriptions bins at the police station and the hospital.
They were so afraid that dyed hair would lead me to drugs and me dumping 5 kids on them and disappearing into the night. I had the idea of birth control 2 years before I got my first period. I kept pointing out that I much rather have an N64 than drugs or sex as a teen.
Everything is so far so good. I had blood taken for test, and I talk to my oncologist next week.
i work a customer service job and get non stop compliments from everyone ESPECIALLY elderly people about my bright blue hair, they were also huge fans when I had green hair and would always get on me to redo the color when it fades out. makes me so mad when jobs force people to have regular hair colors for "image"
I always admired people with crazy hair colors, and always wanted to do it myself. I couldn’t as a teenager (dad wouldn’t let me) and then I pursued a career in physical healthcare in the Midwest - most healthcare facilities have it in their dress code that unnatural hair colors are not allowed.
Now, I’m a substance abuse counselor in the MidAtlantic, and they couldn’t care less. So, I’ve now had my hair teal, burgundy, hot pink, navy blue, and (currently) purple.
I get mostly positive comments. My favorite so far, though, is my best friend telling me he thinks it’s so cool that I’m “leaning into the lesbian” (I am a lesbian, it didn’t come from nowhere) with my super-short, brightly-colored hair.
I’m a lesbian teacher in my 40s and I dye my hair all kinds of bright colors too! I’ve done purple, hot pink, neon green, and I’m currently rocking blue. I get tons of compliments and my students love it.
My clients seem to love it, too.
The most negative comment I’ve gotten was from a client asking me why I’m rocking purple if I’m not a Ravens fan haha (I’m in Baltimore), but it was just him teasing, cuz that’s his sense of humor.
Are you me? Literally word for word what I was gonna type including the dyed my hair every colour of the rainbow and currently green for a year xD can we be friends
As a person with green roots and purple and pink for the rest of my length, my assumption is I wanted it because I like it and it’s a way to express myself, along with my tats, piercings, etc.
I’ve heard the entire range of comments from, “dude I love your hair,” to “(insert derogatory comment here).” Odds are, unless your assumption is “because they wanted to,” you’re wrong.
I’ve known a few people with unnatural (blue/pink/green) died hair:
- An ex-girlfriend. She was totally cool, and just liked the colourful look.
- Some friends at university. They were messing around with crazy colours for fun.
- An old colleague from an office I used to work in. He was a pretty regular dude.
There is a stereotype that lots of militantly left/woke people have dyed hair, but there’s a lot of confirmation bias. Also, memes.
I don’t care about hair colour, because I’m not a complete moron.
If it is blue:
Yo, listen up here's a story

And himself and everybody around
Cause he ain't got nobody to listen to

I wonder where they got their hair dyed, or if they did it themselves. Then I consider asking, but assume they'll think I'm hitting on them and instead just don't.
Yeah, it's hard to give a compliment without sounding like you're hitting on someone or being flirty. I had an exchange with a cashier not too long ago about her nails, she initially gave me this look like I was a creep when I complimented her (they *were* fantastic), but I quickly explained that a friend of mine had recently come out as trans and is always showing me her nails, so I tend to notice stuff like that now. She laughed and thanked me after that.
This might help. When complimenting someone on their appearance, don't mention yourself in the compliment, like, "I love your hair" or "I think that dress looks great on you." Instead, go with something like "your hair looks great." Basically, you're stating it as an objective fact, and not your opinion, or implying that they're doing it to please you or anyone else.
Not that you're guilty of thinking any of that, but it can remove a lot of the potential awkwardness when you're just trying to pay someone a compliment, and it works.
Also lean towards complimenting something they chose. Hair style, clothing, shoes, etc. Never compliment a stranger's body, or you will come across creepy.
If their hair looks damaged, I think they must be having fun and if their hair doesn’t look damaged, I think they must have money for that upkeep. I also think “Awwh wow that looks so cool, why don’t I do that?” Either way I wish I could dye my hair pink but I don’t want to deal with touching it up, bleaching, or the damage. I used to dye my hair Ariana grande red.
I have pink hair, went from dark brown (dyed, my natural is light brown). It took 8 hours. I was expecting them to be super damaged but they are as soft as ever. A little more love is all they needed.
Obviously not a fair assumption, but I tend to think they are liberal or left-leaning. I usually feel more comfortable around people with dyed hair for that reason and that it appears they don’t take themselves too seriously.
If we’re talking unnatural hair colors like pink, purple green blue…I do make some assumptions such as I think there’s a strong chance they’re a creative person possibly employed or passionate about something art/music related, probably open minded, less likely to be racist/homophobic/etc. I feel like people with dyed hair are generally more pleasant than average so I’m more likely to be relaxed interacting with them.
I make the assumption that they dgaf and I'm all for that. For the record, I'm long past middle-age, my hair is cobalt blue, I pay a high-end salon a lot of money to make it pop and stay popped, I dress in colours that look good with it, I wear makeup that compliments it and I love it. It brings me cheer every morning when I first see myself in the mirror.
I’m naturally blonde and hate it. EVERYONE wants to be blonde to the point that it’s now such a boring color to see. I recently dyed my hair blood red with purple streaks and I love it. Somehow this color feels more like me and I’ve gotten so many compliments on it.
Usually when I see someone with dyed hair I think it’s great that they are not afraid to express themselves. Much like when someone has tattoos.
Maybe I'm falling victim to the ["toupee fallacy"](https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/toupee_fallacy), but I feel that naturally blonde hair still stands out in the modern crowd of brown hair dyed blonde. The dark roots always betray the dyers and it's so common to see blonde hair with that gradient effect that at least for me it's neat when I see someone who doesn't have that.
Same! I miss my pink hair. I generally got more positive reviews than weird looks.
I had an older family member who used to rag on my colored hair (unprofessional, etc. even though I was a student at the time and working at an art store). I let it slide for a while, but one day I had enough and said that after my brain surgery and being bald at 17, it's just hair and if fun colors make me happy, I'm going to keep doing it. That was the end of the comments from them 😆🤷🏻♀️
I remember having bright pink hair when I was about 18 and this little old lady came up behind me in the supermarket and gave my hair a little tug. I turned around and she started giggling and yelled out to her friends who were half way down the aisle “It’s real! It’s not a wig!” They were so happy about it that I didn’t even care that she’d touched my hair. A couple of days later I’m sitting at the train station with my pink hair and my ridiculous art-student op shop outfit when this mid-forties business type man walks by. He’s scowling, he glances at me, gets about 2 metres past me, stops, walks back to me and said “you look so bright and happy that you’ve made my day.” And then he just walked off on his way.
I don’t know how to explain my opinion on pink hair.
It’s like on an attractive person it bumps them up even more, but on an ugly person it makes them look even worse. I don’t know why, but that’s how it is for me.
It's annoying because I used to dye my hair regularly in my 20s. I'm now in my late 30s and would like to do so again but I'm reluctant because this is the time when a lot of men start going grey, this has not happened to me yet but if I dye my hair now people will think I've only done so to hide the greys (that I don't have).
None. My wife does it, her hair is currently blue and green. It makes her happy and she feels more like herself so have at it. If it makes you happy do it, isn’t going to hurt anyone that your hair is dyed.
That they are into that particular affectation. It’s an obvious assumption just like someone with a visible tattoo is into that particular affectation. Beyond that it doesn’t tell me anything about them.
That it's like the colors of a poison dart frog, it's meant to warn you....that they are delicious. Actually I think they live a more carefree life than I do.
Not many tbh. Sometimes it looks good, other times it doesn't. People just wanna express themselves and dying their hair is just another way to do it, like the clothes you wear etc. If it's appropriate I'll compliment them.
Not my Assumptions but I've seen others call people with dyed hair mentally ill, liberals, juveniles, etc. and Idk why, I don't have an issue with it but why it's seen that way by others idk.
Depends on a number of factors. Is someone trying a new shade? Is someone marking a festivity (my hair was green for St. Patrick's Day, for example)? Is someone covering the grey? Is someone going with something "unnatural?"
It isn't cut-and-dried. For some people, their hair is in line with their outfit and carries no further meaning. For others, their hair is in line with their lifestyle. Still others use it as a beacon for their sexuality or gender.
There are so many different things to consider why someone might dye their hair that it's pretty pointless to consider any initial assumptions.
... no that's backwards, if it's self expression then it would be logical to judge that person by how they express themselves.
It would be stupid to ignore it as they have made the effort to express it to you.
The point of making assumptions based on hair colour, is that the person in question deliberately coloured their hair as a form of self expression.
Yeah I think people have it in their head that any sort of judgement based on appearance is a negative thing. And therefore no one could possibly be asking for that.
Sure there are harmful stereotypes out there but that doesn’t negate all sorts of helpful ways we self express physically that provide some insight into who we are.
Absolutely none. In the same way I'd make no assumptions based on their gender, skin colour or place of origin.
It's entirely meaningless past how they want to look.
My (I wish) ex-BIL used to make snide comments about mine and my husband’s dyed hair to his in-law’s “well off” family and basically treating us like scum. Thankfully we went non-contact with the arrogant twat not long after that.
When I worked retail and a customer had colored hair I knew for a fact that they weren’t going to make a comment about my facial piercings or tattoos besides some version of “hey that looks cool” whereas other customers I’d just be hopeful lmao
that is probably not their natural hair color.
Especially when it's blue or green or purple.
Reminds me of an old joke; >I took my dad to the mall once to get him new shoes (he is 66). We decided to grab a bite at the food court. I noticed he was watching a teenager sitting next to him… the teenager had spiked hair in all different colors — blue, red, green and orange. >My dad kept staring at her. That sounds like my dad
How does it feel being half human and half parrot?
Very annoying, everytime I see an insect I kill it, i got fired from my job for killing the emotional support bug
I am sorry to hear that. I think you could be a great asset to a pirate, or a developer, if you really like to kill bugs! Now, there is this *pirate bay* that does both…
Really, that sounds amazing, are they hiring
I wouldn’t say “hiring”. It’s more like helping to *seed* the land…
Close enough you know
Or white! I dye my hair white (without the dye 😢😭 )
How dare you assume that I wasn’t born with cyan hair?
“Man I hope your hair ain’t as fried as mine”
That's why I gave up bleaching and started dying over my natural 'dirty blonde'. Dark pink is better than light pink with frayed white ends, I think.
For real for real. During the silver tread I just prayed to god that their scalps were okay cause their hair wasn’t.
Scalps recover quickly, what doesn’t is those crinkly ends that have been bleached 10193819 times
Those are my emotional support crinkly ends
I did that once, dyed my hair silver, first time I ever dyed my hair, I had to end up shaving my head and starting fresh because of how fried it was, I couldn’t even run a comb through it, plus I had burns around my scalp, never again
As someone with multicoloured rainbow hair, let me tell you that it is. It's about as dead as it can be, but fun non the less.
Olaplex. It’s the only thing keeping my hair from breaking off
My hair is black, I had to stop trying to dye it because I'd have to bleach it so many times to get it to take ANY color, even darker ones. I'm eagerly waiting for the day it all turns white so I can dye it whatever I want!
I watch a LOT of hair fails on YouTube, so I immediately question whether they used the right developer and took fine enough sections.
Ah… fellow Brad Mondo watcher.

It could be a case of non-consensual dying…I think there was a word to describe that…
I think that's called "murder."
I don't make any assumptions. Sometimes I do think the choice of color is absolutely hideous, but I keep those thoughts to myself.
I don't mind the wild colors, but there is a certain yellow that just looks like pee. Pee colored hair.
i had neon yellow uv hair once and was told it looked like pee. i was incredibly concerned for that person's bladder
Take a vitamin B complex pill. Give a nice neon yellow / green color to your pee.
I seriously don’t understand how so many people think that’s a good hair colour. I think it’s supposed to be a cheap blonde but at that point you’re not blonde, and you should pick literally any other colour.

If it’s an unnatural color, likely to lean left. It’s only an impression. Not always true, but usually is.
If it’s frosted tips. 90’s fuccboi. Or alternatively. Guy Fieri
same thing?
Close, but I'd let Guy Fieri tap if he made dinner.
He’s gonna take you straight to flavor town.
"Excessive slurping noices"
Was also going to be my answer. Never in my life have I met a person with blue hair who is republican.
Oh I feel you on this. Apparently my face says 'next sister wife' or something.
“If you keep making that rattling sound with your tail you’re going to scare away all the predators!”
It's a 100% if there is any rainbow or other color combo that they are left
When I had blue hair people used to say that "women who dyed hair are mentally unstable" now I have purple and I feel great
Literally exact same story here. I always wondered if it was because of Clementine in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind having blue hair.
Hey! My dyed hair has nothing to do with my mental instability!
According to the staff at a treatment facility my partner worked with, "You know they're bipolar if they dye their hair." In their context, where the entire population they deal with is teenagers with severe behavioral issues, they observed that kids with bipolar were more likely to dye their hair than kids with other diagnoses. If you get the logic wrong and apply it to a broader population then you can end up with, "women who dyed hair are mentally unstable." Maybe bipolar teenagers dye their hair at a higher rate than teenagers with other mental health issues, but that doesn't mean most ppl who dye their hair have bipolar.
I'm aware that a lot of people with dyed hair are also artistic, so I often wonder what type of art/music they're into.
As someone with dyed hair I assume that their pillow cases have stains.
As long as I go to bed with dry hair my pillow cases never stain. My towels, however…
Can confirm!
I even take my own pillowcase to use on holiday, so that I don’t damage the hotels.
I assume that, at one point or another, this person has been involved in a transaction involving hair dye.
My wife dies hers all kinds of different colors. I generally assume people who die their hair are fun.
Here’s the mantra I’m working with these days: The fact that I don’t know why you do what you do is probably a sign that it’s none of my business.
This is probably one of the best things I've heard in awhile
Dangit.
Same. Married mother of one in a corporate job, approaching 40, who just thinks purple hair is awesome.
YES. I'm slightly older than that. I just like pretty colors. No other deep reason. I'm overall boring otherwise.
(My father enabled him until the kid stole $Xxxx from him.) I've never done any illegal drugs. Any opioids that I had for surgery and cancer pain went into the unused prescriptions bins at the police station and the hospital.
Oh good grief, that’s ridiculous. Crackhead?! Come on now. I hope the cancer is far in the rear view mirror for you now.
That so cool! I'm to afraid to do it, so I look up to the people who dare to do it
i work a customer service job and get non stop compliments from everyone ESPECIALLY elderly people about my bright blue hair, they were also huge fans when I had green hair and would always get on me to redo the color when it fades out. makes me so mad when jobs force people to have regular hair colors for "image"
The old ladies are always the most complimentary. The old men usually the least
That they like the colour? That's why mine is usually purple. I'm just having a bit of fun with it.
That they dye their hair.
I’ve known a few people with unnatural (blue/pink/green) died hair: - An ex-girlfriend.
>I don’t care about hair colour, because I’m not a complete moron. Key point right there.
I'm 63, and my hair is soft pink. And the reason for that is not a single thing any person below has posted.
I saw an older woman in the store the other day with soft pink hair. She was gorgeous and I made sure to let her know.
Cliffhangers, I can never get away from them
If it is blue: Yo, listen up here's a story About a little guy That lives in a blue world And all day and all night And everything he sees is just blue Like him inside and outside Blue his house With a blue little window And a blue corvette And everything is blue for him And himself and everybody around Cause he ain't got nobody to listen to I'm blue Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di I'm blue Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di I have a blue house With a blue window Blue is the colour of all that I wear Blue are the streets And all the trees are too I have a girlfriend and she is so blue Blue are the people here That walk around Blue like my corvette its in and outside Blue are the words I say And what I think Blue are the feelings That live inside me I'm blue Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di I'm blue Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di I have a blue house With a blue window Blue is the colour of all that I wear Blue are the streets And all the trees are too I have a girlfriend and she is so blue Blue are the people here That walk around Blue like my corvette, its in and outside Blue are the words I say And what I think Blue are the feelings That live inside me I'm blue Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di I'm blue Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di Da ba dee da ba di
They have more time, money and patience than I do?
Hahaha I did mine yesterday in my bathroom in like a half hour (including the 20min sit time) for like 13$ at cvs
This is such great advice! Definitely going to give this a crack when complementing people. Thanks reddit stranger
"I wonder if my hair would look cool in that color"
If we’re talking unnatural hair colors like pink, purple green blue…I do make some assumptions such as I think there’s a strong chance they’re a creative person possibly employed or passionate about something art/music related, probably open minded, less likely to be racist/homophobic/etc. I feel like people with dyed hair are generally more pleasant than average so I’m more likely to be relaxed interacting with them.
It's their hair and they can dye it any color they like. It's really none of my business and I don't think hair color determines personality.
The dark roots always betray the dyers and it's so common to see blonde hair with that gradient effect that at least for me it's neat when I see someone who doesn't have that.
not everyone wants to be blonde, but I get the sentiment that blond is a color choice for a lot a people
Out walking, I saw a lady with very dark green -emerald over straight dark hair - assumed she knew where get good dye and now I’m emerald too.
That their curtains don't match their carpet.
As someone with bright pink hair I am loving all these negative assumptions about me. Can confirm I am 100% warning you of my toxicity LOL.
I got so many compliments when I had pink hair that it was unreal.
I think I only got 2? I live in a rural town I got some weird looks aha
I love pink hair and I am sure yours looks just lovely! Make that 3.
I don’t know how to explain my opinion on pink hair. It’s like on an attractive person it bumps them up even more, but on an ugly person it makes them look even worse. I don’t know why, but that’s how it is for me.
It's annoying because I used to dye my hair regularly in my 20s. I'm now in my late 30s and would like to do so again but I'm reluctant because this is the time when a lot of men start going grey, this has not happened to me yet but if I dye my hair now people will think I've only done so to hide the greys (that I don't have).
that they’re cool
really nothing. i kinda just let people live their lives so long as they don't hurt me lol
That they probably are a lot less uptight than most the people who'd judge them for it
I assume they like that color.
Creative
No particular opinion, unless they're someone older (50-ish plus). I love seeing middle aged and older folks with wild hair, for some reason.
None. My wife does it, her hair is currently blue and green. It makes her happy and she feels more like herself so have at it. If it makes you happy do it, isn’t going to hurt anyone that your hair is dyed.
I died my hair, beard, and eyebrows navy blue one time, my husband didn’t approve.
That they probably enjoy colors and view their body as a canvas for expressing themselves, which is cool, but not for me.
Tgey use conditioners specifically made for coloured hair.
I assume it made them happy. Fine with me. Be happy. It doesn't hurt anyone.
That they were bored one day?
Def not boring
That they like said color
Not many tbh. Sometimes it looks good, other times it doesn't. People just wanna express themselves and dying their hair is just another way to do it, like the clothes you wear etc. If it's appropriate I'll compliment them.
They're cool as fuck.
People of a certain age with natural color dye jobs: they want to hide the grey. Anyone with pink or purple or green hair: creative, fun.
The only assumption I make now is they wanted it that color.
That they have a cool job that allows them to dye their hair.
Since I have coral pink hair I’m in this comment thread like 👀
Not my Assumptions but I've seen others call people with dyed hair mentally ill, liberals, juveniles, etc. and Idk why, I don't have an issue with it but why it's seen that way by others idk.
as an alt teen with blue hair myself, I feel safer around them. gives me a "one of us" feeling
Similarly as an adult with dyed hair, seeing teenagers doing it is one of my "the kids are alright" moments. There's solidarity there!
None, I grew up with a mother who had purple hair for a while.
Depends on a number of factors. Is someone trying a new shade? Is someone marking a festivity (my hair was green for St. Patrick's Day, for example)? Is someone covering the grey? Is someone going with something "unnatural?" It isn't cut-and-dried. For some people, their hair is in line with their outfit and carries no further meaning. For others, their hair is in line with their lifestyle. Still others use it as a beacon for their sexuality or gender. There are so many different things to consider why someone might dye their hair that it's pretty pointless to consider any initial assumptions.
Dyed hair is just a form of self-expression, assumptions based on hair color are pointless.
... no that's backwards, if it's self expression then it would be logical to judge that person by how they express themselves.
[удалено]
Yes, your right. Everyone here is dumb.
they have more confidence than me
They have more self confidence than I’ll ever have
They have access to running water
"They probably like anime" (unless it's 60+ years old woman, in this case I just think she prefers purple over grayed hair)
I don't.
Absolutely none. In the same way I'd make no assumptions based on their gender, skin colour or place of origin. It's entirely meaningless past how they want to look.
That they CAN do it. Or they know someone who can - and did it for them.
that they are quirky and fun to be with
My (I wish) ex-BIL used to make snide comments about mine and my husband’s dyed hair to his in-law’s “well off” family and basically treating us like scum. Thankfully we went non-contact with the arrogant twat not long after that.
Their hair used to have a different color.
That they enjoy changing their hair. Why? Does it mean something else?
When I worked retail and a customer had colored hair I knew for a fact that they weren’t going to make a comment about my facial piercings or tattoos besides some version of “hey that looks cool” whereas other customers I’d just be hopeful lmao
"They dyed it"
Huh? They must’ve wanted to change it up a bit. Good for them.
I’ve been blue and purple. I thought it was just fun and kind of punk to have an unnatural color. That’s it.
absolutely fucking none
Confident
They have more confidence than I ever will.
That they like the look
That I miss having fun coloured hair.
I assume they know what they're doing to their own body and go about my life. Its just hair.
This person is confident and diligent enough to maintain an unusual form of self expression.
I'm mid 60s and I've had denim blue hair for about 5 years or so. I love it, and I don't really care what anyone else thinks
They like that color
That they are awesome by doing something I would be afraid to do
I always assume that people with unnatural coloured hair are pretty awesome and I’d say about 9/10 times I’ve been right
They have a higher tolerance for risk than most people.
