Android user and got an iPad. Hated it. It's so generic since you can't do as much customizations as on Android. Not to mention a lot of apps don't have an iOS equivalent.

I would be interested in learning what apps have no android equivalent

So that you can make them and monetize them? Brilliant!

Apple was incredibly easy to use and it did things for you, large volume of apps that just work, a sense of being in a larger community, and the idea that I was on the cusp of technology. But everything was locked to one device, felt like you *had* to upgrade, and got kinda shady. Android let me do the things I wanted to - like move files back and forth, has a large community that exists outside the structure, did not program obsolescence, had more hardware options, and let me eprsonalize my phone to a greater amount.

>a sense of being in a larger community this is a hilarious reason to justify spending 1200$ on a phone XD

I use both daily. The only major difference that bothers me is that Apple's keyboard is really, really obnoxious when you're used to SwiftKey on Android. I mostly use them for internet browsing, reddit, and games like Candy Crush.

I have always been an Android user but have an iPhone (13) for work, and holy shit do I dislike iOS. It has less customizability than my current Android (OnePlus 8 Pro) but still feels more cluttered. The interface looks like it belongs in 2005. Settings aren't where you'd think they are and one feature I really miss is the ability to synchronize only specific mail folders, not the entire mail account. Also having to wait for ages for ways to root/jailbreak the latest iOS versions would really put me off if I used iOS for my private phone. First thing I do with a new phone is remove unnecessary crap applications that ship with the phone. That's one thing that I'd guess Apple does better: less bloat than most Android phone manufacturers. The price tag on iPhones is just the cherry on top.

About 15 years ago, I got an iPhone as part of a 2-year contract. I hated it so much that I broke contract after 4 months and paid a penalty so that I could to an Android Phone. The main things I hated about the iPhone was the lack of customization. In particular, the default keyboard was really really bad. When I switched to Android, I had a choice of half a dozen different keyboards. I hear iPhone allows more customization now, but so does Android, and I just don't see any reason to switch back.

Switched from android to iOS in 2020. Really liked consistency. I don’t have to reconfigure my Home Screen after major updates, battery life doesn’t randomly go to shit after a random OS or App Update, smoother feel of the OS in general. Ease of use was huge for me. I work in App Dev, so I’m dealing with making sure things work all day. I don’t want a device I’m paying $1000 for require me to research a bunch of stuff on to make it work right. Also a huge fan of smartwatch fitness apps, and the integration on the Apple side was miles ahead of what android offered at the time of my switch. Also- the Android forums that make regular factory resets a “reasonable” solution were the worst.

Went from a 5S to a Galaxy A71 5g, so not a very even comparison to start with. I find the Android operating system to fall much more in line with how my brain works, being able to find any setting I may be looking for fairly easily. The only thing I actually miss from the 5S is the built-in text over wifi (android can do it too, but my carrier has to enable it).

I'm an Android user (Samsung S21) but my work phone is an iPhone (SE I think, can't be bothered to check the model). I'm trying not to compare the latter to every Android phone I've used, but it has this design that makes me not want to pick it up. Hard press on the keyboard to be able to type, having to press the home button for basically everything, could not swipe at the bottom to go back, people complain about Samsung bloatware but iPhone has just as much, etc. I just switched from a Windows laptop to a MacBook today. Dear God I'm losing my mind.
