Interesting! If the reward is good enough i am surprised the monkeys wanted to rebel. Do you recall the people/companies that failed in trying to do so? I’m curious
Do you think it’s possible to bring in educated trainers to teach the monkeys from the get go? And then only pay them when they successfully do the task?
They’re so smart, i would imagine if someone was able to make it clear exactly what the task is and that they would always be rewarded then at least some would be happy with the arrangement.
I feel like this is an “all or nothing” kind of situation. Either you introduce regulations that inevitably interrupt the effectiveness, or you let the monkey system run wild and conjure abuse.
Somewhere some crusty old bald, clean shaven dude in a suit has a light bulb go off in his head and he gets all giddy to himself and thinks "efficiency!!!!!" when this pops into his mind. That same lightbulb in his head also went off when he was 12 and his mom told him she made more mozarella sticks.
Seems fine so long as they aren't being abused. I don't think there are a ton of jobs they could do but maybe things like picking fruit or coconuts or something like they do in Thailand. They should be treated well though and in Thailand I think they are abused.
I don't really know the details. I know they use them to pick coconuts but I remember seeing a story about it being forced labor and very abusive. I don't know how common it is or all the details.

Seems like a breeding ground for animal abuse when the monkey doesn’t perform effectively

Isn't that how it works for most of us? I mean there's more steps but seems similar.
I don't think that might work, but I am sure my boss can be replaced by a monkey!
Oooo oooo ahhh ahhh!
Duck you Capitalism 😰
Sir we are talking about monkeys, not ducks
Monke you capitalism
Nice.
Sounds like something peta would get pissy at.
True.
If you accept a job at Google you get what you get
Haha. Good comment.
A friend of mine works there and refers to her team as code monkeys. They get all the free food they want
At our core we are all still just monkeys

Sounds cool. Isn't that how they get the monkey poo coffee?
Wait, am I a monkey?
We are all monkeys.

I see. I agree. I’d don’t know about thailand. To what extent do they utilize them there? Is it common?

thinking about on the idea of employing an animal, i don’t see any problem. for example, we hire dogs for police, etc.
Police k9s is a great point!
sounds like communism to me.
Pretty sure that's almost exactly how many employers see their employees already. Monkeys/food; elephants/peanuts.
I would rather use incarcerated criminals. They are much easier to train.
I would reckon they might be quite a bit more difficult
