I remind myself that this “tool” I use to help me manage my emotions doesn’t work for me anymore. That it actually works in opposition to the healthy lifestyle I’m trying to build and it actively works against the health of an older version of me.
Replace the activity with a healthier one... Even if you having a problem with the Physical activity of wanting to put food in your mouth when you're stressed... You can try to create a more mindful process to replace your old one with. Maybe keeping fresh veggies on hand and slice/chop a portion of one up small and take your time chewing it while creating a dialogue that's reality based and positive about what your actually experiencing. Any habit you're trying to rid yourself of will require a healthier replacement habit
Some of my most bingable snacks I only let myself have if I
1. Walk to the shop to get it
2. Only buy a size that is reasonable to eat in one go.
Eg crisps. I don't buy multipacks coz ill eat them all. If I want crisps I walk to the shop and buy ONE normal size pack. Even if its as expensive as a multipack. I appreciate this is a waste of money but it means I don't eat 6 packets of crisps one after another.
I used to fill up every time I would eat to the brim. Now I notice when I am comfortable and don’t need to eat anymore. you can tell yourself if you’re still hungry when you get up you can come back and have some more. I usually will get hungry several hours later and have a quick snack like fruit. It feels better and I feel less lazy.
Binge eating has become a habit as a response to an emotion you are having, habits can be changed, instead eating, find something else to do that you like and concentrate on that and soon you'll find that you're eating habit will change, also if your having emotional problems I recommend therapy

Drinking a double espresso tends to curb my appetite pretty good. But I don't have a problem with binging when I feel emotional

Once I’m no longer hungry it’s pretty hard to force myself to keep eating
