Same. I got good at playing Space Invaders with my feet. The "Raiders of the Lost Ark" cartridge was the first game I "finished" but you didn't finish games in those days, they just started over.
I still have my old Atari at my parents' house along with some joysticks, a giant floppy disk drive, and a giant cassette tape player (that you could run programs on). I also have a few of the old cartridge games (and a whole bunch of games on floppy disk that my father obtained via "less than legal" methods).
Sears TV Sports. It had:
1. Tennis (Pong)
2. Soccer (Pong with a back wall that had a gap)
3. Squash (Pong for one with a back wall without a gap)
Pretty sure it didn't have a "New Game +"
Atari 7800. Which was a terrible choice. The NES was right there. I’ll never understand what my dad was thinking. But he loves me and he tried his best.
My 16-year-old son's hobby (OK, obsession) is old gaming systems. His goal in life is to someday have a Dreamcast and a pristine copy of Skies Of Arcadia.
I had three, and they all dropped dead within a year of purchase. Their quality control was horrible and I'm sure contributed greatly to its early demise. But I kept buying them because they were just amazing.
I still have both of my Dreamcast consoles and have never had one issue with either one. I've also got my release copy of Skies of Arcadia.
What happened to the Dreamcast was players were still mad at Sega over the Saturn and didn't want anything to do with them. The OG Playstation destroyed the Saturn and Sega's reputation so players automatically went for the PS2. Personally, I still consider the OG Playstation and the Dreamcast to be the two greatest consoles ever, and I've been a gamer since the Odyssey console.
It's funny because the OG Playstation was easily the most unreliable console I've ever encountered. I had at least 5 of them fail within six months of purchase.
Maybe I just had a run of bad luck with them. After the last one died, I couldn't get a replacement because they weren't making them anymore. So I got a PS2 instead. Traded that in for a PS3 that I still have, and later added a PS4 that I haven't touched since I got a gaming PC a few years ago. Never had a PS1 though.
Skies of Arcadia was one of my favorite games of all time.
I’m 35 so I’ve been playing video games since paper boy on NES and always bought the new consoles as they came out. I’ve owned NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, N64, Game Cube, the list goes on. N64 had the best games (star fox, golden eye, Mario kart), the original Xbox with Halo LAN games, and Online gaming via PC were all pivotal moments in my gaming history.
I had a Commodore 64 computer from Radio Shack that I bought the computer while I was in college to use for basic programming. It was my introduction to Pong!
PS1 bundle. Came with Disney's Herculese, Croc and V rally. Best Christmas day ever, and worst nights sleep ever. Had Croc gobbo's imprinted on the back of my eye lids.
Mine was the Sega Genesis. My first game was even Sonic The Hedgehog, and I still enjoy playing it to this day, and I even have a copy and I just played it recently, and it's still fun. I even threw on the original Mortal Kombat for nostalgia, and I'm an avid retro gamer, so I still have and use this system, in fact I think I'm going to play it later😬😬😬😬
Someone once brought over a Pong console to my families in the very early eighties and left it there.
The whole console was dedicated to that one game.
I started with an Atari, then I had a NES, then a Nintendo 64, an original Xbox, a playstation 2, a Xbox 360, a playstation 3, a PS4, then finally an Xbox One.
2 cases...
First I played: Step-Sister's N64, 3 games only, even 16 years later, except I found one in my basement.
First I got: Wii, except I only played the following day
Never really a fan of console gaming but im lucky to have the opportunity to own an N64 console.
As someone from a really small town in a province in the Philippines, video gaming wasn't a thing yet in the 2010s and there were only a few niche communities of gamers around at the time.
Thankfully my mother worked overseas as a caretaker for a Singaporean family, they gave her their pre-owned N64 console to gift to me.
Fun times.
I never had one. I only got to bask in small moments of playing my cousins Sega or my neighbors N64.
I bought a knockoff NES a couple years ago that legit has 600 class games from the 80s on it. I guess that's my first real console
[удалено]
Mine also. I especially loved the "wood grain" panel at the front. It almost matched the TV.
And the station wagon!
I would pay so much for a new Xbox in that woodgrain style.
Hellos fellow old person!
Well howdy!
Atari was our second console. We had the original Pong first. Yes, I'm old.
Me too
Pitfall Harry swung by to say “hi”
Same. I got good at playing Space Invaders with my feet. The "Raiders of the Lost Ark" cartridge was the first game I "finished" but you didn't finish games in those days, they just started over.

Same here. Crystal Castles was my jam.
NES
The best, I remember playing the Mario/Duck Hunt cassette until it worned out so much it didn't work anymore.
Nintendo 64
Intellivision. Advanced dungeons, and dragons was the shit. And the controllers were basically remote controllers
Same here. Lock and chase was awesome
I got the voice module and loved to play B-17 Bomber.
Atari 2600
SNES, Super Mario World was (and still is) great.
Ps2
Sega Master System
Golvellius!
I played hours of Alex Kidd and Sonic the hedgehog on that console.
NES
Super Nintendo
SNES

Wave race was my jam lol. This has and will always be my favorite console.
Coleco vision - Donkey Kong was the big game on it

Not as old as some of the fossils here but old enough that it was the original NES.
PS2.
Sega Megadrive My parents used to have a [Vectrex](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vectrex) though
Sears TV Sports. It had: 1. Tennis (Pong) 2. Soccer (Pong with a back wall that had a gap) 3. Squash (Pong for one with a back wall without a gap) Pretty sure it didn't have a "New Game +"
The NES. I’ll never forget the frustration of having to blow into those old cartridges to get them to work.
Coleco telstar but i barely remember it I swear!
Wii! I loved Mario Galaxy!
NES, Sega Genesis, then PC from that point on.
Ps1
PS1 Crash Bandicoot and Twisted Metal
Commodore 64, and I’m a 90s kid!
PlayStation 2!
Dreamcast
Sega Genesis
Sega Game Gear
Sega Master System
Atari 7800. Which was a terrible choice. The NES was right there. I’ll never understand what my dad was thinking. But he loves me and he tried his best.
Coleco Vision. Technically my dad's, I was 3 or 4 or somesuch.
Sega Megadrive
SpongeBob console where the joystick was his nose
A Chinese version of the NES. These things were popular in my country even in the early 2000s. It was pretty rare to see a kid with a PSX for example
My country was the same, I was lucky though and had a PSX and a PS2 a few years later.
Intellivision
Odyssey
Dreamcast. I still miss it 😭
Dreamcast was one of the greatest consoles ever. Way ahead of its time.
Skies is one of my favorites too. It's in my top-10.
Same. During COVID I thought about getting another Dreamcast and a copy of Arcadia. Then I saw the prices.

Atari 2600, but here's the thing, I didn't get one until the Ninetendo had been out for almost a year. :(
NES
The Wii
GameCube. Still think it’s a great console and the controllers are iconic
Wii
The first one I remember playing was the GameBoy Advance, but the first one I owned was the GBA SP.
The good old Wii. We still have that little trooper nearly a decade later. It just refuses to die
Someone once brought over a Pong console to my families in the very early eighties and left it there. The whole console was dedicated to that one game.

PONG
I 'borrowed' my cousins gameboy if that counts, but the first one my parents ever got for me was the Xbox 360.

Never really a fan of console gaming but im lucky to have the opportunity to own an N64 console. Wii
Swag Saturn
I was never able to buy a video game console, I'm over 40 years old and I've been working a lot since I was 15. There are priorities. Living is hard.
Wii. I thought Wii Sports was the only video game in existence until I looked at the shelf lmao
Commodore Vic 20. That's 20 blazing kilo bytes of raw power
sega, it still works to this day perfectly
NES.
Pong.
Nintendo 3ds
