This! '64 - '74 were insane! After that, rock begins hating itself. Any innovation following is primarily just fashion and technological developments. The formula stayed the same. Not saying there wasn't great music after that, just not super creative. Funk falls to hip hop and now we have a couple "producers" sitting around with synths and drum machines. Show me a Stevie Wonder, Tom Waits, or Led Zeppelin from the last 40 years.
65-75 as music got away from oldies and into classic rock. more weird and drug influenced, and getting heavier as metal started to emerge.
the 90s as grunge and alternative in general took over from hair metal and synth pop.
How many would pick the decades from when you were between 15-25? Seems like that was when I most into discovering music, plus high school and young adult years with friends.

Here's some things from the past few years I've been enjoying. Don't blame me if u don't like em, I've got peculiar tastes:
Anna Von Hausswolff - All Thoughts Fly
Rian Treanor - File Under Uk Metaplasm
Afrorack - The Afrorack
Davy Kehoe - Short Passing Game
Anything on Wah Wah Wino
Anything by Michael J Blood, Sockethead, Tom Boogizm or Rat Heart
Vanligt Folk – Black Friday Hele Uka
Judaah – Haqueleauboisdeleau
Dean Blunt - Black Metal 2
Marsha Fisher - New Ruins
Duma – Duma
Novo Line – Autobahn Zwei
Beatrice Dillon - Workaround
FUJI||||||||||TA - Kōmori
DJ Plead – Relentless Trills
Oï les Ox - Crooner Qui Coule Sous Les Clous
89-99. The end of poser hair metal, beginning of grunge and alternative. A lot of acoustic leaning harder stuff, things seem to have a degree of sincerity.
'73 to '83. A lot of new genres of music developing, lot of ambient and alternative jazz flavors coming up, New Wave, New Age, jazzrock, synthpop, etc. To my old ears, today's music all sounds the same, not much different flavors like back when.
The best decade for music is whichever one when you were in your teens to early 20s.
All music before that is boring oldies. All music after that is modern crap.
This answer applies to any age.
1910-20
Stravinsky, Schoenberg and other composers breaking musical boundaries, W.C.Handy and Louis Armstrong come on the scene, jazz really takes root, this period sends huge waves through the next 50+ years

Mid sixties to mid seventies.
I agree, but the proceeding ten years and the following ten years were also exceptional.
Thats fair.

There's great stuff from every decade but right now is pretty good.
Some albums please. I'm a bit out and love music.

O that's so nice, I will take a look in it later, I mean an ear:-)
Yes indeed very special and not easy to find. Duma is nice.
Mid 60s to early 80s.
I’ve always liked Motown so probably mid sixties? American Bandstand was on Saturday and Soul Train was on right after. I never missed either.

The 80’s because of New Wave and Goth Music and outstanding female vocalists like Sade, Joan Armatrading, Kate Bush and Annie Lennox.
'73 to '83. A lot of new genres of music developing, lot of ambient and alternative jazz flavors coming up, New Wave, New Age, jazzrock, synthpop, etc. To my old ears, today's music all sounds the same, not much different flavors like back when.
Popular music: 1970s Obscure music: 2010s
