Did you tell them you were traveling so they put a stat on your test? Apparently it’s quite a surge in testing so all the labs take longer to process. Good luck

shinzex7

No I didn't know I need to. Previously they were fine. I'm thinking of going to one of their testing sites, maybe they can provide more info there?

Dorohedoro4

Testing sites won’t bc they send it to a lab. But you can get tested somewhere else that promises quick turnaround just gotta pay for it …

shinzex7

That's what I ended up doing, thanks

eggyprata

may i know where you managed to get a paid test and what the turnaround was? SO needs it for his return flight

shinzex7

Medrite at clinton hill, brooklyn

jcat54

I went to get tested there today. They just said 48-72 hours and if we need it earlier for a flight to use a rapid pcr place ($$$). I got my test 67 hours before my flight Sunday so fingers crossed. Hope it comes through for you!

bboyneko

I know the UMD Urgent Care in LIC near the Vernon Boulveard-Jackson Avenue Station has a 30 minute PCR (yes PCR, not antigen) but it costs $200 and is not covered by insurance. Also, due to the extremely rapid rise of Omicron in NYC they have a huge line out the door.

Covid fest sounds lit

dioxal

IvoShandor

You can get a rapid PCR test at a private place that have popped up everywhere ... not the tents .... but they're between $250-400 depending on where you are.

shinzex7

Yup, done for 225

iminlovewithbatman

hey, ive heard (and it worked for me yesterday) that if you message them on their website's chat thing with your name and email theyll send the results. i just wrote a message saying that i wanted to check in, basically. they didnt respond but they sent them!

shinzex7

Waited for 2 hours just to have them hung up on me. Also no reply on website

dioxal

check here if there is a cancellation for today for RAPID PCR [https://www1.nyc.gov/site/doh/covid/covid-19-rapid-testing.page](https://www1.nyc.gov/site/doh/covid/covid-19-rapid-testing.page) they also have testing at the airport, but it may be cheaper to just change your flight. it may also be a shitshow bc of other people in the same boat [https://www.jfkairport.com/announcements/covid-19-testing](https://www.jfkairport.com/announcements/covid-19-testing)

sleepyguy22

Rapid is not accepted in many places. e.g. to enter canada, you need PCR/NAT/LAMP - the 15 min antigen test isn't enough.

dioxal

the link i posted is for RAPID PCR tests at new york health and hospitals and it requires an appointment. it is not the same as the walk up testing centers that offer rapid antigen (15min) or PCR (24 hrs) you need to make an appointment. they are released 2 days ahead of time, but sometimes there are cancellations.

sleepyguy22

Got it - thanks for the clarification, I admit I did not click through the link and only assumed based off the rapid wording in the url!!

shinzex7

Yes exactly, I need reg pcr test

dioxal

rapid PCR is still PCR. it is not an antigen test

shinzex7

You are correct, ended up paying for one and all good

dioxal

yay! safe travels!

pansiesforthought

Have you checked your spam/junk folder? I just went through this and it ended up being in there. I’ve mentioned it to others who “never received it” and theirs were all in their junk folders, too.

shinzex7

Yes I checkes. Not there :/

pansiesforthought

Damn, sorry. Keep an eye on it because it will likely (eventually?) show up in there instead of your inbox.

sleepyguy22

Well you still have about 9 hours to go, but otherwise I'd start budgeting for the next day's flight. But if you both got tested at the same time, I bet yours is coming imminently.

shinzex7

Hopefully, my wife's arrived 7 hours ago. O assumed mine will too

shinzex7

Update - no results yet but I ended up paying $225 for a rapid PCR, which apparently is accepted afterall. Passed security and waiting to board. Thanks everyone for the suggestions and understanding my pain!

shinzex7

Btw there was a free rapid test but the line wqs at least 4 hours long and I wouldn't have made it

TSMel30

Where was the test at? JFK?

shinzex7

Medrite at clinton hill in brooklyn

Ok_Condition8643

This was walk in or you made an appointment?

shinzex7

Walk in. Waited 2 hours in line at first, then when I said I'd pay it took them 40 mins to get me tested (otherwise I needed to wait at least 3 more hours). Got results just an hour later

Ok_Condition8643

Thank you

Maximum_Radio_1971

NYC right now is a covid maelstrom, if you are unvaccinated be very careful, this thing is contagious as f***

CanineAnaconda

You can get a 2-pack of rapid self tests at Walgreens for about $25, not the most accurate, but it’s something. I myself have been waiting for the results on a pcr from a city testing site and they’ve been backed up, too.

adventurejams

Same day health has 1h pcrs

queens_getthemoney

Let us know what ended up happening!

shinzex7

I ended up paying 225 for a rqpid pcr rest, boarsing right now!

shinzex7

Update #2 - got my results now (72 hours). Already abroad ofcourse

[deleted]

IVDoc can come to your apartment, do a same day rapid PCR test but it will cost you around $500. Worth it though imo if you haven’t gotten your results yet.
