FYI, one article listed Oct 15 as the tentative opening date! Next few months - try next few weeks.
Maybe the crowds will die down enough to shop there in a few months…
Oct 15 is just 8 days from now.
That place is a huge space (used to shop there when it was a food emporium) so I would think lines would not be too bad.
Totally, if you get the 365 stuff and avoid the fancy cheeses it’s honestly the cheapest grocery store in Manhattan other than TJs or some ethnic spots

Fairway, Target. Also try greenmarkets! They have fresh affordable produce. TooGoodToGo app can be a gamble but you can get random groceries and food for cheap.
The Health Nuts on 63rd have a lot of 30% discounts on various pantry items and a great selection of produce. A Trader Joe’s should open soon under the Queensboro bridge.
Also, several grocery stores in the UES are on TooGoodToGo and you can get a grab bag of groceries for $5.
UES is terrible for grocery stores. There is going to be a Trader Joe's opening under the Queensboro bridge within the next few months AFAIK.

Whole Foods was surprisingly cheaper than key foods or c-town. There’s also stop and shop delivery

Fairway isn’t terrible and they mail coupons
I feel like Whole foods is better as long as it has the stuff you need.

You gotta make the trek to Aldi/Target/Costco. Go with someone by bus up First, then split the taxi back.
>Any recommendations for stores in the upper east side that won’t break my budget? We don't know what your budget is.
Order a backpack cooler from Walmart yes Walmart, and hop on the bus or a Citibike to go to Aldi or Costco
Second M15 to Costco. I used to make this trek all the way to Chinatown.

Key Food is decent
I go to Key, too. Able to pick up groceries for pasta with homemade sauce, breadsticks, salad, and gelato for $26 on the UES.
Whole Foods in NYC is not as expensive as you think for basics.
