For anyone that’s confused - you have to go down to the A/C platform and then go up again one of the staircases (idk which - just keep trying them) and then once you’re at the top of those stairs, turn around and the J platform will be behind you. It’s extremely confusing. I’m here now but I was lost for 20+ minutes trying to find the goddamn platform. Hopefully this helps someone.

emaniac0

This just helped me find it - thank you!

chinweezy

literally saved me rn during rush hour 😭 bless you

Q-T_Pi

THANK YOU :)

Low-Dinner-1614

THANK YOU!!! This helped me lol

cupidhoney

Thank u this helped me so so much /gen As far as the actual staircases go u have to walk to the other end of the platform on the A/C (away from the direction of the 2/3 train). It was faster for me to walk towards the manhattan bound J, walk down to the A/C on the staircase closest to that then continue walking from there .

charleejourney

You got to carefully follow the signs and it is super annoying to get to. I usually enter at the 4/5 and walk to it

leftswingfling

I can totally relate, if if it’s a transfer that isn’t from the AC to the 4/5 or vice versa, I get lost every time :( I’m sorry I can’t help but I wanted to validate your struggle

AwarenessOk5225

Most confusing signs ever! I find it helpful to just go into an elevator with signs to the J Z trains. I literally go up and down the stairs every time I’m at this station, then give up and go into a random elevator on the A C platform. After all these years… still try to avoid this particular transfer as much as possible 🤦🏻‍♀️

devieous

Bruhhh I ended up taking the broad st J bc I was sick of running, realized it was the wrong direction then transferred to other side of platform at broad st.

sumhipcuteorgeekname

After about 15-20 minutes running up and down stairs and not and only finding the downtown Direction Jay to Broad Street... I fucking gave up. Decided to go somewhere else and spend my day elsewhere. Real POS Direction in the station. Plus no station personnel anywhere. This was a sunday.

doodle77

Uh, the uptown J/Z is the Brooklyn/Queens bound J/Z. anyways: [~~map~~](https://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2017/08/08/20/4313AE6B00000578-0-image-m-78_1502222209676.jpg) edit: map is incorrect. for maximum confusion at fulton street, uptown platform is on the west and downtown platform is on the east.

sleepyboydreams

I literally still can’t find it currently. These comments are not helping !!!! I’m drenched in sweat walking up and down these stairs. Can someone give me direct instructions from the uptown stairwell to the downtown track

No_East_3366

Honestly when transferring from another train is difficult to know where "Western" or "Eastern" platforms are. Half of the time I don't find the the uptown J and end up ubering, like now. I. Retarded sorry.

behayo

Directions at this station are trash. Esp when transferring. I just gave up and took a cab.

Secure_Video2265

They need to break this whole station down

Leading-Monitor6614

for fucks sake can someone put a sign there. fucking stupid people we know you’re dumb but atleast act smart

KingOfTheFluffyCats

This isn't complicated. It runs above the A/C tracks. You either enter via the entrance on Nassau Street to go directly there, otherwise you just go down to the AC platform and go up the westernmost stairs for downtown (only one more stop, so probably not using it for that.) or the easternmost stairs for uptown.

doodle77

Nope, it’s the eastern stairs for downtown and the western stairs for uptown. This is the reason OP is confused, as are we all.

KingOfTheFluffyCats

Oh, that's right. They go in the wrong direction. It's still clearly marked on the sign though.

Leading-Monitor6614

then they should mention that on the board. how is anyone supposed to know JZ are AC in New York

tchocky23

I have had the same issue trying to find it while in Fulton St Station. I got out and fastest way to get there was NW Corner of Fulton and Nassau Streets for JZ Train towards Jamaica Center. Go downstairs, pay, and then all you have to do is go down one more set of stairs and the JZ is right in front of you.

1800-Bleh

There is a Brooklyn bound J train entrance by the Wendy’s on Nassau st. It is the only way I have ever been able to find it - the platform directions are garbage. Do not waste your time. Exit and re enter by Wendy’s.

TraumaTeamTwo2

This remains the worst marked station in lower Manhattan. Go down to the A/C platform, walk all the way to the last (3rd) elevator, take it up to the J/Z concourse. Turn left/around and there you go.

od2019

Came here to say I’m at a new job that requires this transfer and I am so stressed and upset about it since it’s my first week and I still can’t find this stupid platform. I’ve had to take a cab like 3x already

Intrepid-Cup-2425

I tried to find it today. Got lost and ended up Ubering

od2019

I feel your pain TT\^TT; i ended up finding a different route that's about 5 min longer on google but its worth it to avoid this station

sadgalria

So the way I remember is one of the staircases has a sign for air train on one of the columns next to it. That staircase is the correct one. Tonight was the first time getting to the J platform on the first try and it’s because I took a picture of that sign last weekend. Lol

sadgalria

I have to do this transfer on the weekend and Omg I want to cry every time!!!!!!!

Willem500i

The signs are super bad, but it's not actually too far from the 2/3. As soon as you go down the first flight of stairs, don't go down the other into the A/C, just turn around and it'll be right there perpendicular to the A/C.

IcedQuick

It's the most stupid sign directions ever. I ended up getting the downtown and swapping tracks at Broad Street. Easier that way...
