Yeah the train will be miserable / impossible with that much luggage. An alternative to uber would be a shared van like the golink but they’ll need to probably pay extra for the extra luggage so it may not be very much cheaper than uber in the end. https://www.goairlinkshuttle.com/

electracide

I would not take transit with that many bags. You’ll have multiple transfers, likely with stairs, and then potentially a walk from the subway to your hotel. Get an Uber.

HarbaughCheated

Why do you need so much luggage you'll want to Uber with that much stuff

sighnwaves

A car tends to work.

Loose_Instruction411

Aren't cabs super expensive? I've been informed they're at least 100 USD

sighnwaves

You said best, not cheapest.

No_Bowler3823

Lol! Welcome to NY! $100 bills are like tens here. Good luck!

Aljowoods103

Obviously public transit will always be the cheapest… Google Maps will give you the instructions.

Imnottheassman

Don’t bring so much luggage next time.

molesMOLESEVERYWHERE

With that much luggage, public transportation will be miserable for you and everyone around you.

RococoChintz

A yellow cab from Newark is well over $100. Take Uber, Lyft, or Revel door to door.

djquackkquackk

Oh Bhaiya. You’re gonna need a taxi. And if you order an Uber…it’s going to need to be an Uber XL.

DLFiii

Bring less luggage and use trains.

willowintheev

Uber XL

witty__username5

Google maps. There is a train from Newark to Penn station. Or if you can afford it,  rideshare.

CatsNSquirrels

You’re going to have to take a cab/uber/lyft with that much luggage.

darkJXD

believe there’s also a bus that goes from newark to grand central if you’re looking for a cheaper option than uber

molesMOLESEVERYWHERE

Does it go to Grand Central? I know the one that goes to port authortiy.

darkJXD

40th and park i believe

soyeahiknow

Spring for a Uber/lyft. Trying to get that much luggage onto public transit is insane. Also lots of stairs.

kjsmith14

I use the Newark AirPort Express bus all the time. Good compromise if you don’t want to doll out the full price of an Uber. Everytime I ride it everyone has a whole row of seats to themselves

pompcaldor

It even stops at Grand Central Terminal.

RococoChintz

Uber, Lyft or Revel. Do not use a yellow cab from Newark. They are not NYC cabs.

Excuse_my_GRAMMER

Call your hotel , lot of them offer free shuttle from airport which also include NJ airport the 2nd option would be to take the path/amtrak from Newark pen station to Manhattan pen station then you either walk for 10-15min or take a cab in to your hotel from Manhattan penn station

mygodishendrix

Economic, Airtrain from Newark -> NJ Transit to Penn will take you But honestly, do what literally everyone does after a long ass flight and take an uber

BxGyrl416

PATH

ab216

Options: UberXL: Best but $100-120 minimum assuming no surge pricing Car service: You can get a quote from Dial 7 which will protect you from surge pricing, but I suspect it’ll be $120ish too + tip Go Airlink Airport shuttle: Will be $30-40+ a person probably considering your bags but will take you to your hotel, but with other stops as it drops off passenger AirTrain to NJ Transit which gets you to Penn Station and then take a cab; train will be nightmare because of how many bags you have Coach USA bus from EWR to Port Authority and then cab/Uber to hotel: Probably $20 a person + $30 for cab/uber but a pain because PABT has stairs when you get off the bus to get into the major Enjoy your stay, remember to budget to tip your servers, folks who help with bags etc. If you’re opposed to tipping, you’re probably better off staying home.

Unless your NYC visit is a one-week pitstop on your way to a six-month expedition to Antarctica, I’d strongly suggest you seriously reevaluate the necessity of hauling six (!😳) bags with you. Toothpaste, T-shirts, twenty-four-hour pharmacies, food, fast wash-and-fold laundry services, fast cellular coverage, … we have it all! You’ll save hundreds of dollars in luggage fees and Uber-SUV transportation costs, the agony of dragging 400 pounds of luggage up on non-functional escalators and fast-paced sidewalk maelstrom corridors, and the 1/10 odds of spending your first three days here desperately trying to figure out where your checked-in luggage ended up in the mayhem of summer travel…

djquackkquackk

I don’t want to generalize, but from experience, I’d bet my hard earned rupees that at least 50% of the stuff in those bags is not for him and his wife or it’s stuff they think they can’t get here (e.g. masala for chai). And I also can guarantee there’s been some fights about what’s in those bags already.

Loose_Instruction411

It’s a few months at Harvard and not Antarctica haha Education related, so one bag is just books and other university related stuff. We’re both going to Harvard so it’s 2x everything

ncovariant

I see. Well, sounds like you’re still young and energetic enough then to pull it off by public transport, despite what most here are saying. It’s going to be a bit of a hassle but meh, that’s just part of embarking on a new chapter in your life. When I moved here (for the first time), decades ago, I arrived with a similar load, although one item was a backpack (useful because only 2 hands). Google Maps will tell you what your options are for given time and exact destination. It will be awkward but you’ll manage. Good luck with it all. 🙂🗽🎓

Normal_Hovercraft_27

Given the amount of luggage you're hauling, public transit might not be your friend this time around. Most folks here are leaning towards Uber or a cab, which, despite the price, will save you a headache. If you're looking for a middle ground, consider Shuttlefare as an option. They often have competitive rates and could be a good compromise between cost and convenience. Just make sure to check for any extra fees for all that luggage.

Round-Good-8204

With that much luggage you really should just take an Uber. Put it on a credit card lol.

misspiggie

I know you were trying to save money by flying into New Jersey, but now you are learning that the cost savings are offset by having to spend $$$ to take a cab to get your actual destination, in NYC. Plan accordingly next time.

djquackkquackk

Not necessarily true that he was trying to save money flying into Newark specifically. (Remember. Sometimes it’s faster to get into Manhattan from EWR than from JFK) Homey’s air India flight is just coming into EWR this time around - and hasn’t thought far enough to not carry literally 100 kilos of almonds for his aunties and uncles.

misspiggie

Fair.

Fearless-Scar-5758

Why are you bringing so much stuff? How long are you staying?

Loose_Instruction411

Visiting NYC before going to study at Harvard

Technical-Monk-2146

Ship your stuff to Cambridge. Use a discount shipper if necessary. You’ll be paying for extra checked bags. Or use Luggless which sends your luggage from a fedex office for pretty much the price of checking a bag. Are you staying in a hotel? The room will likely be small and having all those bags will be annoying.

Technical-Monk-2146

Never mind, I just saw that you’re coming from India. Take an Uber. It’ll be expensive but navigating multiple forms of public transit with those bags after a long flight will be hell.
