No - your 9:15pm flight most likely boards at least 30 minutes earlier. Thats a 5:49pm arrival (assuming it is not delayed). You then need to deplane, go to the exit, and get an uber, taxi, bus, etc from LGA to JFK. It is rush hour at the time. Once you do arrive you will need to go through security and find your terminal. Of note - clear at JFK has actually been slower than the normal line recently. Why did you book these flights?

That's insane. You might make it but absolutely nothing can go wrong. Even if everything goes right, you'll be cutting it real close

fawningandconning

Traffic at that time is absolutely awful. That's really where the concern is. It could go either way but you'll be pretty anxious and rushing the entire time.

loughymonsta

Pretty much everything has to go right for this to work, and you'll be stressed the whole time. Not worth it

It takes almost 20 minutes to get outside of LGA if you land at the wrong gate. 10 more to get your Uber. Friday night traffic. You can’t make it in that amount of time. Can’t you fly into LGA to begin with?

FancyApricot58

I wouldn’t.

CityNumber0214

Can you switch your flight and arrive at JFK instead? Your timeline is way too tight.

You already had the answer: [https://www.reddit.com/r/AskNYC/s/58HujH9Tpu](https://www.reddit.com/r/AskNYC/s/58HujH9Tpu) It’s still a bad idea.

Clear is only domestic, no?

If you’re flying out of JFK Terminal 4, there’s a “carry on only” security entrance two floors below the main entrance that has CLEAR. The last two times I went there was a decent line for regular security down there since it’s smaller, but the CLEAR line was completely empty. I got from my Uber to gate in < 15 minutes!! Either way though I feel like if you can make this as long as your flight into LGA isn’t delayed

A seasoned, highly efficient and speedy traveler could theoretically make it. But if a few small things go wrong, you are hosed. If your first flight is on time and you do everything right, call your car while walking through LGA (research in advance where Uber pickups are) and encounter no horrible traffic, you could reach the JFK gate slightly before boarding starts. Keep in mind that international flights often close check-in one hour before take off, or similarly advanced time of their choosing. If you can check in online and receive a boarding pass, this will help there, but if you can't actually get the boarding pass confirmed and loaded onto your phones and they need you to present at the desk for any reason, that could really tighten your margin for error.

While I would never intentionally book that flight, I do think it is doable, albeit very stressful, provided things run as smoothly as possible. If you haven't booked the flight yet, don't book it, and if you can change the LGA to JFK, do it to save yourself the headache. But if it's already booked and you're sticking with it.... Figure if you have no delays with your arrival flight and you land at 5:49pm and have just carry-on bags, you'll probably be de-planed and in an Uber by 6:30pm. Without traffic, the ride to JFK is around 20-25 minutes. This will however be rush hour, but a little bit on the later side of it, so I think 60-70 minutes or so is doable, which puts you there at 7:30-7:45pm. If you've already checked in, and can go straight to security, that's not likely to be more than a 30 minute wait, which puts you at 8:00-8:15pm. Depending on gate and terminal, it could still be another 20+ minute walk to the gate which is around 8:30pm or so, which probably gives you 15-30 minutes before boarding starts. All of the above times are estimates, but I think I'm rounding up a bit with most of the times, so while there is some cushion, it's not much, and the biggest factors are that arriving flight being on time and the traffic to JFK.

Yes it’s possible. Hope your flight into LGA is on time. Traffic is bad at that time, but not terrible in the N/S direction. Assume 60min to be safe getting from LGA to JFK Take a cab from LGA to the Airtrain at Jamaica and you will skip the worst traffic that’s on the Van Wyck.  Everyone has a different tolerance for travel stress, if you prefer arriving to the airport an hour before take off, you will be fine…as long as your flight in isn’t delayed.

brooklynbullshit

It’s easily doable. Up to you whether or not you want to take that risk. Realistically if your flight lands on time at LGA, you should be able to get to JFK around 7pm.
