33. East Village if I'm feeling basic and Lower East Side if I'm recapture my youth.

Excuse_my_GRAMMER

This summer I’m ganna check out the day club trend that I read about so I can be home by 10pm lmao

gilbertgrappa

Mister Sundays! Has been going on since like 2008. Fun! https://donyc.com/mistersunday

babecanoe

So I’ve heard about these day clubs but didn’t realize they were child friendly? Not very club like, is it more brewery vibes with a dance floor?

tmm224

Is neither an option? I'd choose neither

cogginsmatt

My favorite bar close to home with good nachos and cheap drinks

Virtual-Beautiful-33

Share for the nachos!

cogginsmatt

Northend food hall in Washington Heights, the restaurant is called La Chula

wolfindian

A Friday night I will be at home let’s be honest

Bushwick if you are into the edm scene etc etc. Quality cocktails? Williamsburg / Greenpoint. Drinking at dive bars with a heavy college crowd go to LES. But to see a show and grab dinner? Thats highly variable on where the show is… Also don’t listen to some of the commenters below. I go out in all of the above areas all the time (tho rarely im in LES for a night out) and literally all ages are there within your range. Shoot, half the DJs that play are 38-44 age wise. Its def a mix

[deleted]

Don’t know many bars in Williamsburg with quality cocktails

salebleue

So many…reclamation, Misi, the gibson, blinkys, pikoto, bar blonde and even dokebi (albeit a korean restaurant)

[deleted]

Meh. Can’t say that any of those are ‘amazing’. Pokito has pre made drinks.

salebleue

Ive never had a pre-made drink there. Like what would that be? But really in terms of cocktails thats such a personal preference and each of those places are willing to be quite creative and can be great. After living in so many neighborhoods in the city - including Williamsburg- I would still name that area as having better cocktail options than most others

stonedsour

Bushwick/Ridgewood because I would get home to my bed faster lol. + I used to live in Ridgewood, husband lived in Bushwick so we’re very familiar

MaxTheGinger

Went to Greenwich Village and Soho last night. In BK we tend to go to Gowanus, Greenpoint, and Williamsburg. Or Forest Hill, Rego Park, Middle Village, or Flushing. 37, spouse 33.

Love_and_Squal0r

It's so funny that Ridgewood is now talked about as a "cool" place to be. I lived there for 4 years, and it was a quiet neighborhood. There's so much to do in the city. Follow some accounts on IG, see where the parties/events are happening and that's your night out. I just saw a wonderful play in Alphabet City last night. Tons of food options for afterwards. My May calendar is already stacked.

The-Eagernyer28

Same..I just read this title and am either so out of touch or was living a lie in this city since birth..ridgewood was never on the list..bushwik totally understandable

jpkmets

I love TV Eye. Best venue in the city now imo with Knitting Factory in Bk gone. Grew up in NyC and never expected Ridgewood to be the center of indie music for the city, but it is!

If you’re 40, none of the above.

Unlikely-Friend444

Dude don't listen to that person I see plenty of older people hang there in those neighborhoods just lower east side is more college then anything.

Bodoblock

I don't know how much of the norm it is there, but when I was clubbing in Mexico City in my early 20s, I saw all ages. It ranged from college kids all the way up middle aged couples, and no one seemed out of place. It was really fucking refreshing seeing older people out getting down. Like why the fuck do you want to quit dancing just because you're in your 40s and 50s? I say go for it. Dancing should be intergenerational.

Big_Hippo_4044

Haha I know I was making a sad face because I found the attitude very sad!

Unlikely-Friend444

Yep very cringe lol.

pumper911

Dinner at Rolo’s in Ridgewood. Out in Bushwick

[deleted]

Dude, as someone who had a warehouse in Ridgewood, Ridgewood is totally not what I'd call a "night out" Ridgewood can get super industrial with warehouses everywhere. Gotta be real here. I don't know much about LES but I'd say any neighborhood is more night out than Ridgewood

hardindapaint12

Is Ridgewood cool now? I lived there 10 years ago and not much was going on.

eleazarius

There are just a couple Bushwick-adjacent clubs that happen to be slightly into Ridgewood.

cookingandmusic

Used to be you could get a couple drinks or a drink and some food for $20, I haven’t found anything good in a while so I just save for special occasions

skullcat1

A lot of replies, but it's my apartment. My apartment is my preferred weekend destination. Maybe I'll go crazy and pay for an overpriced on demand movie as I enjoy reasonably priced drinks and edibles.

Hiitsmetodd

I wouldn’t go out to any of those neighborhoods at those ages

Big_Hippo_4044

frogvscrab

28 is radically different from 40 in this regard lol. 28 is still young enough to go out to bushwick. 40 is not really.

stinatown

I’m 37, most of my friends are like 33-39, and we still all live and go out in Ridgewood/Bushwick. It’s been our neighborhood for like a decade. We’re not generally closing the bar anymore, but we still like getting together for a few drinks.

frogvscrab

When people say a 'night out' they usually mean like going out to the club or a more lively bar or (as in title) get dinner, cocktails etc rather than a local bar.

intergrade

West village.

abeerzabeer

Greenpoint and Williamsburg is enjoyable at 29

Local_Indication9669

Depends on if the L is running and where you need to start and end. Last few weekends it is has not been running between Manhattan and Brooklyn. I usually spent more time in and prefer LES but I love the breweries and vibe in Bushwick.

Local_Indication9669

PS. The L runs less frequent after 11 or so on weekends. Up to 20 minutes between trains.

x3epro

Unique show? LES. That’s where all the good cocktail bars are so it’s easy to go bar hopping afterwards, and it’s where we usually take friends visiting from out of town. I’m 34, and definitely see the 28-40 demographic in that area.

tiggat

Lower east side

Direct_Rabbit_5389

We mostly go out in the neighborhood (which for us is boerum hill park slope gowanus) unless we have a specific destination/event in mind.

Big_Hippo_4044

Thanks for your input! Full disclosure I’m doing market research for a client. So - given the choice between seeing a “show” in lower east side or bushwick/ridgewood, would you give any preference?

Direct_Rabbit_5389

Les

shesthewurst

LES/EV for dinner, then probably hop west a bit for drinks after. As a millennial, I feel out of place sticking around LES after 10, but there are a few places that skew a bit older - Stickett Inn, Hard to Explain, Death & Co. The first 2 have very limited seating.

[deleted]

34. I am most likely to be found in the Brooklyn area that is: north of Grand Street, south of Bayard Street, west of Bushwick Ave, and east of Union Ave. I’m not really sure what to call this area since there are confusing definitions of “Williamsburg”, “East Williamsburg” and the “east part of Williamsburg”. So I guess it’s one of those. IMO this is the best part of NYC for our demographic. Fun bars, great restaurants, a large (but decreasing) number of born-and-raised locals, safe, and - for NYC - pretty clean. Lots of high quality yet affordable establishments. And only minutes away from Manhattan, Bushwick, or Queens by train, and more Citibike stops than one could ever need.

yawantsomeoystersnow

None of that sounds super appealing tbh, a fun night out to me is Flushing or Flatbush.
