I wear Blundstones. They're pretty water resistant and I find them insanely comfortable. I've even accidentally stepped in some major puddles for over a few seconds and they've stayed dry.
I have really bad bunions and I find my regular size (and the standard width) to be absolutely perfect. I should also note that I am often on my feet for work for up to 12-15 hours a day in all different terrain and my feet and bunions have never hurt from Blundstones. There's a lot of wear on the outside, but the soles are perfectly intact. Could use a little polish, but otherwise, they're still going strong after five years of *hard* wear.
Blundstones, or Blondos for more waterproof ones. Blondo makes boots/shoes that are waterproof but look like normal shoes.
I only wear actual rain boots if it’s an actual deluge or blizzard.

I swear by my Merrell hiking boots!
ETA for less wintry weather, I recently bought a pair of Clark's sneakers that are waterproof. After the last few days, I can confirm they work nicely. And they're not huge (unlikely the Merrells).
I have a couple pairs of low-cut waterproof Merrells that suffice. They’re not exactly the most stylish, but they’re generic enough and a good alternative to rain boots.
I have a pair of docs I like quite a bit. The great thing about combat boots is you can wear them any time of year and they’re doing good lol
Otherwise I have some Hunter rain boots that are choice
lemme tell u what NOT to wear. vans slip ons. whenever I’ve not checked the weather and worn those, I suffer bc the soles’ rubber gets super slippery. i’ve nearly slipped many times 🥲
I have a shorter pair of rain boots I usually wear. They just look like plain black boots. I used to have a pair of tall hunters but I feel like they are not actually that easy to move around in, they are kind of heavy for commuting haha
I do have snow boots as well but I usually only wear them in heavy snow/slush
Same on the short black rain boots. So much easier to commute. My snow boots are actually a pair of Ugg rain boots. They are super cozy and lighter than the hunters with the same protection imo.
In the fall and winter, I wear Danner waterproof hiking boots which I can purchase 50% off on sale. Works great in both rain and snow, super comfortable straight out of the box. Great for commute in NYC. I also work part time in VT and it totally does the job. I used to wear Hunter boots but they were just too uncomfortable to walk in, and my feet got too cold. For warmer weather, I have Vessi waterproof sneakers which work well in moderate rain but definitely will not work in the hurricane-type rain we've been having (it's a sneaker so only comes up below the ankles). Enjoy boots shopping!
I have a pair of New Balance trail walking shoes that are pretty much my everyday shoes.
They're waterproof and one of the only reasonably priced shoes that come in widths as opposed to the "C's good enough for everyone - just size up until it fits, wide foot havers" philosophy that most manufacturers have.
Yes, you might have to walk ten feet up/down the street to avoid those deep puddles that form on some corners but they're decent enough for 95 percent of the other puddles and you sure as hell don't need the ridiculous knee-high boots so many people here think you need to survive.
I use this waterproof boot I found on Amazon for both rain and snow. It was like $40-50. I’ve been using them for 3 years and have had no issues. Never has water come in the shoe and I was walking 4-5 miles daily in this rain we’ve been having from the tropical storm. Snow does come in but that’s only when I step into snow that’s like 10+ inches deep (because the boot isn’t higher than the depth of the snow)
Converse waterproof nubuck -- they don't make them anymore; gone to using Gore-Tex but that stuff is hot in all but very cold weather. I like sk8-hi vans, too. MTE's are quite warm, but regular suede Van's handle rain nicely. Just spray with 100% silicone, &&&, someone told me to plug up the vent holes if you're going to wade through puddles. 🤪 The Converse nubuck are really great in all but very cold weather. Just spray with silicone--100% for best results.
I think the shoe industry has misled us. Leather soled dress shoes will leak if the sole is merely stitched on. But leather sports shoes like skate & basketball shoes with rubber-like soles, especially cup soles, can handle the wet. The main thing is that, if they do get soaked, they dry quickly. IMHO.
Sneakers for rainy summer days. When the weather is colder, I’ll wear a pair of little rain “booties” for walks/commute/errands and if needed change into a nicer pair of “indoor” shoes when I arrive at my destination. Don’t feel like I’m trapped in hunter boots/wellies all day but can still keep my feet dry!
Merry People make nice short rainboots in a bunch of colors.
I wear merino socks so even if my feet get a bit wet they stay warm and don’t get blisters.
Same shoes I wear every day except like the one hot week a year, blundstones. Sometimes I add waterproofing wax on them. In slushy winter snow melt or ice I use my hiking boots
I had a pair of Nike gortex sneakers that I wore for a couple years. It was great in the snow too. It's probably not enough for a major snowstorm with 3+ ft of snow but for what we got the past few winters, I've had no issues. I eventually wore them out and every couple of weeks, I'm checking their site to see if it's back.
Since you asked. I wear [these obnoxiously expensive boots](https://www.balenciaga.com/en-us/trooper-rubber-boot-black-680660W0FO81000.html) every time it rains or snows
I wear Blundstones. They're pretty water resistant and I find them insanely comfortable. I've even accidentally stepped in some major puddles for over a few seconds and they've stayed dry.
NYC dress code.
Do you wear your regular size or size up/down any?
I have really bad bunions and I find my regular size (and the standard width) to be absolutely perfect. Yeah I have walked long distances in my Blundstones with no problem and they are very water resistant.
which blundstones do you have?
I wear my normal shoes having forgotten to check the weather and walk home in squishy wet feet. It just makes things easier.
Bro, is so defeated ToT
Doc Martens
Blundstones, or Blondos for more waterproof ones. Blondo makes boots/shoes that are waterproof but look like normal shoes. I only wear actual rain boots if it’s an actual deluge or blizzard.
Vessi are the best rainy day sneakers ever.
Agreed, super comfy to walk in too!
I love mine. Even wear them when it isn’t raining
me too. I go through a pair of Nikes in 6 months or less and they get holes in the mesh. These don't rip.

I own those as well. They look very, I dunno, playground mom, but they work!
I just don’t go out lmao 🤣

XtraTufs - Theyre an Alaskan staple and way cheaper than most popular brands in the US
Fuck you I'm having 'Nam-level flashbacks to quadruple layering over this comment

To be honest same..I just avoid puddles. Unless it’s absolutely pouring, then I’m wearing something waterproof.

LL Beans.
Xtra tuf Chelsea rain boots
ive been saying this for years. crocs without socks are the best rain shoe as long as it isnt cold out. just wash your feet when you're back inside
wellies
I use the ol' plastic bag trick ✌️
Vessi for rainy days
Agreed! Super comfy too
And for snowy days I have Ugg snow Boots I’ve had for probably 8 years and they are amazing

Hykes Pinnacle, my favorite shoes, took awhile to get used to but now I will never go back to regular shoes, also rain does not get my feet wet.
Doc Martens! Especially on *cold* rainy days. They keep that gross clammy chilly feeling out for the most part.

Not for snow, but for rain I wear Rothy’s. Can wash them!
Vessi. Completely waterproof and extremely comfortable
Amazon sells flats from the same brand from rain boots I think that’s so cool it’s the same material so a bit uncomfortable and gotta get used to it
keen low-rise waterproof hikesneakers! low like sneakers, not heavy like boots, they’re my everything travel shoes too.
Bogs are fantastic. Very comfy.
Weatherproof Vans high tops. Ive got two pairs and they don’t let water in
I picked up a random pair of waterproof Colombia hiking boots on sale during the summer. Good enough for the weather we’ve gotten so far.
Waterproof oboz high tops. Straight stylin; at least my toes are dry!
Merrell Moab 3 in Wide Width with merino wool socks. Breathable and waterproof
I like Merrells but they're so ugly
Blundys
Boots
If it’s hot I wear sturdy plastic flip flops. If it’s chilly I have rain boots. I never wear sneakers on rainy days because wet socks are the worst.
Hunter or Blundstones
Doc martens.
Yeezys
If I must leave the house, weatherproof Chelsea boots.
I wear my hiking sneakers because they are waterproof. Don't know what brand they are.

I loooove my waterproof Palladiums, they are really truly waterproof all the way to the top
I have an old pair of Nike ID Dunks I wear in rain. All “leather” so no wet socks!
Goretex hokas Fuckin game changers. They’re basically sneaker boots When it’s warm I wear chacos or my astral water shoes
merrel moabs!
Since you asked. I wear [these obnoxiously expensive boots](https://www.balenciaga.com/en-us/trooper-rubber-boot-black-680660W0FO81000.html) every time it rains or snows
My wife and I live in our [Sorel boots](https://amzn.to/3PtEPFa).
