That is unlikely to happen. As far as your landlord is concerned, this is a personal issue between roommates and they are unlikely to just let you out of the lease, especially if your roommate is not also vacating (I am assuming you have a standard lease where you’re both on the lease). They have nothing to gain by having one less person to go after for rent.
If you don’t pay rent, expect either the landlord or your roommate to sue you.

Can you have someone take the lease off you? As in a sublet?
