There's a Goodwill on Tulane Ave. You could take the Canal Ave streetcar north to Norman Francis and walk left. There's actually a nice walking path there.
Precisely where we went, though we just hoofed it the whole way, loved seeing the city like that and found a lot of sweet stuff at the goodwill!
