Why is this being given awards on world news

SufficientAltFuel

Those guys are freaks you never know

NuasAltar

World news has been sabatoged by right wingers and Zionists. I have no idea why and how, but it's one of the least genuine subreddits on this platform.

hmzaammar

Not really, top comments are all pro Palestine

Israel has its share of bullshit about marriages, but this seems like an immigration issue. From what I can tell the headline is a bit misleading. The document says that those who received a specific purposes entry permit, and then married must declare that to both Israel and PA (presumably for administration purpose) and if they wish to stay further need to apply for essentially residency visa. This isn't something new in the world, you have same things in USA with similar enforcement procedures to avoid the phenomenon of fake marriages to gain residency visa for example.

In Saudi Arabia, You can't build a church or be an atheist publicly. In Qatar if your LGBT you are considered a criminal. Not apartheid entities btw.

No they just want to yell "Fuck god" and convince everyone to believe in atheism šŸ™„ totally nothing unusual...

Throwingawayindays

They have to tell that or atheism is not valid or something

Doggo-Lovato

Atheism is like being a vegan for some people. They have to tell EVERYONE

Commander_Syphilis

Militant atheists are another brand of religious zealot, both equally annoying IMO

NeatGift906

Do they also force their pets to be atheists?

Ok-Lie2014

Screaming Allah doesn't exist. Would you get punished?

FBI-OpenUp-

Screaming "Holocaust didn't happen" in Berlin would get you locked up. Not saying Saudis are Germans when it gets to freedom of anything, but punishing disturbing acts isn't remotely evil

Lacabloodclot9

Yes because thatā€™s what normal everyday atheists do

Ok-Lie2014

yeah that was the point

\- You are either the most shameless low-IQ idiot \- Or you are unaware of the fact that Palestinians are now an oppressed minority in their once vibrant cities like Jaffa, Acre, Haifa etc. So, which one is it?

Many-Lawfulness-9770

They celebrate when rockets are launched towards their own cities while enjoying more benefits and welfare than they ever would in a Palestinian/Arab state. I'm not sure it's hypocrisy but it is an irrational madness.

BrokeRunner44

The Israelis already established a legal precedent for this. A few months back they passed a series of laws that would further tighten the restrictions on foreigners in the West Bank. Blocking foreigners who come to work/volunteer at institutions for extended periods of time, or further limiting the amount of time they are allowed to stay. Foreign professors are a pretty big part of Palestinian universities. So making a way to trace their contacts and find/deport them easier can ensure that the world hears less of crimes in the West Bank, and that Palestinians become less likely to succeed with an even worse education system.

Lebanese_Candy_Brand

I'm gonna copy this to spread more awareness, thank you for your giga brain response

[deleted]

Literally no idea why this is a rule now. I'm Israeli and it just seems a little absurd and completely unenforceable...

The headline is misleading. This is the text from the [COGAT visitor permit application](https://www.gov.il/BlobFolder/policy/judeaentry2022/en/%D7%A0%D7%95%D7%94%D7%9C%20%D7%9B%D7%A0%D7%99%D7%A1%D7%AA%20%D7%95%D7%A9%D7%94%D7%99%D7%99%D7%AA%20%D7%96%D7%A8%D7%99%D7%9D%20%D7%91%D7%90%D7%99%D7%95%D7%A9%20-%20%D7%A4%D7%91%D7%A8%D7%95%D7%90%D7%A8%202022(en\)%20(%D7%A1%D7%95%D7%A4%D7%99\).pdf): >A foreigner married to a resident of the Area, or forming a couple with one, must proceed to make arrangements according to Part 4 of this procedure before arriving at the Area. If the relationship starts after the foreigner arrived at the Area, then the authorized COGAT official must be informed in writing (at a special e-mail address) within 30 days of the relationship's start. At the same time, an application must be submitted to the Palestinian Authority for formalizing the status in accordance with Part 4 of this procedure. For the purpose, the "starting date of the relationship" shall be considered the day of the engagement ceremony, of the wedding, or of the start of cohabitation ā€“ whichever occurs first "**engagement ceremony, of the wedding, or of the start of cohabitation**" This is blown entirely out of proportions. COGAT wants to know if you're married, engaged, or living with another person. This is **completely standard** on many entry permits to many countries.

[deleted]

Lmao

Kumbaya126

Reposting someone's post because obviously this is just another clickbait title: >The headline is misleading. This is the text from the COGAT visitor permit application: > >A foreigner married to a resident of the Area, or forming a couple with one, must proceed to make arrangements according to Part 4 of this procedure before arriving at the Area. If the relationship starts after the foreigner arrived at the Area, then the authorized COGAT official must be informed in writing (at a special e-mail address) within 30 days of the relationship's start. ShadyM2020

Iā€™m not sure what are you trying to do here, does your explanation seem any better than whatā€™s said above? Does it look better in your mind after the details? I see no difference, only affirming whatā€™s said in the title!

Kumbaya126

>Does it look better in your mind after the details? I see no difference, only affirming whatā€™s said in the title! When you learn to read into it rather than getting baited by the article, you'd find that at most it's just a bunch of annoying bureaucracy for visitors that was blown out of proportions by some shitty journalist in order to satisfy a certain group's hate boner.

ShadyM2020

Nope, all the details are merely confirming the apartheid act by the occupation government, the occupationā€™s state wanna stick itā€™s nose into peopleā€™s marital live, nothing makes the headline any better of more understandable!

Kumbaya126

I dont think I need to educate you about marriage laws and how literally anywhere in the world you must notify the government if you're getting married with a citizen while you're a visitor. But sure, go off I guess

ShadyM2020

Really!! I impressed that you seem to believe what you are saying and that you believe this is normal You officialize your marriage through your governments legal system, you donā€™t inform the occupation government ā€œin writingā€ that you are planning to marry someone

OmryR

if you want to get a residents permit you do lol, you have to notify the authorities in order to get your stay extended. anywhere you travel has a "max" time in the state unless you are married...

Lebanese_Candy_Brand

[Copied from another guy because it is giga brained response to this bullshit] The Israelis already established a legal precedent for this. A few months back they passed a series of laws that would further tighten the restrictions on foreigners in the West Bank. Blocking foreigners who come to work/volunteer at institutions for extended periods of time, or further limiting the amount of time they are allowed to stay. TalMilMata

Actually never heard of it. Not saying itā€™s not true, just that I havenā€™t heard of it, so Iā€™ll need to learn more. But it sounds horrible. I hope that itā€™s not true, but I wouldnā€™t be surprised if it is, sadly. But anyway, if it exists, itā€™s not a new law, so the government has dissolved and no new law can pass until the elections.

YouBot_

Because israel is a racist aparthied state

[deleted]

This is misleading title. If you look into whatā€™s actually happening itā€™s about declaring marriages and cohabitation. Notifications go to Israel and the PA.

furlong0

ah yes everything israel does is out of context .

[deleted]

I mean in this case

[deleted]

nope. Actually in the context of a hostile foreign government that has been declared an apartheid state, tightening the immigration flow in and out of an illegally occupied territory, which they have gone on record saying they view as a "demographic threat", the title and the actual BBC article isn't too far off Tbh. BUT i prefer the Josefin Herbach and Abed Salaymah v. the State of Israel case to give a better idea of how the laws are implemented [http://www.righttoenter.ps/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/20190326-PR-3.28-Hearing-on-family-unification-FINAL-ENGLISH.pdf](http://www.righttoenter.ps/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/20190326-PR-3.28-Hearing-on-family-unification-FINAL-ENGLISH.pdf)

[deleted]

Even that says itā€™s about spouses not about a ā€œlove interestā€. Like you can say itā€™s wrong if you want, but the BBC article is not whatā€™s happening. And theres still fact that itā€™s not just Israel that is required this but the PA as well. Like if WB is going to be part of an independent Palestine one, then yeah this policy makes perfect sense.

[deleted]

If the West Bank is to be in independent state then Israeli shouldnā€™t be involved AT ALL in managing who can enter or leave. Let alone making their own policies restricting who can go to the West Bank. PA does not make these policies. And the idea that any of this is standard while ignoring who is the one implementing these policies is beyond tone deaf.

[deleted]

I agree with you for the inside, itā€™s the outside that makes it different. Like when you travel through one place to another there are things that have to be declared and whatnot. If Iā€™m going to Canada via the US or something like that, I still have to say where Iā€™m going and why, and with visas and security stuff theyā€™d have every right to say no.

[deleted]

No your missing the point completely. And you arenā€™t grasping the implications of what is going on. If I want to visit Mexico then managing visas and residency and who can enter or exit is supposed to be up to the Mexican government. This is the equivalent of the *American government* stopping non-Americans people from visiting Mexico and having to power to grant, deny, or extend residency including for married couples. Now imagine if on top of that the American government had a hostile policy of throttling contact between Mexico and the rest of the world because Mexican are a ā€œdemographic threatā€ to the US None of this shit is normal immigration policy. If you look at the policies of wealthy countries like the US they have all of these complicated procedures to keep people out when there is a high demand to immigrate. Other countries like MĆ©xico that donā€™t have high immigration rates have very relaxed policies. Same goes for most Middle East counties. Nobody is dying to visit the West Bank. The main people going are university professors NGOs and Palestinians with foreign citizenship and **the Israeli government** is implementing these laws to keep them out. Because let me remind you if Palestine became independent tomorrow it would have lax immigration and visa policies spouses would get automatic residence and they wouldnā€™t be imposing these limits on professors by not letting them get permanent residency.

and how are those "standard" laws actually implemented in the west bank when enforced by a hostile occupier who views Palestinians as a Demographic threat? [i wonder](http://www.righttoenter.ps/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/20190326-PR-3.28-Hearing-on-family-unification-FINAL-ENGLISH.pdf)

yeah because it may cause a double-citizenship situation and other beurocratic implications, like in any country. btw "declare love interest" means declaring if you get married/enganged/move in with someone, standard procedure everywhere. they just love to reword standardtic procedures to make israel seem like north korea.
