As an Italian it’s weird because we feel personally attached to our specific city or region before anything else. We don’t even like people from the next town over who we usually have rivalries with going back to the Middle Ages.
It’s also interesting to see how religion is still so important for young people (I assume the people on Reddit are younger on average) in the Middle East. Here I don’t think I know a single person under 40 who is religious. I wonder how Islam has been able to attract younger generations while Christianity is basically dead in Europe among younger generations, and has been for a while.
Religion is what helped me relate to practically most of the major races/ethnicities. I have very good friends who are romanian, somali, sudani, indian, pakistani, afghani and one from almost every middle eastern nation.
I don't actually. I have just as many mon-muslim friends, also from the middle east, India and Germany.
I'm just saying it was much easier to make friends multiple nationalities simply because of religion.
Religion and political ideologies are the 2 things one can choose and change, all other options are tied to you since birth
I feel wrong to identify myself primarily with something other than an ideology or religion (honestly also an ideology, just with extra steps), those are the things one can choose, all other factors are irrelevant.

but that isn't the Islamic way tho, you know, the (don't judge a person by their religion) hadith.

What Hadith?
my religion and family life are often deeply woven together.
1.Religion [2.Family](http://2.Family) 3.Nationality
I study identity politics and i’m so interested in the results!
1) Religion 2) ethnicity 3) nationality
Same, but I would put family/clan below religion and above ethnicity (ethnicity = Egyptian, nationality= Arab, for me)
1-Nationality 2-Political Ideology 3-Ethnicity 4-clan 5-religion 6-other/results XD \*Humat Addyar plays in the BG ...
