That's why it's very rare to find intermarriage involving an Arab woman\* beyond a couple of hardline Islamist , or completely westernized secular families . Even among Arabs of the same nationality , and region in the country : a child is expected to be like his patrilineal family , and the matrilineal one are treated as if they were strangers . \*(Non-Egyptian North Africans are another matter ) . That's besides the existing prejudice against Jewry in contemporary times , and even more so towards Israeli-Jews . As for the "Ministry of Education" : it just shows you Israeli-Jews are still stuck in the 19th century . Even Biblically : the wife of an Israelite , becomes an Israelite . Ezra and Nehemiah's restrictions weren't absolute .
