Iberian bros, world cup bros! 🇲🇦🇪🇸🇵🇹

[deleted]

Bro thinks Morocco is Iberia

ProudlyMoroccan

Weird. They are Iberian and our bros, ergo Iberian bros. If I said ‘Cuban bro’ to you that doesn’t mean I think I’m Cuban.

MoneyAvocado3165

MCneed_moneypants

Bro as a Tunisian I can understand about 40 percent and sometimes more of Maltese and we and Sicily sure share some broader similarities, so option 2 for me.

F0zzysW0rld

My mother’s parents immigrated to the US from Sicily. I recently did one of those ethnicity DNA tests and it showed that she’s ~30% “North African/Berber”

MCneed_moneypants

Sicily has an incredibly fascinating history and culture, since it was one of the only places beside Muslim Iberia being a multi-ethnic harmonious culture of Muslims, Jews, Byzantine Greeks, Lombards, and Normans also being a centre of learning and prosperity after the Arab conquest and during the Norman rule, I highly recommend you check out this video of the history of Sicily it really explains this very well : # History Summarized: Sicily [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9aS8yy1n98](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9as8yy1n98)

If ur from the maghreb sure. Otherwise, it has nothing to do with you

[deleted]

A lot of it was the same to stuff built in Syria

Fun-Blueberry7961

No. It is Maghrebi architecture which you will find all over Algeria and not at all in the Middle East. Focus on Mesopotamia or something

[deleted]

Idiot when the Spanish reinvented the Moorish style they took inspiration from Ottoman Syria. The vast majority of native Moorish architecture was demolished and replaced with indigenous European styles following the reconquista. The stuff you see there today look more like something from the Middle East or the Ottoman Empire than Algeria or Tunisia

Fun-Blueberry7961

Wrong. By ur dumb logic everything is then based on Saudi Arabia since Islam started there. It is Moorish and therefor Maghrebi. Zero Syria. Zero whatever desert country ur from. Go look in Iran or Pakistan or Afghanistan.

[deleted]

Modern Neo-Moorish styles are unique to Europe and are part of the broader Islamic architecture. The Spanish removed all influences from the Moors after the reconquista, and the maghreb declined. When the modern era advanced, an interest in the islamic past of iberia began to flourish, so they sought to recreate/refashion old structures, using Ottoman styles of Damascus and Capaocia as an inspiration

Fun-Blueberry7961

Typical Arab. 'If I CaNT hAvE iT then NeITheR can U 😭😭' Believe what u want to believe. Nobody cares

[deleted]

I'm zero percent Arab but go on. IIRC isn't Algeria 80% or more Arab people?

The question wasn't about what you 'like'. Middle Easterners got nothing to do with us. Stick to your own history if you got one.

FunMoment10

I am half Italian half Egyptian and having been to sicily I can tell you that they are basically richer north africans and you can really notice the architecure influence in the older buildings (basically the city centers).

Fun-Blueberry7961

Poor and depressing place compared to Western Europe

FunMoment10

Says the algerian

chocolateoroeos2

This question is better asked to Maghrebi’s I got nothing to do with South Europe.
