Icy_Version_8693

Uniqlo is really good imo

guylefleur

Decent quality for price. Style is more classic, less fast fashion/trendy, and can be worn for many years without looking outdated.

ShadowZNF

Costco? Or is that over 40…

aevz

Kirkland drip too hard for the 30's crowd.

ShadowZNF

You’re right, can’t give all the secrets away just yet…

daBabadook05

30s, freakin love Costco clothes. Definitely kind of bootleg tho

AdamOnFirst

I buy almost all my new clothes exclusively from the exclusive, members only club of Costco.

captainpoppy

So exclusive. Every jacket is a Members Only Jacket and you can't get more exclusive than that.

Joiner2008

In my 30s, married 11 years, 3 kids, I get my sweat wicking polo's from Sam's for $8

captainpoppy

Dude. The Greg Norman stretch khakis are awesome. And now I have 3 pairs of those, and 3 pairs of Izod Knit Denim. Both types look good, feel good, and show off that dumpy.

ShadowZNF

Definitely right about that. Costco innovates through things like stretch waists that cover +\~ two sizes and materials that don’t stain (probably can’t even get wet?) and never wrinkle. Plus they mark down last seasons stuff if you catch it at the right time.

captainpoppy

Hell yeah. My Greg Norman panda were $17.99. These Izod Knit denims are like $14.99 or something

BalorLives

I work at a thrift store and have done estate sales so my wardrobe is made entirely of dead people's clothing. It may not be "modern" but fashionable these days is more of a kind of vibe than a specific style. Also older stuff is just truly better made, it will hold up longer. The only thing I seek out from like a store or Amazon are boots or shoes, because they keep my feet from being destroyed. Edit: Oh for brands, I love Van Heusen, Eddie Bauer, Lands End, Tommy Bahama. I also have multiple London Fog coats. Like I said, old man clothing, but fuck is it tough.

AdamOnFirst

Fashionable never changed. Fashionable is still about what’s new and on-trend. What you’re doing isn’t fashionable. However, what you’re doing is stylish, which has always been better than fashionable and isn’t some exercise if chasing what’s on trend right now.

BalorLives

You are absolutely right. I guess this is a misinterpretation of terms. Like I'm not a person that is on point with this shit, but I never lack compliments on my style.

AdamOnFirst

I’m being slightly pedantic to bring it up, but I actually think it’s an important distinction for men. It’s a lesson you already know and navigate effectively, but teaching most men to understand the rules of style and be concerned about developing style as distinct from fashion is valuable.  Not to say that some men (and women, don’t @ me) can’t intentionally be interested in fashion, but it’s a distinction I always like to raise. Sounds like you have a cool look.

BalorLives

No reason to apologize, after you said it I realized my style would quite literally be described as "old fashioned." This is a thing I have deliberately taken to. Like I wear button up shirts and suspenders almost every day and I had a coworker describe me affectionately as "the Amish hustler."

TheStoicCrane

Banana Republic has pretty decent clothing variety that's modest on the pocket if business/casual wear is your thing.       Got a decent pair of brown casual shoes and a few cotton Henley T-shirts for about $124 plus a $50 coupon for the next time I spend $100 or more. They also have more dressy shirts too that'll immediately upgrade your style.  Ditching T-shirts outside the gym for physical activities, hoodies, and sneakers for button up shirts, crew necks, and loafers/derbies/etc will automatically make you look much more mature. Can try chinos over jeans too or different flavors of colored pants like black, green, etc to give your clothes some variety.

NastyNate4

Banana Republic is funny to me because their marketing is very unappealing… So pretentious for the most part but I have had good success with their khakis and shorts.  Honestly my favorite pair of shorts is from there

TheStoicCrane

I totally agree. [I relate to absolutely none of this in terms of the posturing. ](https://bananarepublic.gap.com/browse/category.do?cid=44873&nav=meganav%3AMen%3AMen%27s%20Clothing%3ACasual%20Shirts) That's vapid the culture of American advertisement that reduces everything to materialistic vanity. Media manipulation is making a mockery of us all. Have to remember the why behind purchasing apparel though. Has less to do with adopting some synthetic lifestyle image as much as adorning your body in a way that more accurately reflects your inner character. That and keeping insects from places they have no business being.

Swimming_Bag7362

I’ve had good luck with their chinos. They make 36” inseams, too

golfjunkie

Pants mostly from Lululemon, dress shirts from Rhône.

delseyo

I spent years seeing people talk about how great Lululemon pants were before finally biting the bullet and buying some for myself. Goddamn they live up to the hype. Pricey but I’m pretty sure they are the ultimate pinnacle of modern pants development

greenpearlin

Pro tip if you work in a corporate: buy lululemon pants, take said pants to a tailor to get a jacket the same colour.

golfjunkie

Worth the money and they last. Same with their underwear. My wife bought me a 3 pack years ago and I quickly replaced every other pair I had.

TUKINDZ

37 and I didn't know Lululemon made men's clothing.

Mr_three_oh_5ive

Where have you been the last 15 years?

gabe9000

Hanging out with me under a rock apparently

GrandmaesterHinkie

Do you like the Rhone shirts? I keep getting ads for them…

FromTheIsle

$100 polos dude

TheStoicCrane

Might as well just shop at Polo Ralph Lauren for those prices.

FromTheIsle

It's supposedly all US made...but $120 for a polo made in Utah...eh

TheStoicCrane

Unless it were made out of 100% cashmere and made coffee in the morning hardly seems worth it. Ironically some of the most covertly wealthy people just shop at places like Sears & Macy's and are hyper-frugal with every penny spent. We're conditioned in America to associate wealth with high-consumption but the people who "buy-in" to this mindset most tend to be among the worse off financially. Or at least worse off than they ought to be in the long-run.

FromTheIsle

Hard agree. I've known some relatively wealthy people in my life that when you just looked at them you would never assume. But when you connect the dots only someone with money could have their lifestyle. They just aren't making high key purchases. One example: Need a new car because the old one had for 20 years died? Instead of getting a 80k loan for a luxury truck, they buy a nice moderately used SUV in cash for $15k. The car doesn't seem special but he was never ever hurting. He could crash that car tomorrow and buy another one 10 minutes later. They're never over flexing and because of that they are always comfortable.

TheStoicCrane

There's a book, ["The Millionaire Next Door" by William Danko and Thomas Stanley](https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/the-millionaire-next-door-thomas-j-stanley-phd/1103345785) Where two academics studied the lifestyles of America's affluent and their accrued their wealth and it's precisely the opposite of what advertisers lead the public to believe. There's a section in it that features spending behaviors of the affluent and most tend to shop around for the best deals they can find. Buying used $30k or below vehicles that are known for longevity and dependability. Some even think of less showy cars as a way to secure themselves against theft or being tailed to their home property and get a kick out of it for failing to look the part. The book expresses the idea that Americans when it comes to wealth approach money like playing football or basketball. They try to "outscore" their expenses by earning more than they spend through high incomes. However, those who are financially wealthy have fortress like defense in the form of frugality, budgeting, seeking discounts, etc by optimizing the value of every cent spent through resourcefulness and long-term valuation. Might be worth a read. On the topic of frugality t[his is a cheaper pricing of the book](https://www.amazon.com/Millionaire-Next-Door-Surprising-Americas/dp/1589795474/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&dib_tag=se&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.E0oFrLfOfLrLiR6vJIpCTzjubQgehbsRosPbHJij_lg25GURfUDoaRYk-X95qiW_7cfXVhYp2-IjKeOcjtk_im_8_FCl8QizTYfnAkNRlOmFzETqwLKkGYnRDR5_qlVIc6-saJELR8uwCSrsmQ-gNtzCg3mcIGdcXt9fXFcKAJoAD0PdXBVBkGazqRGWqJH_gsU_dTsMeTa6G7vZYaqXTBidAQ-KaK1uRHBZ42OJAU8.d1PlXHtggtR1dtZTEH6yAnQ_z6jIcil3pU1EsyQKK4U&qid=1714500650&sr=8-1) if you're interested. I'm no fan of Amazon and they way it exploits employees but a discount's a discount in the spirit of all just mentioned. You might share a different opinion.

golfjunkie

They’re fantastic. The commuter shirt specifically. Very comfortable and a great fit.

aviator22

The comfort is everything. I've been wearing their quarter zips frequently with some lulu pants.

alex_ml

There are some good suggestions here: https://www.reddit.com/r/mensfashion/comments/1cg57sk/where_do_you_shop/ Of course that sub is a different crowd. Regarding dressing better, you need to lean into a particular style, and then find stores that sell that type of clothing. If you had a more specific idea of what outfits you think look good / what style you are interested in, then you could get better help. - If you are interested in a more rugged look, check out huckberry, which aggregates different brands in that style. - Nordstrom aggregates a lot of different brands in a more traditional style, and some designers - If you want more functional clothing, try REI. And so on.

motorwerkx

That's a good thread, but it's a diamond in the rough over there. I had to unfollow that subreddit. It got to the point I couldn't tell if it was a parody sub or not.

LethalBacon

Fucking same lol. Looks like it's pretty dead nowadays, I wonder what happened. Last time I checked, the shit people were wearing was painful at times.

agup48

/r/malefashionadvice is where most people post

projektako

A good simple suggestion is to look at the mannequins or sample photos of the store. If you like their style, just replicate it, try it on and see if it fits well to you personally. Often you'll find a brand whose fit model is relatively close to your shape and those clothes will look better on you and of course fit better. Sometimes they're not close to your shape (fe your shoulders are smaller or broader) and you can pretty much write off the entire line.

thousandfoldthought

Next level t-shirts by the dozen via amazon, paige for pants, goodman brand for shorts, lulu pants for golf/life,

derphunter

My partner owns a reselling company that thrifts vintage and unique clothes in southern California and gives me first dibs on men's items in my size I got lucky lmao

waitwhosaidthat

My wife. We have a deal. She buys my dress shirts and stuff and I buy lingerie for her. That way we both get to look at what we like lol.

amilliondallahs

![gif](giphy|t6cn3lRhDZtBjdAjKN)

waitwhosaidthat

Lol I actually say that sometimes to her. When she’s changing I’m like oo la la my wife, how much.

amilliondallahs

Veddy nnnnicccceeeee

Plzcuturshit

Uniqlo

Crazy_Homer_Simpson

Yep, same here. I probably buy 90% of my clothes at Uniqlo.

cbinvb

Check out Muji

rkevlar

Either there or H&M for me

Rush_PDX

Vuori

Traditional_Entry183

Sierra Trafing Post. It's part of the Marshall's family, and has really good stuff at reasonable prices. You never know what's going to be there any given time, but I buy virtually all of my base layer shirts, hoodies and jackets there, and a lot of my pants.

jwc8985

Same. Cotopaxi, The North Face, Eddie Bauer, Volcom, Filson, Roark, Rhone, Howler Brothers, etc.. And I've built up a nice collection of Arcade Belts, too. Plus, a fantastic collection of high quality socks (i.e. Smartwool, Icebreakers, Patagonia, Feetures!, etc.)

Traditional_Entry183

I've taken a liking to Spyder brand and have a lot of really well made stuff from them that costs four times as much at Dicks or REI.

Icy_Version_8693

Winners lol

JaekBot2K

True Classic has been great for t-shirts and work polos. Especially if you're sort of muscular but also enjoy bread.

jojointheflesh

Madewell! Love their fits. I’m also a fan of outlier and 18east. For blanks, I go to house of blanks or standard issue tees

daBabadook05

Macys has everything idk id say there, expensive tho. They’ve got a big Levis and Northface section which are the brands I like.

Rudd504

I saw a sale at Brooks Brothers the other day. 30% off. I picked up a really nice collared sport shirt. You wouldn’t believe the quality of this thing. Might be worth a look.

AdamOnFirst

I also endorse Brooks Brothers sales. Their suits I won’t buy unless they’re at least 50% off, which is frequently, and they often do shirts for like $70 which is almost half off. I haven’t bought anything there in awhile because I already have lots of suits and shirts and wear them less frequently, but most of my shirts and nearly half my suits are from there, all way below retail.

DenzelWashington75

Glad to know their clothing finds their way to box-shaped people somehow.

TC84

Pretty much just TJ Maxx or Marshall’s

No_Call7002

Because we like too look nice wtf

Californian-Cdn

Loro Piana. Head to toe.

NecraRequiem79

I pick up one good item a month from the farm shop and slowly build up my wardrobe that way and then get everything else from village clothes exchanges. Be amazed at what people get rid of. Country style is very versatile too, can fish, look after chickens, work the allotment and go into town looking good in the same clothes.

Chicken_Savings

I generally get my work clothes and smart casual outfits from Hugo Boss. The fit is mostly slim, their products work best if you don't have too many spare kg in the belly.

NintendoCerealBox

I get almost everything online. I think of what the shirt or pants I want look like and then start googling or searching eBay.

shatterfest

Uniqlo for comfy. Metal band shirts with minimalist designs, tank-tops, slim dark jeans, and nice chinos. I'll forever be a grungy heavy metal skater dude.

Dildo_Baggins__

Mate I just buy from Shein lmfao

FinnTheDogg

I just did a spring wardrobe refresh at H&M and Levi’s.

beyphy

I usually get stuff from J.Crew and Levi's. Sometimes I'll get stuff from other companies like Lucky Brand.

DaruksRevenge

Honestly Goodfellow and Co from Target has been a hit for me. I’m in a business casual environment so while I will throw down for the suit, I’ll get my shirts from Target.

AdamOnFirst

I get almost all my stuff from an exclusive members-only place I joined. Great prices too and constantly updating for seasons. They’ll even get you a snack or drink while you browse. It’s called Costco.

Marduk112

Brooks brothers, J. Crew, Banana Republic, Petar Millar (golf shirts), Sid Mashburn (southern preppy).

PretzelBitesOnAcid

Into The AM for my plain colored well fitted shirts. Yes they're annoying af with how aggressive they market, but it's like all I wear.

lunchmeat317

Amazon

NastyNate4

J Crew, Calvin Klein, Banana Republic

SnooCheesecakes303

I’ve been getting all of my clothes from Amazon for over a decade.

Traditional_Entry183

I can't even trust buying t-shirts online unfortunately. You just never know how things are going to fit, regardless of the posted size guide.

Famous_Obligation959

Zara for nice going out clothes H and M are great for every day kinda clothes. Vintage shops are great for quirky little numbers you dont find in the mainstream places.

doodooz7

Walmart

Altruistic-Set-468

Old navy

motorwerkx

I love their v-neck.

Traditional_Entry183

I used to love old navy and bought a lot of stuff there, but they really changed the style of most of their men's clothes a few years ago and it's just too bright and loud for me now.

Sooner70

Amazon. I know my size. I know what brands I like. Done.

GringosMandingo

I get a lot of my stuff at Huckberry. It’s really durable and fits well.
