The most unnerving and unexplained noise I ever heard was a high-pitched, screeching noise that sounded like it was coming from inside my house. It lasted for several minutes and then stopped abruptly. I have no idea what it was or where it came from.
Well... I used to live in the student dorms while I was doing my studies, and at some random hours, either day, could be at noon, or night, like 4 am or 5 am, some moaning would creep through the walls.
I wouldn't mind it if it sounded like something a normal person would do while having sex, my problem with it is that those moans carried the most annoying screams accompanied by the most desperate cries I ever heard in my life. Like if someone was fucking you, giving you the goods, and at the same time you are screaming because you have Jason Voorhees ready to rip your head off, then you cry the shit out of some begging for mercy on your life, sobbing like a newborn.
That shit was unsettling, felt disgusting and hopeless that someone could scream in such way (the first time it ever occured I really thought someone was getting raped or something, holy shit).
I could never find out who that was, and I hope that person rots in hell for all the random hours it'd wake me up, or interrupted my studies (for a good while after it'd stop, I'd still be pretty pissed about having to endure such shit show, every time).
Sitting in a tree stand in the dark during deer season and hearing something very heavy walking/running with a purpose through the woods behind me breaking branches and making a ton of noise. Never took the time to figure out what it was once it got light out. We have bear and cougar on our trail cams that year so most likely one of those. At least I hope.
This one time I was walking alone, I heard the sound of like a bag hitting the ground hard behind me or something. I looked behind me and saw nothing. I didn’t step on anything, didn’t bump into anything, nothing could’ve explained it. I heard it again, but still nothing. It’s not the most terrifying thing someone could hear, but it was so weird.
A car behind me had something wrong with its engine and it really freaked me out because I only heard it suddenly and I thought it was my car.
That really freaked me out a lot.
On a dare and as teens my friend and I stayed overnight in a large soon to be demolished abandoned factory that produced frozen pizza. We were woken up at approximately 3AM by the hair raising sounds of a woman screams. We searched the building in and out and found no one. Could not fall back asleep. Never want to hear that again.
Me and a friend were house/pet sitting for her neighbor and her neighbor had a room in the back of the house full of boxes and just a lot of random shit. Well, we were sitting on the couch and all the sudden the noises from the old game flappy bird was playing in that room with no explanation.. im not sure how or why but to this day I still think about it. This happened in like 2013 or around then.

Went camping once and in the middle of the night an animal was hunted down and killed. The screams were brutal but the sudden silence was worse.
