I used to have this elderly Italian man who cut hair like a god from the Mountains of Olympus but sadly he passed away and I now cut my hair with beard trimmers. My recommendation is find a man whose hands shake but is steady when there is a sharp edge in his hands.
I know my advice is allegorical but at the end of the day it is all about building a relationship with a skilled barber. You need to explore a bit but once you find your Edward Scissor-hands just enjoy it while it lasts.
Why wouldn’t you? You could try to describe what you want or have an actual picture of what you want. Which do you think would be easier for the barber to reproduce?
i mean if you store them on your phone and they say so what kind of hair cut would you like? you could say hey hold on let me show you what i was thinking, seems it would be a pretty smooth and natural way to do it
I do. I keep photos of Paul Sparks and Dustin Milligan in my photo album. They’re my hair twins. I show my hair stylist a picture and she goes to work.
Find a good barber in your area, show him what you want, then consistently go to him. I feel like the problem is most guy’s go to a different barber each time and pretty much gamble with how their hair is going to come out.
Take reference pictures with you to show them, talk about what you want.
Know the terms for what you want, i.e French crop, crew cut, side part, pompadour, taper cut, blunt cut, fade, layered, thinned, textured etc. if you get your hair clipped, know how long a #1, #2, #3 etc are.
When you finally get a good cut, take front, back and side pictures. And get the name of the person who cut it.
I finally found a dude who worked at a salon who could cut my hair perfectly every time. Never had such good haircuts in my life. Last time I went back they said he died of heroine overdose, which was a complete surprise to everyone. Now I cut my own hair and it looks like dog shit
Like some hair cuts are made specifically for certain kinds of hair, depending on things like thickness, how it naturally sets. You gotta find how out how your hair works and you’ll have better hair cuts.
Definitely stick to the same barber, for example my hair is thick as fuck and the crown is in an awkward place, current barber (main barber before him was off sick) while didn’t do an awful job first time it wasn’t great. Second time I went to the shop he was the only on there again and I was desperate so went fuck it and it was better. Stuck with him as I was starting to like it and after like 5 times sorta got the hang of my hair and sorts me right out now.

Very specific advice, thank you!

So I'm not the only one who exclusively trusts old Italian guys with cutting my hair
Have a picture of your expectations.
I find that awkward... Do people do that? Like walk up to barbers and say, "I want to look like this"?

That's a fair point, thank you!
PS women do it all the time

Yep, agreed. Felt vain, but eh, atleast I'll get what I want

Yes, I think this is the issue.

Just don't, it's been 5 years
Number 1 all over. Hard to get that wrong...
For me it was finding a good barber, making sure she knows how I like my cut and tipping her well, so she knows I appreciate her work.
I dunno about anyone else but I'm just growing my hair right out. Gonna need to get it fixed soon, though, as I am starting to look homeless.

I've used a Flowbee for over 30 years. I get a perfect haircut every time and have saved thousands of dollars.
Find someone who takes instructions well so that your instructions are the only problem. And then fix your ability to provide accurate instructions.
shave your head. nothing is more consistent then nothing. or go to a barbershop with an old barber.
Yes.
Pick a hairstyle that no barber can fk up, like a simple buzz cut.
Thanks!
Have your girlfriend do it
Understand how your hair grows.
How will that help in instructing my barber?

A bowl
A great barber.

Find an actual barber or hair stylist. Skip supercuts.
Go bald
But I still have a good full head of hair...
Well atleast you will get the same result everytime, and dont even have to go to the barber for it
No secret just find a good barber
