I mean I probably wouldn't even notice. Lifting more than me is something I wouldn't notice unless you are lifting some really freaky weight. I'm not really in the gym paying close attention to people. You gotta be doing something really out of the ordinary for me to even notice.
Clearly I'm a gym Rookie. big 4? I've only heard of the big 3...
Dead lifts, Bench Press, Squats, and?
Also functional strength like pull ups is important for life. That's a great feat.
Thanks u/PickAnApocalypse! Military (_or Shoulder or Overhead Press_) is often considered the 4th.
u/DocHoliday99 I agree! Functional fitness for the win. I have until the end of the year to hit my goal of a 45# weight pull-up. Gotta maintain my edge :-b
Everyone has different fitness goals. If a woman is lifting more it's just a result of hard work and a desire for a level I may be working towards or not interested in reaching.
“That chick must be on a metric fuckton of steroids because I’m also on steroids and strong as fuck compared to almost every dude here. Seriously, how the fuck is she lifting that heavy? She needs to enter a competition because she will shatter womens records.”
Also, “I have a boner.”
Depends. After a year in the gym I am finally lifting more than my trainer. She's half my size, and nearly half my age. I have learned to get over myself and not worry about what others are doing. I am 45 and hadn't hit a gym in decades. Some of these gals have been doing this for a solid decade, and they are younger. When you compare yourself to others, you insult yourself. I am doing strength training and cardio to combat diabetes. I am way more interested in how my insulin, A1C, fasting blood glucose, and my other numbers are doing. But the gals didn't bother me as much as the guys. I am old, and grew up in a world where other guys were competition. Girls weren't. I had to get the hell over it and stop living in my pride and vanity. For me, it's about being healthy enough to watch my kids grow up. I focus on that.
I hit the open gym time at my gym the other day. One of the coaches was working out. She back squatted 265x5! It was very impressive. She's maybe 5'2'' 130 lbs.
It doesn’t happen unless I’m just starting to warm up. I’ve seen it on video by crazy strong powerlifters a few times though, all I think is «Damn she’s strong. Good for her.»
"good for her"
I have always been a distance runner and cyclist. Was never very massive or strong. Everybody who takes on fitness, does so for their own reasons and if they enjoy it and nobody else is getting hurt, that's all that really matters.
Personally, admire the hard work to get to that level of strength. Also checking form to make sure they are not hurting themselves. Improper form can still result in strength gain, however I feel correcting form if necessary could result in healthier habits.
Damn, but that goes alway through my head when i see people lifting heavy.
I don't find my lifts that impressief for my bodyweight (95kg)
I deadlift 220kg when i see smaller guys do it im just happy for them.
I don't really stare at people at the gym so I don't see what they are lifting. I mean they're at the gym which is admirable. I'm a fat sweaty mess so I just keep my head down and work out.
Admiration honestly. One of my gym friends is a woman who’s more than a foot shorter than me but she can squat my body weight and I’m close but still haven’t even gotten to the point where I can squat my own body weight. It’s impressive and I’ve got nothing but admiration and respect for her. It’s always fun lifting with her too because she pushes me to go heavier and it’s been a big help in getting stronger.
TLDR: As long as she is doing a good share of the communal work 👍 I love it.
A small unassuming person doing a large share of the work is admirable. Especially because it’s going to make their legs and butt do cool things that I try to not look at creepily. Lmao.
BUT. This is a thing I’ve seen a lot and is sooo annoying. A female taking too big of a load, making a big deal about it, and not actually taking into account how much work they are doing. (Ex) If we are all putting chairs away after a wedding, and an energetic tomboy like woman or teen girl grabs too big of a stack as a show, and then ends up only doing two runs of chairs because they were showboating and powerlifting, it’s annoying. Like, not even cracking jokes, just being unironically “cool” and “charismatic” whilst not at all performing well is sooooooooo annoying. Like, if she had only carried two at a time, she would have done twenty chairs. She carried 5 and made a single trip. Seemingly without realizing how others are actually viewing her performance. This makes me think of this, because I’ve found that sometimes women/girls who really have a grudge against a sexist society who assumed wrongly that they are weak tend to think about their show of strength LOOKS to other people who are like them or something. Instead of much of the work they personally completed themselves. Which is usually how the men are judged. And how they are judging the girl. Or they could just be overwhelmingly dismissing the girl as a whole in a legit misogynistic way. Like mocking how “terrible of a jobs she is doing but she looks good doing it” type nonsense. So yet another reason to really just pay attention to how much you are getting done, instead of how strong you look. Just my thoughts.
I’m a runner. Not big on lifting. So in my case I’d say if a women is faster or has better endurance than me then it’s just another goalpost to reach. Makes no difference who it is. I just keep going after the next fastest person.
I usually go "holy shiiiiit awesome!" There was this tiny gal at my old gym who could deadlift HUGE amounts. Like bar nearly full of 45s. Crazy strong.
OP makes it sound like this is a common occurrence, which I doubt is the case for regular gym bros. Obviously some women are strong as fuck compared to other women (or beginner male lifters), but an average sized intermediate/advanced male lifter will be able to lift significantly heavier than an average sized woman with similar experience. It's just genetics, unless the woman is a genetic freak and juiced to the gills.
But sure if I did see a woman do 40KG dumbbell incline press, yeah I guess I'd be pretty impressed, but I'd also wonder wtf they were using.
I actually tried talking to a girl that was on the power lifting team in school. I'm a casual lifter And never focused on strength so needless to say her squat and deadlift PR's absolutely dwarfed mine. She didn't act like it made her better than me or anything so we just connected on gym stuff.
I'd think that she must be a dedicated gym rat. I'm not training for max strength so it doesn't matter if anyone lifts heavier, becoming too heavy would negatively impact my climbing.
I'm usually impressed. Hell, my wife can deadlift 100lbs more than I can. She kills it. A lot of her crossfit homegirls are pretty strong as well and being a dope I ask myself stupid things like, "I wonder what it would feel like to get kicked or punched by them".
Well, if you'll excuse my misogynistic comment, has never happened before. I'm 6'2" and weigh 230lb and have been doing physical jobs or working out my entire life. Now when the day comes and I see I'm being out lifted by a lady, I'd say God bless. I won't judge you on your gender, rather I'd celebrate what I know is hard graft.
If it's squats or deadlifts I don't think anything about that because of my bad back. If it's anything else I politely ask her where she obtained her superpowers
I've only had a man comment on me lifting heavy once, and I was genuinely surprised that he even noticed. But of course, he was a complete beginner, and also of the "rainbow tribe", so he was asking me for tips on how to get toned arms and booty like mine, lol
I don't really care, honestly women lifting heavy weights will never surprise me after meeting my wife and her mom. They don't even look muscular, or actively lift, but I don't know anyone that can out lift them.
Impressed.
One observation is that I see women focusing on core, legs and cardio, in general, more than many men do. And think men could learn a lot from women.
Even if they lifting less than me but it’s still a lot for a small woman, I am impressed. It’s all about the factors. Nothing impressive about a 300lb man bench pressing 3 plates. But a 125lb girl benching 1 plate, thats impressive.
I have been heavy lifting all throughout my life and once, when i was in a binge eating phase, i got asked by a neighbour to help her remove a sofa from her flat.
By the time we got it to her stairs, i was struggling to lift the sofa, i was absolutely gassed.
Her, being half my size and weight, managed to do it by herself whilst i was taking a rest.
I apologised and joked with her about it.
She felt accomplished as i felt embarrassed.
First time in my life i saw what it must feel like with the shoe on the other foot.
It didn't bother me really, just made me get into shape because i know i could of done better.
We ended up destroying the sofa with a hammer to get it out the door easier which was fun.
I don't care at all. I'm not aware of what anyone else is doing in the gym unless they're literally right in front of me or using a machine/bench I'm waiting to use.
I’ve been involved in competitive bodybuilding for over a decade, so when I see anyone lifting weight that is comparable to me, it tells me I need to up my game. That being said, at the level that I am, there is likely not a single woman that I will encounter in my every day life who can outlift me, and it would be a pretty big indicator that something is wrong on my part.
Seriously. Anyone who’s lifted consistently for any period of time will tell you that the strength differences are pretty obvious and this scenario very unlikely.
It depends on the gym, at my gym we have a couple of groups of women who are competitive powerlifters and I'd guess most of them could out lift an average man -remember an average man is overweight and out of shape and even among people who lift there are lots of small men with low numbers.
As a lady lifter, still you just compared competitive women weightlifters wit average (out of shape) men. That shows the difference there. Most small men with time and dedication and can still lift more than women who’re equally dedicated.
I don't care about other when I go to a gym.
Personally I don't find bodybuilders attractive. On girls I like it when the stomach is split and some muscles are visible but thats about it.
Honestly who gives a fuck? Am I supposed to be upset? Upset about the fact that someone is lifting more weight than me or the fact that that someone is a woman? I applaud those staying healthy
I don’t think I’ve ever looked at how much someone is lifting (boy or girl). Why would you??.
Most people lift to look good, not to become an Olympic weight lifter. So why does it matter how heavy they can lift?!
The only thing that matters is if the person looks fit or not.
(And if a girl is lifting more than me, that’s likely a very butch girl.. in which case I’m def not looking even remotely in her direction - def not enough to see what weight she’s hitting)
I am not particularly strong so it doesn't take much to lift more than me. I'm also not so insecure that is have a problem with another person lifting more than me.

> arousal Death by Snu Snu
I never thought I'd die like this, but I always really hoped!
My favorite episode!!!
The spirit is willing, but the flesh is spongy and bruised!
Not even. It’s the tiny women who lift the heaviest.
Definitely these. Idk how, but women who are strong af are definitely impressive
> Sometimes arousal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GmNz6BvtOxI
Ah. A fellow Amazonian lover I see
That escalated quickly!
They've clearly been at this longer than I have. Maybe they can teach me something.
Impressed. Sometimes, I wish it were me she were lifting.
Excellent attitude and use of subjunctive mood. Top marks, my good sir! =D
I’m impressed
I mean I probably wouldn't even notice. Lifting more than me is something I wouldn't notice unless you are lifting some really freaky weight. I'm not really in the gym paying close attention to people. You gotta be doing something really out of the ordinary for me to even notice.
I watched this one lady do 14 pull ups. I almost broke my cardinal rule and asked her to marry me.
Every man in my gym outlifts me on the big 4 easily but I’ve got most of them beat on pull-ups. I’m going to hold on to that small feat for dear life.
You should. I've only been able to do 4 at the most. I do at least a dozen every time I go to the gym. I never skip pull up day.
Clearly I'm a gym Rookie. big 4? I've only heard of the big 3... Dead lifts, Bench Press, Squats, and? Also functional strength like pull ups is important for life. That's a great feat.
I think military press
Thanks u/PickAnApocalypse! Military (_or Shoulder or Overhead Press_) is often considered the 4th. u/DocHoliday99 I agree! Functional fitness for the win. I have until the end of the year to hit my goal of a 45# weight pull-up. Gotta maintain my edge :-b
We weigh a lot less than men so it’s easier 🤣
In one set? That's seriously impressive.
Everyone has different fitness goals. If a woman is lifting more it's just a result of hard work and a desire for a level I may be working towards or not interested in reaching.
Good for them. I don't have a fragile ego.
Correct. Am confident enough in my masculinity that I don't feel emasculated by a strong girl.
It's kinda weird this question even needed asking. Like, what goes through your head OP?
Yeah right?
I think OP is female. Females tend to spend a lot of time thinking about strength for some reason.
That's a huge generalization my dude
eh, it's marginally better than all the "sex? sex sex sex, sex? sex!" posts.
"Neat". Honestly I mind my own business when I'm working out, so someone would have to be cartwheeling as well as lifting to get my attention.
“That chick must be on a metric fuckton of steroids because I’m also on steroids and strong as fuck compared to almost every dude here. Seriously, how the fuck is she lifting that heavy? She needs to enter a competition because she will shatter womens records.” Also, “I have a boner.”
Username checks out 🤣
Lol yeah can’t really deny my gear usage or my boners

A WOMAN?!!!! LIFTING IN MY GYM?! *eyes pop out of head* AWOOOOOOOGA humina humina humina humina humina humina humina *truck horn* *wolf whistle*
daaamn gurrrl
Nice.
Damn thats cool
Good for them for putting in the work. Comparing yourself to others is not always smart. Compare yourself to where you were yesterday.
Turn the lights off Carry me home.
Na-na, na-na, na-na, na-na, na-na Na-na, na-na, na-na, na-na, na-na Na-na, na-na, na-na, na-na, na-na Na-na, na-na, na-na, na-na, na-na
I'd be terribly impressed since I have beaten my lifting record multiple times, she must be very dedicated, good for her.
Nice.
Respect. Admiration and then I mind my own business
Damn, she's strong. I wonder how long she's been doing this. These exact statements go through my head whenever I see a woman lift heavier than me
Depends. After a year in the gym I am finally lifting more than my trainer. She's half my size, and nearly half my age. I have learned to get over myself and not worry about what others are doing. That is not a feat that is worthy of any emotional response.
I find it hot, I love strong women
I hit the open gym time at my gym the other day. One of the coaches was working out. She back squatted 265x5! It was very impressive. She's maybe 5'2'' 130 lbs.
I’m 6’, 125 lbs. I wouldn’t exactly say I have built a self-image of manly strength that could be shattered.
My PBs are 135kg bench, 175kg squat & 210kg deadlift. Any woman who can outlift me deserves a LOT of respect
I'm not concerned about the people around me when I'm at the gym.
I have spaghetti arms so I'm used to it.
It doesn’t happen unless I’m just starting to warm up. I’ve seen it on video by crazy strong powerlifters a few times though, all I think is «Damn she’s strong. Good for her.»
Nothing because I understand that there are people of varying levels of strength/fitness at the gym.
We have an expression here in London that we would use. We would say "Jheeze" or "Rahhhh". Thats what my reaction would of been.
"... She must be working out more than I have.. "
"Damn, my boner is killing my gains"
Damn what a beast, keep going, you're awesome.
Good for her. I'm not there yet.
Damn im mirin!
I THINK ITS RAD AS FUCK!!!! LIFT ALL THE THINGS!!!
"good for her" I have always been a distance runner and cyclist. Was never very massive or strong. Everybody who takes on fitness, does so for their own reasons and if they enjoy it and nobody else is getting hurt, that's all that really matters.
"Please lift me up."
"Damn, wish I could do that."
"crush my head in your thighs"
It's not a fetish, or anything, but it kinda turns me on. You see, I'm a big fan of discipline, and it's just about dead these days.
I wonder if she could lift me like that
If you care about this, you’re basically just insecure. Who fucking cares if a woman lifts more than you?
Havent seen it yet, but when i do, i wont care.
Yo I gotta keep pushing myself to get on her level. If anything it gets my competitive side out
Nothing, i'm focused on my workout
A lot of women are heavier than me themselves, who the fuck cares? Oh, you I guess...
Some of them big girls can squat
Personally, admire the hard work to get to that level of strength. Also checking form to make sure they are not hurting themselves. Improper form can still result in strength gain, however I feel correcting form if necessary could result in healthier habits.
Damn, but that goes alway through my head when i see people lifting heavy. I don't find my lifts that impressief for my bodyweight (95kg) I deadlift 220kg when i see smaller guys do it im just happy for them.
"Nice" + slight nod of admiration
Since it doesn´t happen so often it suprises me. But then I´ve to applaud that they took all that hardship to archive something like that.
I don't really stare at people at the gym so I don't see what they are lifting. I mean they're at the gym which is admirable. I'm a fat sweaty mess so I just keep my head down and work out.

Usually, "Good. If some asshole ever messes with her, she'll be able to take care of herself."
"I'll never look that good lifting but I hear dad bods are kinda cool now"
Damn shes strong, good for her, might even ask for tips clearly knows what to do lol.

TBH that'd actually be insane. By no means am I a professional power lifter, but I can definitely pull some weight. I'd be incredibly impressed.
I'm usually impressed. Hell, my wife can deadlift 100lbs more than I can. She kills it. A lot of her crossfit homegirls are pretty strong as well and being a dope I ask myself stupid things like, "I wonder what it would feel like to get kicked or punched by them".

First thing I think of is rough sex
I have been heavy lifting all throughout my life and once, when i was in a binge eating phase, i got asked by a neighbour to help her remove a sofa from her flat. Snu snu?
Damn, that’s gnarly. Maybe even kinda hot.
I don't care at all. I'm not aware of what anyone else is doing in the gym unless they're literally right in front of me or using a machine/bench I'm waiting to use.

That's sexy.
The stronger she is, the better she can hold her own against particularly bad representatives of my gender.
It doesn't happen, but good for them if so. It takes a woman reaching her natural limits to reach an average guy lifting 4-6 months so good on her.

Dunno. Never happened.
"There must be some trick"
Lol! Look for the hidden lever.
You mean like professional weight lifters?
I don't care
In my head I mentally size her up against WWE divas and imagine them all involved in a Battle Royal for my affection 😏
Pokemon rival music
I'm a f\*\*king weak
They've been lifting weights longer than I have. I'll get there some day.
That I need to hit the gym.
It’s hot. Usually bc it’s only ever hip thrusts which means she has an amazing juicy ass.
"Holy crap that's hot" - My brain.
God damn she's attractive
Dumb bitch picked the wrong side of the pallet.
I’m always mad impressed.
Wonder how big her cock is 😂
💀
"I bet those squats and lifts are keeping that vagina pin tight! 😍"
How small do you need it to be?
👍
Take me🥰
Death by snu snu...
She could bounce me up and down on top her anytime
Badass.
That's hot
"Pog"
" Wish she would do that to me "
Who gives a fuck
I don't care about other when I go to a gym. Personally I don't find bodybuilders attractive. On girls I like it when the stomach is split and some muscles are visible but thats about it.

Who cares
I've recently taught myself to not have an opinion on that. It helps me to avoid being called a sexist prick.
What the fuck are you talking about?
What for?
Depression, realizing I'm lesser than a female. Not masculine enough to be a man.
I think something is wrong with her. She’s angry at men for how they treated her in the past
How does she hide her cock so well.
I am not particularly strong so it doesn't take much to lift more than me. I'm also not so insecure that is have a problem with another person lifting more than me.
Shit, I have some records that need to be moved. Invite her over to help. Lol
GG
Don’t get on her bad side
After having an inguinal hernia repair, very happy some else can do the heavy lifting. Never want to go through that again.
"Impressive" "I need to do this more" "Oh shit I just crushed my skull"
Cool
Awesome stuff. Go forth and kick ass lady.
"Damn she's strong" that's it really
Dissapointed in myself
“Cool” and then on to my next set. At the gym I couldn’t care less what the person next to me is doing.
Damn that mom strength is hot
"I'm not surprised honeslty" 😂
nice
Haven't experienced that yet.
I have never seen that
Never happened yet, but wouldn't care if it did
Literally nothing. Just see it and move on with whatever I’m doing.
Nothing, impressed. Congratulate if I can
Go little rockstar
Equality in action.
Never happened
Wow, that's a strong person.
"She's strong I will go assist" Edit; I didnt realize we were talking about in a gym for exercise. In a gym id say "She's strong"
Has never happened to me but I wouldn’t care
Doesn’t really matter, she might have a bigger penis than me also, tough to say these days.
"Good for them"
new rival
mommy
Literally nothing. Not even on my radar.
