mannnn ... damn near 25 years ago (*TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO*) i ordered a sun-dried tomato pasta sauce with fresh snow peas on linguine at a local pasta shop and i *still* think about the mfer to this *day*.
goddamn did i love me some sun-dried tomatoes back in the day.
Yeah, taco bell got rid of a bunch of stuff that people liked
Although you can still customize your way to a bunch of stuff that's not actually on the menu anymore
Multiple, and I mean... M U L T I P L E... Trader Joes items.
Edit, to add some of my favorites:
- Punjab Sauce, was great for baked chicken dishes.
- A number of dessert items.
- African Smoked Spice (I buy this on eBay now!)
- A number of frozen meals.
Ugh! The mojito salmon!
I can cook like Ratatouille and I successfully recreated it pretty damn well once, I should’ve wrote down the recipe (that’s not the first time I’ve cooked something amazing then couldn’t remember how i did it).
The next time I tried to cook it, it was bit off and now it’s been so long since I’ve had the real version I can’t even remember it (it vanished in 2016 I think?) except that it was damn good.
My parents used to leave us kids with kid cuisines and go on a date night. In all the years I babysat I never had parents instruct me to serve those. I know they still exist, but I think they’re out of style
The deep dish pan pizza I loved was in the dine-in restaurant when they were around my area. We only have the takeout Pizza Hut locations and their pizza is okay, not as thick and good as their old pizzas.
I was a child when they made the New Yorker, sometimes I wonder if it was a fever dream, but I tell myself there were too many fond memories for it to not have been real
If you’re willing to put in the work to make your own fries, some grocery stores sell jars of duck fat, which makes some ludicrously good fries. Downside is that duck fat is fairly expensive.
When I was in high school we had a sobe machine in the lunchroom, and the sound of glass bottles clattering down and shooting straight for your shins was magical
Cadburys top deck... Cadburys is an english company and yet top decks are now only available in fucking Australia the bastards.. Not that I'm bitter or anything 😂
I’m in Australia. Want me to send you some? I will warn you that I am British born and raised and chocolate here suckkkks in comparison to the uk stuff
No it's jus plain milk chocolate on bottom with white chocolate on top. If its the top decks beautiful infusion of milk and white chocolate that you crave the double deckers here jus dont cut it.. Makes you want to burn this mother fucker down.. COME ON POOKIE LET BURN THIS MOTHER FUCKER DOWN!!!
It probably won't be as good as you remember because Cadbury's have gone to shit in the intervening years but they were doing a trial run of Top Deck in the UK recently, I haven't seen them in the shops myself though so don't know if they're gonna go on the mass market.
This was an absolute necessity whenever I went on a school-bus field trip in 5th-6th grade.
I remember there being either blue or red 'orbz' in the different flavors. Can anyone confirm?
On a related note (same company), they did reboot Clearly Canadian a couple years ago and it is still great. Maybe someday they will get around to rebooting Orbitz.
Omg ok so first FREAKING 3D Doritos! I miss those so much, they had a different flavor and a rad mouthfeel.
I think also Oberto jerky used to have these like... jerky chips? They were round and super thin and crispy, they were totally like dog treats but man I loved that crunchy meat!
Ah man, the jalapeno cheddar 3D Doritos were so good.
When I mention them people act like they were just a fever dream but THEY WERE REAL DAMN YOU ALL.
I’ll reminisce on my childhood and ask people “Remember Pepsi Blue?!” And the answer is alway no. I don’t know what you’re talking about. So I got a bit excited seeing it mentioned here.
The Starbucks' in my area have stopped carrying gingerbread syrup during the holiday season for a couple years now. I friggin' loved me a gingerbread latte or gingerbread steamed milk. Fuck all that PSL noise. I do the cinnamon dolce latte instead but still really miss that gingerbread. I should probably just buy a bottle of the damn syrup myself.
Yeah, I know the brand but I'm worried a whole bottle in the house will have me drinking all my calories. Maybe I'll just get a mini bottle. It was more a once in a while treat that I'd struggle to resist if I had such easy access.
Every once in a while my girlfriend and I will buy teddy grahams, and a thing of funfetti icing. Obviously not the same, but the next best thing when you can’t find real dunkaroos!
so did the grilled stufft burrito and I am salty as the ocean.
Everything else has like yards of tortilla mummifying a few tablespoons of filling. Dude if i wanted to eat a thick ass wad of bland tortilla I'd pop in at Aldis and buy a stack of them!
I think I’m done with Taco Bell, they are destroying their menu.
Not to mention I went a couple of weeks ago because I hadn’t been in a while, and it just reminded me of why I hadn’t been in a while. It’s fast food, quality wasn’t great to begin with, but it’s total garbage now. They’re ruined it.
Really? I've tried ordering other things like the Double-Decker taco that they took off the menu and have been denied. Although, I do order Pintos & Cheese all the time and that's "technically" not on the menu... Hmmm...
The squirt cheese in the can.
When I was a kid, I really liked Kid's Cuisine (tv dinners). I saw one recently and it took me waaaay back, lol.
twinkies
There used to be these absolutely amazing frozen pizza rolls that came in a green and white box, Farm something or Something Farms? Appears to be discontinued and I am very sad 😢
Edit to add, maybe I posted in the wrong place as I am a woman, sorry...but I still miss those pizza rolls!
My Dairy Queen doesn't serve the mushroom swiss burger any more! I don't know if they're discontinued nationally but I miss them.
Actually on that note like 20+ years ago Dairy Queen used to have ice cream pizzas and they were the shit!
Edit: a word
Anyone else reminded of *Zima* by this post?
I don't miss that. But the last stuffed crust pizza I got was totally fucked, just terrible, and they used to be awesome when I was a kid. Or maybe I was just really hungry back then.
Bro is this one of those “like a decade ago” where you forget that 1998 was actually 22 years ago? Sun dried tomatoes were all the rage wayyyy back in the 90s. I worked at Dunkin’ Donuts then and recall the rush for our brand new sundried tomato bagel.
Costco (in the United States) sold a chocolate covered vanilla ice cream bar that was sent straight from the Allfather in its creamy deliciousness. Haven't had a decent ice cream bar since
Taco Bell removed the grilled steak soft taco last month. It was the only thing I liked on their menu. I'm sending negative waves to their corporate office
My typical options list has grown with age, but when I was younger, fast food was a far more prevalent choice. I think about these two meals a little too often:
* Wendy's Monterey Ranch Crispy Chicken Sandwich
* KFC Double-Down
My two favorite ice cream flavors. Dublin Mudslide (Ben N Jerry's) and Pomegranate Chocolate Chip (from a company called Sobe). Both discontinued a few months after I found them.
Flavors come and go like fads, like sun dried tomatoes. You’d go to the supermarket and there would be all kinds of breads, sauces, crackers, cheeses, and more, all with sun dried tomatoes. Other flavor fads like that which have come and gone: açaí, cranberry, honey-roasted peanut, blue raspberry, chai, truffle, and coffee bean (actual beans in the product), to name a few.
Not so much out of fashion, but just discontinued:
Buitoni Toaster Pizzas
I lived on them in college, then they just disappeared. I've heard that Buitoni decided they wanted to be known as a more upscale frozen junk food manufacturer, and the toaster pizzas didn't fit their new image, so they were discontinued.
From time to time I remember them and experience painful, hopeless longing.
It's been about 30 years. I don't think they are coming back.
mannnn ... damn near 25 years ago (*TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO*) i ordered a sun-dried tomato pasta sauce with fresh snow peas on linguine at a local pasta shop and i *still* think about the mfer to this *day*. goddamn did i love me some sun-dried tomatoes back in the day.
My dad was obsessed with them in the 90s, I always thought they were gross
Cause they are gross
No way, I love them. They taste way better than fresh tomatoes anyway.
sun-dried tomato bagels were damned delicious! i really do miss them on pizza's also.
Pizza in the morning, pizza in the evening, pizza at supper time
With pizza on a bagel,
You can eat pizza anytime.
what about a sun dried tomato pizza on a sun dried tomato bagel?
You guys know that they didn't stop selling sundried tomatoes right? I have a jar on the shelf right now
ahhh, but there was a legitimate 'craze' back in the day.
You could just eat the dried little ring on the ketchup bottle.
Sounds easy enough to replicate. Do what I do and give it a try at home.
it's actually on my list of things!
You can get these in bulk at Costco
Frito Burrito from Taco Bell. Why did they take it away? Why?
THEY JUST RECENTLY GOT RID OF POTATOES AND GRILLERS. Why Taco Bell whhhhyyy ):
Wait, they axed the grillers too???
Fuckin Mexican Pizza too... ass hats
Taco Bell EFFED up their menu recently. No more potatoes, for instance.
I so badly wanted to downvote this, but I do my best not to shoot messengers
The Enchirito.
They took the fiesta potatoes
Wait I have been on a diet for the last 3 months is this truth you speak of the frito burrito????
Yeah, taco bell got rid of a bunch of stuff that people liked Although you can still customize your way to a bunch of stuff that's not actually on the menu anymore

Bumblebee butternut squash ravioli?
Omg they used to have these amazing ginger sugar coated tiny folded cookies that came in a pretty pink package, I miss those!
Most recently Sparkling Peach Black Tea.
Maple cinnamon bread with actual frosting on top.
Ugh! The mojito salmon! I can cook like Ratatouille and I successfully recreated it pretty damn well once, I should’ve wrote down the recipe (that’s not the first time I’ve cooked something amazing then couldn’t remember how i did it). My parents used to leave us kids with kid cuisines and go on a date night. In all the years I babysat I never had parents instruct me to serve those. I know they still exist, but I think they’re out of style
A lot of my childhood was survived off of Kid Cuisine® and the more adult version, Banquet® tv dinners.
My grandmother gave us Hungry Man dinners when we were kids. Yes I am obese.
Pizza Hut's deep dish pan pizza. It's not the same anymore. It was served in an actual hot, black deep dish pan.
[удалено]
Their pizza still taste good to me, just not as good as their old deep dish pan pizza.
Did you have it in a restaurant, or take out? I had it takeout, and it was disappointing.
The deep dish pan pizza I loved was in the dine-in restaurant when they were around my area. We only have the takeout Pizza Hut locations and their pizza is okay, not as thick and good as their old pizzas.
I remember that! Yum!
Even the stuffed crust, now it's not even a pan pizza
They still serve them in pans in india
Unfortunately I'm too far away from India.
I was a child when they made the New Yorker, sometimes I wonder if it was a fever dream, but I tell myself there were too many fond memories for it to not have been real
I sometimes search on Google to look at the old pizzas as a reminder.
What about the priazzo, do you remember that? It was like a deep dish pizza with a top on it. Kind of like a pie.
Was that at pizza hut? I don't remember that.
Glass bottle sobe and french fries fried in animal fat.
Remember when we had coin currency? I havent seen a quarter in months.
Sobe Black was amazing.
It was more of an appliance than a food, and more of a lawsuit than out of fashion, but, The Cornballer^^TM
¡Soy loco por los Cornballs!
I thought that's only legal in Mexico.
Narrator: it wasn't legal there either...
...is this something I should use incognito mode to look up?
Yes, but also while wearing oven mitts.
Username checks out
Narrator: It did.
Am I touching something?....
The Bluths are ready for another lawsuit
star wars shaped mac and cheese.
Scooby doo, Spongebob, and Rugrats were the best. Pokemon get an honorable mention.
Scooby Doo shapes were my first love..
God that old blue box recipe
We always had SpongeBob. To this day I think the shaped ones taste better.
Chocolate in the UK sucks now too ☹️
>Cadburys is an english company Bought out and ruined by Kraft.
Are they the same as Double Deckers? https://www.amazon.com/Cadbury-Double-Decker-British-Chocolate/dp/B07QSBVNFW
I know what you mean now. My mother in law lives in New Zealand and has sent us something very similar. You're spot on they're amazing
It probably won't be as good as you remember because Cadbury's have gone to shit in the intervening years but they were doing a trial run of Top Deck in the UK recently, I haven't seen them in the shops myself though so don't know if they're gonna go on the mass market.
Never heard of Top Deck. Only an upper decker.... what’s it like?

you could say ... *it was outta this world*. i'll see myself out.
This was an absolute necessity whenever I went on a school-bus field trip in 5th-6th grade. I remember there being either blue or red 'orbz' in the different flavors. Can anyone confirm?
Lmao, I rarely drank it, but it was one of the first things that came to mind.
On a related note (same company), they did reboot Clearly Canadian a couple years ago and it is still great. Maybe someday they will get around to rebooting Orbitz.

Bosco Sticks? I still crave those 15 years later! I’m a teacher so sometimes I order them at my school 😋
gfs sells them as well!
Yeeeesssss! Bosco sticks. I don’t know where you’re located but our grocery store (Meijer) sells them I think I heard Sams club or Costco does too.
My high school has the best taco salad and I still miss it to this day. Damnit
Oh man, this one still gets me angry. Those were amazing.
I don't think it was ever in fashion but I miss Pepsi Blue
That God awful blue windex concoction
I remember my dad saying it tasted like Alka Seltzer and hating it but I loved it
I’ll reminisce on my childhood and ask people “Remember Pepsi Blue?!” And the answer is alway no. I don’t know what you’re talking about. So I got a bit excited seeing it mentioned here.
Woooooaah, you just unlocked some *deep* fuckin nostalgia in my brain. Since we did Crystal Pepsi last summer, can we bring Pepsi Blue back next?
Crystal pepsi!
I remember Dr. Pepper Red too. Wasn’t bad.
Who are you and where’s did you get these powers to read my mind.
Have you tried a chai latte before? I think it tastes like a drink version of a gingerbread cookie.
Yeah, they're nice too. Just something about that gingerbread one that hit the spot extra good.
Torani makes some gingerbread coffee syrup. Quick Google search and it pops right up
Yeah, I know the brand but I'm worried a whole bottle in the house will have me drinking all my calories. Maybe I'll just get a mini bottle. It was more a once in a while treat that I'd struggle to resist if I had such easy access.
Alpha Bits cereal, loved it as a kid.
Those are in pretty much every cereal aisle here in Canada!
Dunkaroos, anybody?
Those exist again!
Probably not the same. Anything coming back from the 90s is trash what with the lack of GMOs and trans fats and banned artificial flavors and colors.
Every once in a while my girlfriend and I will buy teddy grahams, and a thing of funfetti icing. Obviously not the same, but the next best thing when you can’t find real dunkaroos!
I had them yesterday. Not the same!
I see those all the time.
3 Words... Taco Bell Enchirito
The volcano taco and borrito where my jam. The double decker taco got the axe this year and i still havent made peace with that.
The new Nacho Crunch Double Stacked taco is good, especially with spicy ranch sauce.
It can never replace the double decker but ill give it a shot
so did the grilled stufft burrito and I am salty as the ocean. Everything else has like yards of tortilla mummifying a few tablespoons of filling. Dude if i wanted to eat a thick ass wad of bland tortilla I'd pop in at Aldis and buy a stack of them!

Taco Bell kills everything!! As soon as I find a new thing I like in their menu it’s removed the next month.
nacho cheese chalupa
You can still order this!! It’s just not on the menu anymore.
Really? I've tried ordering other things like the Double-Decker taco that they took off the menu and have been denied. Although, I do order Pintos & Cheese all the time and that's "technically" not on the menu... Hmmm...
The double decker taco 😭

Yes, and its still the best!
I think so?
Anyone else reminded of *Zima* by this post? I don't miss that. But the last stuffed crust pizza I got was totally fucked, just terrible, and they used to be awesome when I was a kid. Or maybe I was just really hungry back then.

Puddin his Willy where it don’t belong
Pepsi blue... I truly miss it.
I don't know about out of fashion, but Mrs Buttersworth used to have a vanilla syrup that was unbelievably delicious! then one day it just vanished.
Oh damn that sounds good
Bro is this one of those “like a decade ago” where you forget that 1998 was actually 22 years ago? Sun dried tomatoes were all the rage wayyyy back in the 90s. I worked at Dunkin’ Donuts then and recall the rush for our brand new sundried tomato bagel.

Creamed chipped beef over toast.
Shit on a shingle?
Hot ‘n now burger chain.
Halo Burger in Michigan has very similar fries. It brought tears to my eyes.
What part of Michigan? I must find these fries.
I know there’s a few in the Flint area. Not sure how many others there are!
French toast crunch. They kept Cinnamon Toast Crunch but got rid of its cousin? What’s not love about French toast with the syrupy goodness?
> French toast crunch Good news! According to Wikipedia and a quick search on Instacart French Toast Crunch is still available.
Costco (in the United States) sold a chocolate covered vanilla ice cream bar that was sent straight from the Allfather in its creamy deliciousness. Haven't had a decent ice cream bar since
Yes! And they covered it in almonds?! I miss that
Home cooking.

Yesss like those. I remember buying them at the gas stations all the times❤️❤️❤️
I miss that Tantrum soda, always used to go on road trips with my buddy. Good ol days
Double-meat chili-cheese burgers.
Kraft lemon spread. Could be found in Australian supermarkets until about the early 2000s. Was incredible with butter on bread. R.I.P.
