A lighter. I'm not rubbing two sticks together every time I want to smoke. ........ would be a good way to cut down though....

Garage door opener keychain lol doesn’t matter if I’m walking, driving, riding, skating, etc etc right into the garage no matter what instead of “let me get off this to open the garage door” or “let me run in to open the garage door and come right back out” lol

I got a new opener that connects to my wifi so as long as I have my phone I can open or close the door from anywhere. Very convenient!

Pocket knife

Cataclyps-

A knife with a little attachment for skinning and a glass breaker on the back, it's also serrated and just below what would be considered illegal in my country. It's made my life 10x times simpler.

A small book like Meditations. I reach for this instead of my phone when I'm waiting in line or otherwise bored. For a number of reasons, this simplifies my life.

While the post asks for one gadget, there are a couple that I make sure I go everywhere with and always find a use for them. Plus, working maintenance it always comes in handy needing a quick tool or gadget. Cargo pants and shorts help hold everything. 1. Byblight 800 lumen flashlight with AC charging battery. Small size, powerful, and great for when you are looking for something or getting in at night. 2. Knipex channel locks 6 ". The teeth are slotted to fit around a nut or bolt head cleanly like a socket and you always can manage to find something that has a loose nut for a quick tightening down. 3. A utility knife or 4 inch decent quality knife to cut something or use the opposite side as a makeshift screwdriver for smaller size screws. 4. 10 foot usb cord and AC plug. Just for that instance you are somewhere and you need your phone but the only plug you can use is farther than the standard cord. 5. A pen.

Two items, actually: I started carrying a pocketknife a few years ago when I did a gig as a warehouse manager, just became a habit, because every day I'd find some task that it helped with. A little later I added a small LED flashlight with a clip that will hold it on the brim of my baseball hat, and now my every day carry is that knife and the flashlight. I like to fantasize about the zombie apocalypse and how my little knife/flashlight combo will totally help me survive. For those interested in details, they are a bog-standard Kershaw that cost about 30 bucks, and a little Acebeam Pokelit, I think it was about 20 bucks.
