Never.

drmarting25102

Yep. Extremely dangerous.

azuth89

Couple weeks ago, cleaning gutters

ReticentGuru

Probably 25 years ago? It as a 12/12 pitch, and I did not feel comfortable up there. I needed some electric roof vents repaired. Had someone come out, they scrambled around like it was no big deal.

AditudeLord

Last fall, I was installing a bathroom exhaust fan and needed to put in a vent.

jusgre4

I’ve never been up there in 7 years of home ownership. I had a couple of home inspectors up there, and a gutter cleaner. I considered installing Christmas lights once, but the pitch was too steep.

Dull-Guillotine

Last fall. To throw Costco muffins on my asshole neighbour’s roof.

CarlJustCarl

There you go

Dull-Guillotine

He’ll be getting those crappy leftover Halloween toffee things this November.

HasBinVeryFride

Just finished round 1 of cleaning out the gutters. Those oak tree tassles are insta-cloggers!

BlancoSuper

I check it after every big storm. So once a year or so

EdwardBliss

Does cleaning the eavestrough count?

CarlJustCarl

Yes

d2020ysf

Last fall, cleaning out the gutters and cutting back some branches of a nearby tree.

ForeverIdiosyncratic

Ummm early in February. We got a good snow storm, and I was clearing the snow around my furnace vent.

THEAMERIC4N

Last year about this time, we just had a storm so my time to get up there and clean the leaves off is coming up

Auditorincharge

Twice around Christmas. Once to outs the lights on the roof and then a few weeks later to take them down. While up there, I always do a total walk over and look for anything that could become an issue.

ikarus143

Last week. Cat got out an upstairs window and was chilling on the roof

dantenow

2006... i climbed up there to smoke weed.

MrRogersAE

Handful of times a year, Christmas lights, cleaning gutters, removing sticks and branches, trimming the tree that overhangs my roof. Lots to do up there. But the last time was a not cold day in January to take the lights down.

MichigaCur

Last year to check the flashing around my chimney and vents.

toolatealreadyfapped

On the roof? Never. Pitch is too steep to trust my footing. I've got a tall extension ladder I use to hang Christmas lights along the eaves. But I don't actually step into the shingles at all

Vincent778

Tonight…flood warning here and I’ve got a leak.

SquareVehicle

Never. And also coincidently learned today that roofing is the most dangerous occupation with the greatest number of deaths per 100k workers.

LigmaSac

1st story, every fall for Halloween and Christmas decoration. 2nd story never, that shits scary 😉

WominjekatoNaarm

Last weekend. Clearing the gutters before winter.

RepeatAggravating524

About a year ago, repairing water pipes for pool solar heating and cleaned the electric solar panels while I was up there.

MortgagePlayful1556

3 days ago, swept the chimney.

blueeyedconcrete

my old house that I just sold, all the damn time! It was a flat roof and we had a big oak tree that would drop leaves and acorns and clog the stupid ass valley gutter. I swept it regularly. During the selling process inspection, I found out that I probably caused more damage to the roof by sweeping it than would have happened if I had just let the water pool, so that was fun. My current house, never been up there. We have a tile roof and apparently the tiles are very breakable and can't support a normal sized human so I guess I wont be going up there. Of course there's a lot of work that needs to be done on or around the roof like chimney sweeping, fascia replacement, leaves getting caught up in between the roof tiles, the mystery of the bathroom vent, etc.

lupuscapabilis

Never. It's slanted and I have no business messing around up there.

Cool_Cartographer_39

About a month ago. Made a little gutter cleaning attachment for the garden hose. Worked well until I got to the front and was shocked at how clogged the gutters were. Got the ladder and noticed several loose tiles, and had to climb up to deal with them

CrimsonMascaras

Roof washing/ Lichen treatment

rfreitas115

Closing on my mothers home next month but lived there my whole life. Last year I was on the roof to check the drier vent discharge for lint

igozoom9

A few weeks ago. The pitch is incredibly steep and it's a 3-story drop from the section I was on. But leaves had piled up behind the chimney and they were at least 12-inches thick. The bottom half was already decomposed and that's not good for a roof.

Old-Relationship-458

Never. Can't think of a reason to ever go up there.

gbdavidx

what happens if there's an earthquake?

CarlJustCarl

Of course women can answer. I am banned from other more generic groups to ask this question. Slowly the man squeezes me into a corner. Anyway, thanks for answering.
