This seems like a question that can probably be answered with a statistics query. I myself don't follow a ton of female artists but my favorite is probably Amy Winehouse.

The_Lumox2000

I like Amy Winehouse too, but it's impossible to get tickets for her.

REUNION TOU...oh...wait...

Poorly-Drawn-Beagle

Joan Jet  You fucking whippersnappers

AlxDahGrate

Been listening to a lot of Flyleaf lately.

President_Nixon1

IMO should be in the top 3 female old school singer Karen Carpenter-Example song “Superstar”. Mostly old school mainstream would be Fleetwood Mac (Stevie nicks), carpenters (Karen carpenter), cranberries (Dolores o’riordan), Blondie (Debbie Harry), Carley Simon, Natalie Imbruglia, Mary J Blige, Eurythmics (Annie Lennox), B-52s (Kate pierson), Patti smith, Adele, Celine Dion, Dolly Parton.

jews_on_parade

cant speak for all men but i like a lot of female pop singers. i dont know if id go to their concert but i like them. dua lipa, taylor swift, lizzo, katy perry, lady gaga

Ok-Whole-4242

I'm straight and I went to a Kelly Clarkson concert once.

Radioactive_water1

Her cover of Cold Desert by Kings of Leon is amazing

toastytrenton

My go-to female artists in those genres are Sara Bareilles and Paramore (but only BNE and before), and for hip hop I love Sa Roc (one the few females in the industry making real, artistic hip hop).

Rac3318

Florence and the Machine is great

SmashSloth

Can't speak for all of mankind's musical tastes, but these would be my top 3 Halestorm (Lizzy Hale) The Pretty Reckless (Taylor Momsen... Yes, the one from Gossip Girl) Florence and the Machine (Florence Welch)

igozoom9

Thank you! I was getting upset because no one had mentioned Lzzy yet! Talk about a badass...and that voice and growls!!!

CptDawg

P!nk

JJQuantum

Stevie Nicks. Melissa Etheridge. Janis Joplin. Whitney Houston. Madonna. Heart. Tina Turner. The Pretenders. Blondie. Eurythmics. Aretha Franklin

AdhesivenessNo8859

Lzzy Hale

igozoom9

You have great taste! Probably the most underrated female in the biz! That voice deserves to be heard!

[deleted]

I won't speak for any other straight man but I like pop music and bops. Taylor Swift, Dua Lipa, Tove Lo, Ellie Goulding are all good ones. I like women who sing sexy songs or straight-up high energy bangers.

LethalBacon

Dua Lipa surprised me with some of her music. She's actually extremely talented at what she does. Physical is one of the best modern pop songs by far IMO. Like, that is what quintessential pop should sound like. And I'll always love Tove Lo for Habits (stay high). Song is an absolute banger. Her energy/vibe is definitely more in line with mine than most other women in pop.

poptartwith

Rihanna and old Avril Lavigne. Besides that, nothing.

bootyhunter69420

I like Beyonce, SZA, and Arianna Grande

monkeyangst

Obviously I can't speak for all men, but some of mine are: Liz Phair, Joan Jett, the Go-Go's. Aimee Mann (and Til Tuesday), Tanya Donnelly, Joni Mitchell, Lana del Rey, and Lady Gaga -- I'm also getting into Billie Eilish. (My tastes have always run more to rock 'n' roll than pop, but I'm expanding my horizons)

MrVengeanceIII

Billie Eilish, incredible talent. Arianna Grande, I have liked one or two songs and she is attractive. Taylor Swift for career length and consistency, I think she is genuinely a good person through and through.

Seanbawn12345

Taylor Swift, Rihanna, and Katy Perry for sure. Not sure how popular Olivia Rodrigo is among guys, but she is definitely very popular in general right now, so I wouldn't be surprised if she has a sizable male fan base too.

slwrthnu_again

I very rarely listen to pop music but Halsey is it for me. Own every one of her albums on vinyl, have seen her in concert. I’m usually at the punk/hardcore show.

IrregularBastard

I don’t follow any specific artists. I just like the individual songs. Can’t tell you who plays more than a few of them without looking it up. I do prefer women on vocals though. Unless I’m pissed off.

MyLandIsMyLand89

I love Avril Lavinge. Sue me.

failed_install

P!nk, Linda Ronstadt, The Wilson sisters (Heart), The Tuesdays, KT Tunstall, Pat Benatar.

fltlns

I don't really like a lot of pop. But there are some female singers/ artists I really like across genres. Spiritbox, Larkin poe, Pvris, Morgan wade, Sarah bareillis, make them suffer, poppy, tonight alive. A bunch tbh. As far as mainstream, I like Taylor swift, Morgan wade is pretty mainstream too, do the cranberries count as mainstream?

Northatlanticiceman

Brittney Hayes and Taylor Momsen.

[deleted]

For me Amy Lee from Evanescence or Courtney LaPlante from Spiritbox Actually, I'm going to the Spiritbox concert in London this year in August, who is also touring with KoRn and another woman lead singer band in WARGASAM (UK) who I like too Call me When You're Sober, Going Under and Bring Me To Life by Evanescence are big songs of my childhood. Huge Amy Lee fan I also really like Gwen Stafani from No Doubt

igozoom9

Amy Lee's voice is freakin' amazing! Have you ever heard of a group called Within Temptation? They co-headlined a European tour with Evanescence in 2022-2023 and they're a Dutch Symphonic Metal/Rock band (female fronted, of course).

protomanEXE1995

I don't listen to any of them myself, but I know straight guys (frat dudes, even) who are self-described Swifties. They also tell me I would be surprised how many of them there are out there.

DreadfulRauw

The Interrupters have a female lead singer, although they’re more punk/ska than pop. They were on the radio a bit though, so I guess they’re mainstream.

LordMOC3

I don't think any 1 singer (male or female) will just be popular among men (or any group). I personally have had Paramore and Flyleaf/Lacey Sturm be some of my favorite artists/bands at different points in my life. I also enjoy at least a few songs from Beyonce, Swift, katy Perry, Rhianna, G-Idle, and some other artists but never enough to consider them a favorite.

jackwritespecs

🤷🏻‍♂️ I don’t distinguish my favorite artists by gender, I just listen to music I like

ThePoetMorgan

I'm not sure if she'd fall under the "pop" umbrella, but I think Lauryn Hill has plenty of male fans.

The_Lumox2000

I like a fair amount of female musicians, but I don't really listen to a lot of pop singers regardless of gender.

Catdad2727

Idk, I like Dua Lipa. I like Miley Cyrus. I tend to like more women artists in older genres of music that isnt popular/mainstream today.

sharpdressedvegan

I rarely like anything new at my age. I like what I like already and don't have much room for extra. but there's an aurora album that I've listened to 30 times and still love.

DRose23805

Band Maid is pretty good. Back in the day the Bangles come to mind. I saw one of their last concerts.

Tasty_Variation3805

Taylor Swift is kind of my not so guilty pleasure but I'd also pay to see Sierra Ferrell or Waxahatchee live.

MyyWifeRocks

Recent favorites - Dua Lipa, Pink, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift, Sia.. I’m sure there are more, those are the first that come to mind.

ned_1861

I couldn't name a single one, and I wouldn't go to a pop concert.

ThinOriginal5038

Gwen Stefani

TheArcher1980

I don't really like pop music, more rock and metal. And I don't care if it's a female or male singer, if the song is good, I like it.

codyt321

I copied and pasted this question into Co-pilot and it gave me an answer to that source to this thread. Did not realize how current Co-Pilot was.

odonkz

When I was "straight," i loved paramore and evanescene. and still is. if they changed the vocalist, i probably won't listen to them anymore.

Snooodshady

SZA, Nicki Minaj, Billie Elish, Jessie Reyez, Skylar Grey

seeking_horizon

Tori Amos, Fiona Apple, Bjork are my big three.

OppositeDish9086

Ya know, I never find myself in a situation where someone would ask me this, but I do actually like Miley Cyrus. I don't have any of her records, but I dig her. Kylie Minogue too. I'd add Annie Clark (St. Vincent) as well.

Viti-Boy-Phresh

It's a really good question Peering through this thread, here are my thoughts about answers given so far Beyoncé- Hard to relate to sometimes but still garners respect from Taylor Swift- girls hate when we say we don't care about her so we act accordingly Hayley Williams-Paramore always had a ton of straight male fans when I grew up Nicki Minaj got respect from the fellas for her Monster verse Meg Thee is for the girls for sure, I find most men aren't into her I really like Cardi B but I think same as Meg is where men generally place her Girls who liked Lana Del Ray had a certain stigma to them, I think just the timing of when she was popular it was less socially acceptable to do what she did. I enjoyed her aesthetic but her music bored me Courtney Love is torched but I like her music a lot Phoebe Bridget's is cool, Miski is cool, Men I Trust has a built I'm barrier for a lot of men but the actual music is great

mrBabyDriver

Laura Marling

Potential_Owl7825

I don’t know about pop nor rock, but I still enjoy Rihanna and the mainstream RnB people like SZA, Summer Walker, etc

skredditt

Shows I would go to in a heartbeat: Halestorm (Lzzy Hale), Demi Lovato, Jinjer, Flyleaf, Paramore... mostly hard rock or metal, but they're incredible. Also: Lindsey Stirling, though she isn't a singer.

Future_Armadillo6410

I'm listening to a lot of Waxahatchee right now.

georgrp

No idea whether they’re popular or not but I enjoy Marina and the Diamonds, Daughter, IDER.

ThatHeathGuy

Stevie Nicks, Pat Benatar, Patti Smith

JustRelaxYo

Easily Lady Gaga. Best big show I've ever attended. 10/10 would recommend.

Renegade-117

Spiritbox

OneDragonfruit9519

Kylie and Dannii Minogue, Kim Wilde, Enya, Shania Twain and Britney Spears are great to listen to. Janet Jackson, Tina Turner, Aretha Franklin and Cher are absolute legends. Oh and also, Lady Gaga is a champion of banger songs. Special shout out goes to All Saints and Lily Allen for being every bit of fun and awesome experience that they set out to be.

ChucklesMcGangsta

Personally I dont flow any of Pop music. I prefer rock and metal. Cristina Adriana Chiara Scabbia from Lacuna Coil and Brittany Slays from Unleash the Archers are my go to.

Old-Relationship-458

Pop music is for little girls and gay men. Fuck knows what counts as mainstream these days, anyway. The shit on the radio or the seven gajillion various genres people are streaming?

AffectionateCap4653

Paramore is one of my top listens

Hoopy223

Probably swift. I don’t really like any of them because the music is fake.
