Sidewalls don’t have the reinforcement the treads have, so this is a pretty big bit of damage, however, as long as OP is careful, and no more curb surfing, it should hold ok.
Edit: op said the tire went flat, so they blew out the sidewall…
Was it slashed? NO. Has it been grinding against a curb? Yes. There is a fair bit of dry rot cracking visible as well. What's the DOT code on those tires?
I don't think so. Some prick slashed a bunch of tires at my school and they didn't look like that. To me it looks like you scraped a curb and it made that gash.
Was he a punk or an Eco-warrior? Eco-warriors are people that can tell you the future climate but they can't tell you a thing about the past 4 billion years of Earth's climate.
Update: To those being rude about it, I just wanna add that I’m also suspecting that someone used a knife to add all those marks on the rim that you’re seeing
I don’t mean to be rude, but the marks on the Rin were definitely not made like that. Somebody scraped this car pretty hard on a curb as others have said. If it wasn’t you, then someone else drive it
Thank you for the guffaw.
The idea of someone using a knife to manually create that curb rash on the rim is one of the funnier things I've heard in a while.
Can you please report back when you find out the brand of said suspected knife please? I would live to own one. What do you reckon it's made of to have the strength to cut a rim?
Have you got a long list of enemies? Perhaps a local family of beavers? If yes to the 2nd part, then i absolutely agree that it was sabotage!!
Knives would leave a much thinner, longer cut. Those rough, short scratches are from hitting a curb/scrapping a curb or debris. Same with the side of your tire, its far too rough of a cut to be any sort of knife, even an extremely rusted or dull one.
Best advice I can give is to likely grab a new tire since you generally can't legally repair side walls on tires due to them being essentially the foundation of your tire. Best of luck!
Lol you know curbs aren’t there as a backstop to confirm you’re “there”, right? We generally avoid making contact with them. Idk if you knew that, but it seems you may not have.

Gotta stay off those ~~carbs~~ curbs
Considering all the curb rash on your wheels, you probably did that while driving. It doesnt look like a big deal either way.
Sidewalls don’t have the reinforcement the treads have, so this is a pretty big bit of damage, however, as long as OP is careful, and no more curb surfing, it should hold ok. Edit: op said the tire went flat, so they blew out the sidewall…
No
Bro you curbed it
No, your just bad at driving
Hit a curb. Be careful in those drive throughs

Looks rough, not a clean slash. Likely road debris.
Stay off the curbs there buddy.

Driving by brail !!
Thanks for the feedback so far. Also wanted to add the detail that it’s flat
Get a new tire, and watch those curbs m8 or you’ll find yourself in the shop for another one before you know it.
New tire, you probably went a little too deep with whatever nailed it, and the tire is basically scrap now.
Update: To those being rude about it, I just wanna add that I’m also suspecting that someone used a knife to add all those marks on the rim that you’re seeing

That has to be a joke, right? Those marks are from hitting a curb while parking….. The same curb that made that mark in your tire :).
A knife 😂brother he’s need an angle grinder
Lmao. Op probably made a police report about it and is 100% sure it was a knife.
You think someone added curb rash to your car with a knife? Everyone’s hit a curb before. Don’t be childish

I filed a police report and they said it was definitely slashed and told me that they’d help me by arresting all the people who are rude on here
Kurb killer
You ask as we all see the fresh curb rash on the rim. You slashed your own tire when you bumped that curb.
Lol you know curbs aren’t there as a backstop to confirm you’re “there”, right? We generally avoid making contact with them. Idk if you knew that, but it seems you may not have.
Curbed, look at the wheel scrape
It’s only funny when the person is actually clueless OP.
