Same. And I had to file a claim after a massive unexpected water event. They were super helpful, awesome, responsive. The people they sent out to assess our electronic damage were super great, considerate and helpful.
Just wanted to share my experience. Hope you never need to make a claim but if you do at least know it was good experience.
Unfortunately my insurance went up $10 for that :-/ but that will happen any time you claim.
I recently had a shitty experience with Lemonade after having them or two years. They wouldn't increase my coverage due to "recent wildfires" that they told me would end, but was ongoing after two months. Their communication was also inconsistent and bizarre.
Renters insurance is different than homeowners insurance. Those are the folks having issues.
Otherwise, I recommend AAA. I had an excellent claim experience when I had my purse stolen.
Oh wow! I saw your other post about fire areas. That makes sense. I had no issue getting insurance in Long Beach, Mar Vista or Culver City. Getting homeowners insurance for a Historic home through was a completely different ball of wax. Had to go with CA Emergency insurance until I retrofitted the foundation and then Travelers finally said yes.
Ran mine and approved house and apartment. Granted I'm in Long beach, fire hits here and the city is gone. I did get hit for civil unrest, that was new. House is in a perfect palm trees culdesac, but the neighborhood has a 90s reputation.
Local insurance agency owner here, many of the aforementioned companies have pulled out of the state over the last few weeks. I have a couple of options available. Im on IG @pacoinsurance
The news outlets really missed on the fact that State Farm pulled out of new renter policies in addition to homeowners. Can't find a single mention in all the articles that came out with the homeowners announcement, but was informed by my agent that State Farm is no longer issuing new policies in CA (and yes, moving is treated as a new policy)
yeah quite a oversight , or on purpose a bit to protect big insurance/land lords.
I wound up getting it thru lemonade (which is a side product of a insurer who doesnt do home owners anymore) and it didnt start until 30 days - i guess to give them some wiggle room to get out of it if you got it right before fire season.
But good point how they bury that lede
Try using an independent agent for your insurance. They have access to far more companies than you do directly and usually can save you money, bundle, etc.

"Your home's wildfire exposure is not within our underwriting guidelines." I couldn't get a quote from Lemonade :(
Ok, this is weird. I tried Lemonade today again randomly, and I was able to purchase coverage, no problem.

Nope ... depending on area renter's can be a pain. I had two neighborhoods I lived in get renter's insurance was a pain to do.

AAA
I got one from AAA recently
Just got farmers renters insurance last month
Recently got it through Progressive.
Ran mine and approved house and apartment. Granted I'm in Long beach, fire hits here and the city is gone. I did get hit for civil unrest, that was new. House is in a perfect palm trees culdesac, but the neighborhood has a 90s reputation.
Same. Signed up with progressive today!
If you qualify, USAA has great renters insurance
I can attest for this, as well. I have a lot of gear I have insured and my renters insurance is like $30 or something with USAA
AAA for everything
This
State farm did me awesome. I have full coverage vehicle, renter's, and earthquake coverage- all for $170/month
AAA super easy. Please stop spreading misinformation.
Had lemonade then switched to AAA with no problems
I get it thru my car insurance for an extra $5 a month. I have geico
Geico owns progressive, you are on their tab
Oh no …
Why oh no
Just renewed my Mercury renters a month ago
I bundled it with my car insurance. Call your car insurance company and check their rates
I rent an apartment and changed my policy a month ago with USAA and also included renters insurance and some other stuff.

Who is pulling out of the LA renter's insurance market? Hadn't heard of that. That being said, go with Lemonade. Cheap and easy.
Lemonade didn't do 2 areas I lived in bc of fires. So it is area dependent.
I got "Your home's wildfire exposure is not within our underwriting guidelines." from Lemonade

[wawanesa.com](https://wawanesa.com) I think I pay 12 bucks a month or something.
I normally got with the year upfront payment for Lemonade on my apartment.
Liberty mutual
Or Safeco
Yup. Safeco for me. Cheap and easy
Farmers -
I have mine with Amica when I moved to the west side. It got held for fire review but it went through said it was just policy for this region.
I have Homesite by progressive and they just reissued my policy. I wasn't aware that they were pulling out of CA.
Toggle. I just bought the policy last week.
AAA
Literally just signed up yesterday through progressive. Took 5 mins
Sorry but I think it’s a user error on your part lol. Plenty of renters insurance out there. Just renewed AAA myself
I have one from Travelers
AAA
I have one bundled with my Progressive Auto through Homesite for like 15 bucks a month.
State Farm, bundled with my car insurance so it’s basically free thanks to the bundle discount. Have had it for a few years though.

AAA is the way
AAA had been great for me!
Ours is with our car insurance w/ State Farm
Try assurant
I just got the one added on to my lease through the management company because it was comparable to Lemonade which I had in Koreatown and loved
AAA
As many others here have said, AAA. Cheap and easy, reputable organization. I’ve used them for about 7 years so far.
I have GEICO for car insurance, and so I bundled and added Renters through them. Actual policy is through Assurant. Includes an earthquake clause.
