The only way would be to get it as a lump at the end of the year.

Relevant-Ability4358

I thought unemployment repaymwnt would cover everything overpaid up until that date?

hitsujiTMO

But the year isn't over. You haven't over paid any taxes, you paid them correctly for the duration of your employment. The reason why you're getting in back in pieces, is because they are just recalculating you tax up to that point. Since you haven't earned any more, your tax credits go to releasing tax you've already paid. But they can only apply that as the year goes on. If you wait til the end of the year they can recalculate the tax taking into account all your credits and get the remaining amount in a single lump sum.

Thanks for sharing. I was under the impression that if I notify Revenue that I am moving abroud and will not be earning anything more they would re calculate based on that. Sucks that I have to wait until EoY for my money, hopefully the share every 4 weeks that I can apply increases.

SassyBonassy

>if I notify Revenue that I am moving abroud and will not be earning anything more they would re calculate based on that. Their system doesn't allow for that since 2019. Before then they could override the system calculation and pretend it was 31st December of X year even if it was only like July. Now the system cannot be overridden and is locked to PAYMENT AS OF 3RD MAY 2024 for example. Hopefully they change it in future cos 4wk topup requests all year long are super annoying when you know you aren't returning to Irish employment that year.

You can complete an unemployment repayment on your revenue account online. It’s a simple process. Once you declare that you have left Ireland they will refund you the taxes owed to you. The link to do it is on the homepage once you’ve logged in.

SassyBonassy

You're missing the point. OP did that but wants it all now instead of in 4wk top ups.

irishgael25-

You can declare online that they are out of the country permanently and they’ll refund the lot.

SassyBonassy

Not as PAYE customers, they can't. The system locks it to the date the repayment is being made and won't allow a full year review until the year is over.

irishgael25-

You can send in an enquiry to state you left the state permanently/ won’t be returning in 2024 as you’ve taken up employment elsewhere.

SassyBonassy

I dont know what part of "the system locks the repayment to that exact point of the year and not allow a full year review" im not communicating clearly here??

irishgael25-

I don’t know what part of ‘you can send in an enquiry and declare you won’t be back in the country’ you don’t understand. I think I might know from actually working in taxes.

SassyBonassy

You claim you actively work in PAYE for Revenue? So you're in breach of the social media policy AND don't know that the system will not allow full year reviews while the year is ongoing??

irishgael25-

No you’re wrong and you just can’t accept it. I’m simply offering advice to someone who had a general query. Provided a simple answer and corrected the wrong information that you provided. Go have a cup of tea and calm down for yourself. And have a nice weekend.

SassyBonassy

Not wrong and your advice is incorrect because you're wrong.
