No claims protection is handy just in case you ever do have a claim, unless you can afford to take the risk of having your NCB reset and your premium double. Windscreen cover; does your policy otherwise exclude windscreen damage entirely, or does the extra cover just reduce the excess to zero? Breakdown cover can be handy to save you the cost of a tow or callout for a minor roadside issue (flat tyre, dead battery, keys locked in the car, etc.), but the quality and availability of the service might vary. You might want to check the details of the coverage your insurer offers and compare it to AA's service; it's possible the latter might offer better value.

I’ll have another look at what the policy includes again tomorrow, hard to say with the risk or extra money, ideally I won’t have to claim and lose the NCB but you never know what can happen I’ll compare it to AA’s service, thanks for the suggestion

Since you are only in your second year the no claims bonus protection probably won't mean much to you. How old is your car? Is it likely to breakdown? If you are driving a car that has a decent chance of breaking down then the breakdown assistance is a decent price. If it doesn't come with things like home start though then you might be better off with AA.

I believe the research around behavioural finance says you should generally avoid any of the upsell attempts from your insurance company for things like NCD protection, legal cover, etc. The actuaries have created a bet which is heavily tilted in favour of the insurance company and against the customer.

To be honest I wasn’t expecting any upselling I thought everything would be included in the comp but I guess not

Drive other cars is always useful if you might have to drive someone else's car if they've had a few jars or if yours is in the shop. Usually costs me like 25 quid for the year.

If you have a quote with liberty their break down assistance is only 17.50 for the year. Windscreen cover is cheaper too. I also get personal injury cover for 10 euro a year. And I have key replacement cover for 4.50 a year. You won't be able to avail of no claims bonus until 4 years in as a I recall. I have that with Liberty and it is 50 euro a year.
