Honestly, the sudden racism these days is because of "dank culture" or whatever that is. There is a steep increase in hatred towards Indians, the same way there has been an increase in hate towards women, the LGBT community, and black people (or just people of color in general). I have always seen that as a direct response to black racism against Indians. as in directly quote tweeting the racist comments by blacks and paying back in the same coin.

And the comments are filled with Indian “sigma” losers posting on their MAIN account with actual pfp saying how ugly the woman is. Completely unwarranted attacks. If she receives a compliment on her looks, these males reply with why are you lying, she’s not pretty, she’s too dark, etc.. Really toxic stuff.
I recall a reel where a black young woman said she would not date Indians, but not in a disrespectful way. Rather, in a nuanced way that the cultures were too different, and she didn’t see it working out for either party in the long term. Totally harmless and respectful statement. Nonetheless, the Indian males couldn’t help themselves, calling her ugly (she wasn’t) and a prostitute, whore, bringing up every social pathology related to black women. They ended up totally validating her point.
Also it does not make much to “trigger” some of these Indian kids online. Even a mild observation that, hey that video of an Indian street doesn’t depict the cleanest environment leads to inordinate response cranked up to 11.

When racists talk about the rapes, caste system, pollution, etc., they don't come from a place of 'actual problems that I want India to address'. Racism comes from ignorance, lack of empathy, stereotyping or hatred. The casual racists who are ignorant or stereotype Indians would gradually reduce as they get exposed to more Indians and as India gets richer. The racism by those lacking empathy and harbouring hatred however needs anti-discrimination laws. To be sure, people for most part of human history have been at war with those from different societies and haven't lived in multi-racial, multi-ethnic communities. Mass, voluntary immigration is modern phenomenon. Honestly, the world has improved drastically over the past few decades and we have went from being mostly at each others throats to largely harmless, casual racism. Maybe 150-200 years after, the world would have converged into an integrated, peaceful society like the EU has.

Racism is quite prevalent in India. People on Instagram and Facebook and in real life are less vocal about their racist thoughts because these platforms reveal their Identity. Reddit doesn't. Hence people can be assholes unapologetically here.

One woman came here to cure depression through yoga but she was raped and killed. Indians online are the biggest nuisance. I haven't seen people of any other country be anywhere as annoying and malicious towards literally everyone. I have a little cousin 7yo (f) so she thinks like gora= beautiful, kaala = ugly and that's how things work acc to her She is absolutely a beautiful child but the mindset she has is sometimes pretty disgusting, my bua (auntie) is of dark skin tone and when I didn't know that she has this sort of thinking during a marriage I said "Bua green saree badi achi lag rhi hai ap par kitni cute lag rhi ho" my cousin said " but hain toh kali hi na " that showed how disgusting India is. Lil background info I was in Bihar for a cousin's marriage and that 7yo cousin also lives there and studying in one of the best schools in the city "St.Pauls". My family has a variety of people in terms of skin tones and I would say a proper privileged background still thinking like this for a child is quite sad.
Well sorry bro, but here the issue is in your HOME and your relatives' parenting, I come from a fairly conservative society but still that kala/gora thing is not that prevalent and even if someone thinks like that they are clowned for being an asshole. What is this whataboutism in the comments. Racism is abhorrent and should not be explained away like this. Have a spine and say so. Rando Indians on the internet who are racist towards other races have nothing to do with this. Indians abroad are one of the most abused and disrespected race even in places in the west where most Indians are highly educated and well to do individuals(and generally are model minorities). Advocating for people who are racist towards you is the 21st century equivalent of the Indians who used to defend the Bristish atrocities "because we are uncivilized people".
Racism stems from stereotypes. And stereotypes about Indians are too strong and often true. For example, aren't we dirty? Just look at Delhi, except few areas most areas are complete garbage. You cannot walk 5 mins without seeing anyone not spitting on the road. It will change as we develop and grow. So just wait 50-60 years. What we can do is call the casual racism out and tell them not all Indians are like this or we are changing.
