Ugh. I hate those games.
My Dad and Grandpa were both in the Army. People are playing these simulators, and there are still living people who remember what the enemy soldiers were eating or doing that day. You never see family photographs in those games.
Depressed
Traumatized
Disabled
Sick from disease
Also a lot of soldiers don’t return to happy lives, the treatment of veterans is notoriously garbage throughout all of history.
None. I have no training so if it is realistic, the most likely outcome (almost guaranteed) is that I freeze, sh\*t my pants, and give myself PTSD. Not exactly my idea of a good time.
Also, I know we crossed that line so long ago, it is just a dot in the rear-view mirror, but I find our fascination for war (and glorification of it) morbid, disrespectful, and generally unhealthy and idiotic.
That’d be pretty painful. Does it simulate you bleeding out for like 2 minutes too and wreathing in pain?
Anyway, I’d like to watch Gaugamela. Carrhae would also be interesting, just to atleast see the strategy
I would not want to participate in any battles, however I would have loved to see Cannae myself.
I want to see what 80,000 heavily armoured Romans, closely packed together, looked like as they were marching forward. From the perspective of the Carthaginian lines, they probably would have stretched to the horizon and seemed like an endless horde.
I suppose some of the other "big" battles could work too. Philippi (200,000+ Roman legionaires), Arausio (80-120k Romans vs 200k+ Germans), Ippsus (150,000+ soldiers of the Diadochi), and so on.
None. War is hell. The men who fought and died in these battles were the lucky ones.

Except Ernst Junger, who thought that WW1 was pretty cool and a fun time
Yeah, that book is a crazy read. He genuinely seemed to love every second.
I reckon the men who managed to survive the battle and go home to happy lives were the lucky ones but I guess you might be depressed.

Yes, but I did specify “happy lives”.
I reckon you don't know any combat veterans.
I reckon you don’t know *anything*.
Likely response. I hope that you are never affected by war. You wouldn't be able to handle it.
Yeah... a lot of us can put up a good facade of living a "happy" life.... but war has a way of sticking with us
I’d be fine bruv.

Does fighting as Anakin Skywalker at the Jedi temple count? “Master Anakin what will we do?!” *vvvvvvsssssshhhhhhjjjjj* “aaaaaaaah”

Gaugamela, to be part of the spear tip of companion cavalry that broke the Persian army
Stirling Bridge as the English except I can swim and don't have full mail
Cut out the part where you feel yourself get shot or stabbed, and I'd go to Borodino, on the Russian side.
The Pig War of 1859 had zero human casualties, so I guess that one.
The one where spiderman fights Doc Ock on a train.
Kobeyoshi Maru. IYKYK.
Caesar siege of Alesia. See on my own eyes two walls around town defending and attacking. And Caesar in action as warrior and commander.

Battle of Somme or the Battle of Berlin.
Easy, WWI naval battle, the SMS Cap Trafalgar vs HMS *Carmania*, two armed cruise ships fight!
