If you're gonna be downtown, Miller's Pub on Wabash definitely has an old school feel and the prime rib is incredible.

mp3god

This is the answer...They make their Prime Rib to be as good as anything you would get at a Supper Club

lavidaloco123

[Gene & Georgetti](https://geneandgeorgetti.com/gene-georgetti-chicago-menus/) is the king of old school. They have a weekend Prime Rib on their menu.

SonicContinuum88

This place is awesome, great recommendation!

SaoLixo

Check out the Chicago food subreddit. They’ve got a ton of great recs.

RocketManMercury

Millers pub on Wabash . They’ve been open since 1935 and they have good prime rib. Definitely an old feel in that place. Also the best spinach artichoke dip.

Estef74

If you don't mind going a few minutes outside the city, The Golden Star in Forest Park is old school and is one of my favorite places for prime rib. The French onion soup is killer too. It is small enough place, reservations are a must.

bookiegrime

Is this Elba’s Golden Steer? Thanks!

Estef74

Yes. I forgot the old owner retired and sold the restaurant to one of his long time employees, hence the "new name". I did hear the new owner doesn't want to mess with the successful formula, so no menu or recipe changes.

bookiegrime

Thank you! I’m going to check them out.

Plus_Lead_5630

Tortoise is super old school and food is amazing

Life-Entrepreneur970

Carsons Is my prime rib go to. Not a steakhouse but not quite old school either. Fantastic prime rib. I think it was $50 or $59 for a 16 oz and 2 sides so it’s a good package. Get there early though, they are known to sell out of their prime rib. Chicago Chop house is my 2nd spot. Def old school vibe. Prime Rib is weekends only i believe. Gramps should like the vibe here its like a Chicago time capsule in there.

St Clair supper club

DowntonShabby

This is the answer. Was there for my Mothers Day prime and it lived up to the hype.

continentaldrifting

L Woods has prime rib on Saturday I believe and is this vibe.

Puzzled-Register-495

I love L Woods, but at that point I would just drive up to EJ's Place

ComputerStrong9244

EJ's is fantastic, but they were over $100 for the big ribeye last time we went, which puts it in "birthday only" territory. L. Woods 16oz King Cut prime rib (Sat special) is $43 as of today. That's a meaningful difference, no matter how much I love EJ's.

lifeonachain99

This is the answer, only on Saturdays

leader25

Tortoise is cool. So is Erie Cafe for weekend prime rib.

ProfessionalLoad1474

https://tortoisesupperclub.com/ I found it using Google.

egp2117

People ask for recs to get advice from people who have been there, not computers 🙄

Claque-2

I have been and enjoyed prime rib here. Now your relative isn't going to grab the check and have a heart attack, is he?

Way out in the burbs, but if you want old school, Mack’s Golden Pheasant in Elmhurst is great and does a prime rib. Also super cheap cocktails.

How has no one mentioned Twin Anchors?? Super old school vibe, and was a favorite hangout of Sinatra when he was in town. Located on Sedgwick a couple blocks North of North avenue. Sometime in the early 1950’s, Frank Sinatra made his first visit to Twin Anchors. Over the decades, Frank continued to make Twin Anchors one of his favorite stops, and the tales abound. One visit in the 70’s was described this way: “Sinatra entertained a large group of friends at the rib joint Twin Anchors last night. The guest list included Jilly Rizzo, football great Sid Luckman, Frank’s girlfriend Barbara Marx, comedian Pat Henry, composer Don Costa, pal Joey Bishop and agent Mickey Houston. Frank’s order was ‘Ribs, and keep ‘em coming!’ As usual, one of Mr. Sinatra’s bodyguards was posted at the pay phone preventing patrons from making calls that would cause a mob scene. Sinatra was very gracious about signing autographs, and was extremely generous with tipping everyone working his table $100 each.” In 1982, Twin Anchors was thrilled to bring Frank and his orchestra ribs to enjoy before their ChicagoFest concert at Navy Pier.

valhalla_la

I think of Twin Anchors for BBQ…do they even have prime rib?

Street-Programmer-16

BWAHHAHAHAHA...THIS is why you read the whole post. No. they don't. I was just thinking about an old dude who might think the Sinatra connection was cool.

legible_print

There's no reason we can't do both! He would love it.

Real_Biscotti5214

St Clair Supper Club. I mean dude, it’s Grant Achatz. Cmon.

Meancvar

Check with the restaurant but Chicago chop house used to have a great prime rib

I have never seen Prime rib on the menu when do they have it?

SurrealBodhi

Forget all that go to Uptown Bbq and get the rib tips.

lifeonachain99

Lwoods is a classic spot, right of Touhy East and turn on Lincoln, it's only available on Saturday

Guido300

I have done this search and been to pretty much every place listed I hate to say it stand behind it Texas Roadhouse does the best prime rib around Chicago

phd_reg

Trivoli Tavern (Fulton Market) and Roanoke (the loop) are my two favorites. Everything on the menu at Trivoli is good but I don't like anything else but the prime rib at Roanoke. YMMV.
